Maddalena rolls her eyes again and continues to savor the meal, but she doesn't touch the second box. She may be a thief but she does that for the challenge, not to be rude. However, her thoughts keep circling back to how commanding Mallory is.
"I just need to focus right now, okay? I'm not normally this bossy. Only when we are in danger." She floats a piece of chicken up and eats it. She laughs. "That's really funny."
Maddalena manages a hum of acknowledgment, somewhat understanding the reasoning. Though she raised a brow at the second comment. What is?
"Me making a piece of chicken float so I can eat it." Mallory laughs again. "RinRin, where are we going?"
RinRin appears in the backseat again. "Uh, it's right up here. Nashville. There." He points to a sign. "Next left." We should lose them in Nashville. Most monsters steer clear of it."
"Why?" Mallory asks.
"I don't entirely know, but maybe the country music?" He chuckles.
Mallory turns onto the road. "What are we going to do next, once we're in Nashville?"
RinRin smiles. "I'll tell you when you get there." He disappears, leaving a bloodred cloud of fog that disappears after a few seconds.
Maddalena chuckles a little and shrugs, finding it a little funny. When RinRin reappears, she just sighs and leans back against her seat.
No offense to you, Mallory, but your brother is starting to annoy me… she directs her thoughts to the other woman once the man in question was gone. Though she would reluctantly admit that he was helpful…
"Keep thinking that and I'll tell you to stop thinking. Or worse, you'll never speak again." Mallory says threateningly. "Oh! I could give RinRin command over you. That would be fun to see." She sighs. "I'm tired of reading your mind. You can speak now."
“Please don't do that. Being claimed by one mortal is enough.” she shudders at the idea of RinRin having any level of control over her. “I just meant that he is… very powerful for a mortal. If you are a “witch”, he would be an “Oracle” with his vague directions.” she explains.
"Well, he… he dealt with a lot when he was younger. He already had these abilities before, but the events that transpired when he was young made him pursue these abilities and enhance them as much as he can. Our mom… didn't like where it was headed and she… she's… gone." Mallory takes a shaky breath. "I didn't show any previous signs of abilities but RinRin helped me understand our potential. I didn't ask for his help until after Mom died."
“So he just has more experience.” she nods thoughtfully. “I am sorry for your loss though.” she adds sincerely.
"Mm," Mallory says, eyes straight forward. A few hours later, they arrive in Nashville. "Where to RinRin?"
His voice spoke in her head. The Hilton three blocks away and on the left.
"Got it." She pulls into the Hilton.
Room 316. The reservation is already made, just walk in and go to the room. No one will bother you.
"C'mon, Maddi. We're going inside." She walks in and goes to the room. She flops down on the bed.
Maddalena finishes her meal in silence as the current mood turns too somber for further conversation. Though she does push Mallory’s food a little closer to her before cleaning up and turning to look out the window, just watching the scenery.
She was nearly half asleep just before Mallory parks the car. “Huh?” she mumbles tiredly but follows the other’s lead as they go inside. “Is this an inn or do they let rooms at a palace?” she asks, more awake as she looks around the room.
"It's a hotel. RinRin said he took care of it already. I wonder where he is."
Suddenly there was a knock at the side door. Mallory opened it to see RinRin standing there. "Hey, I got us adjoining rooms." He says with a smile.
"Cool," Mallory says.
"It's getting late. You should get some sleep," RinRin says. "Good night."
"Night," Mallory says. She closes the door and locks the front door. "Go to sleep. It's been a long day on the road. You can watch TV for a bit if you want. Just don't screw it up like you did my kitchen." She laughs.
Maddalena wasn't surprised by seeing RinRin this time but she looks around the room a little more, rather than talk to him at the moment.
“That was an accident.” she defends, rolling her eyes as she walks over to the other bed. “And you are being commanding again.”
Mallory sighs. "Let me rephrase. You need to get sleep but you can watch TV for now." She rolls her eyes. "Geez, is that better for you, Crazy Hobo Lady?"
“Considering how this binding seems to work; yes, actually.” she nods, sitting on the bed and facing Mallory.
Mallory laughs. She notices Maddi staring at her. "Did you need something?"
“No.” Maddalena shakes her head. “I was just wondering about that new nickname you gave me. Is that a common name?”
"Not many mothers go around naming their children Crazy Hobo Lady. That tends to lead to bullying." Mallory says jokingly, seeing if Maddi will take it seriously.
Maddalena rolls her eyes since she was no stranger to sarcasm. “Not that one. The other nickname.”
(srry i thought i would be online a lot during xmas but i wasnt)
(ill post the classes i'll be online for sometime this week.)
"Oh. Maddi?" She shifts her weight in the bed. "Saying (And typing lol) Maddalena is harder than saying Maddi." She smiles. "It's an 'I' at the end, by the way."
“Maddi.” she hummed thoughtfully. “It is easier to say, I suppose. Is it a common name for people these days?” she asked again.
