M shrugged, walking forward as it dried. “Water doesn’t bother me. Honestly the only reason it would is because it weighs me down. I honestly deal with water and getting wet all the time in my job.”
M shrugged, walking forward as it dried. “Water doesn’t bother me. Honestly the only reason it would is because it weighs me down. I honestly deal with water and getting wet all the time in my job.”
Maelia eyed him, doubtfully. "That doesn't answer my question." She stepped into her dress and turned her back so M could do her zipper again.
M shrugged as he zipped her back up. “I just don't like my legs anymore, I suppose.”
Maelia fluffed her curls as she turned back to M, brow creased. "What an odd thing to say, M. I'm sure you're perfectly handsome with your pants off." She knelt down to dust the hem of her dress as she spoke, freezing as soon as she realized what she said. Her blush seeped all the was from her face to her collar bones and she stood straight again, not looking at M.
M blushed faintly himself, scuffing his feet on the ground for something to do.
“Th-thank you. I…I have to disagree but… um… would you like to go get dinner? Perhaps a drink?”
Maelia tried to keep from imagining what M looked like without his pants on, without anything on for that matter and was failing miserably. She coughed, fanning her face where M couldn't see. "Dinner? Yes. Oh–yes. Drinks." She coughed again. "Yes let's do that."
M turned a darker shade of red and scuffed his feet into the dirt. He shoveled a tiny pile of it in front of it.
“Right… Where do you want to go?” It took all he had to keep his voice level.
"Oh um…well, I've never been here before so you'll have to tell me." Maelia said as she finally turned to look at M once more. Her eyes were bright and her cheeks still pink but she looked lovely.
M curled his hands together. “We can just go to Cameron’s. He has a bar and everything.”
She smiled again. "Very well! Lead the way, M." Maelia clasped her hands behind her back so he would be unable to see them shaking a bit.
M nodded and meandered across the pool to his shoes, slipping the tourture devices back on.
“Right. It’s this way.” He gestured vaguely and started walking.
Maelia tripped over the hem of her gown as she hastened to keep up with M's stride. She caught herself against his shoulder and smiled apologetically. "Dresses are a pain." She said in explanation.
M turned on his heel the instant her mind rushed with panic with the catch, his eyes wide.
“O-oh. Are you okay? Should I slow down?”
"I'm fine!" Maelia said, scooping down to adjust her hem so she wouldn't trip on it again. "There. All better." She said with a smile at M. She gently looped her arm through his.
M grinned faintly, nodding. “Good. It’s only just a few minute’s walk.” He started to walk again, patting one of his hips nervously.
"Is everything okay?" She asked carefully, peeking up at him from under her lashes. They were both nervous wrecks apparently.
“Oh, yes.” M smiled lightly, trying not to appear like he was falling apart. He hated walking at night, and he had just been checking for his gun.
Maelia certainly was more observant that she appeared. Catching the strain in M's face as they walked. "Are you sure?" She squeezed his bicep comfortingly. "I'll protect you." The promise whispered fiercely with a teasing lit.
M chewed on his lips, nodding. “Yeah. This city’s the safest around.” I have nothing to be worried about…
(But like is someone about to attack them???)
Maelia pulled herself a little closer to M as they walked, causing his side to warm considerably. She hummed. "Then there is nothing to stress about."
(No M is just v suspicious
It’s ok nothing’s gonna happen.)
M smiled faintly despite his knawing worry. “Right. Nothing to stress about…” He sighed deeply.
(I mean….plot point…..)
(But… Isla…)
(no city is crime free)
(but it's your city!)
