Sterling's POV:
"Good," I chuckled, lifting her hand to my lips and kissing it gently. "Because I'm not sure if he would be able to handle himself around you, babe. You look stunning tonight."

Eden’s POV:
A smile bloomed on my lips.
“You, Sterling, really know how to work that tongue of yours.”
Sterling's POV:
I smirked, leaning over to murmur in her ear. "And you know that well, don't you?" I teased, knowing it would get her to blush.
Eden’s POV:
It took me a second to understand what he meant before my face exploded into red. I felt heat creep up into my face as a shiver went down my spine. I dug my own grave. I should have said my words differently.
“I’m afraid I don’t,” I replied, hesitating, trying to seem like his words didn’t bother me when in fact, they did. A lot. “I don’t know it very well.”
I was really digging my own grave.
(this is so fun to read lmao)
(this is so fun to read lmao)
(I’m glad you think so! 🤣)
Sterling's POV:
"Then we should change that, hm?" I murmured lowly in her ear, my breath fanning across her face. "But later. We don't need to give everyone a show, now do we?"

(Lol. Thanks, Topaz! It's fun to write!)
Eden’s POV:
I responded by hiding my face in his chest, hitting it lightly out of embarrassment.
“I hate you…” I grumbled, embarrassed beyond words. Maybe I should stop trying to such a smartass with Sterling. It always leads him to mess with me.
Sterling's POV:
I chuckle and wrapped my arms around her, giving ger a light squeeze. "Nah, you know you love me," I joked with a smirk, leaning down to kiss her head. "Are you ready to go meet my friends?"
Eden’s POV:
I knew Sterling was joking when he said that, but I still couldn’t shake off the feeling that came crashing into me.
“Are you ready to go meet my friends?”
I nodded slowly, a little hazy. I didn’t trust my voice, so I simply grabbed his hand and nodded.
Sterling's POV:
She was so cute when she was flustered. Though maybe I should chill it on the suggestive comments a little… Not that I was afraid of acting her away. She knew what she was getting into when we started dating, but I didn't wan to accidentally go too far.
(Skip to what we have planned for after Prom? Or the other thing we have planned that could happen during prom?)
(The thing we planned after Prom 😏)
(Oof. Okay. Do you want to start since it was your idea?)
(All right!)
(XD Cool.
I apologize to our stalkers ahead of time for what we are about to do.)
Eden’s POV:
I looked into the mirror, carefully trying to remove the contact lenses from my eyes. I wanted to use my glasses today, mostly because my eyes were getting irritated.
I was considering using glasses instead of lens, but I also thought lens were a better option because glasses can break quite easily. Luke told me I should use glasses instead, but I always thought it was because he himself used them. Then I started finding lens annoying because of the carefulness involving them that I started to consider using them.
I looked into the mirror, fully expecting a blurry vision. The reflection in the mirror was blurry—blobs of black and white meeting my eyes. Sighing, I ran a hand through my hair.
Luke and I had been born with poor eyesight. As we grew older, it became worse. Luke takes much better care of himself than I do, so mine deteriorates faster than he does.
Speaking of which, Luke and I had plans to go out later in the day. Just us. It had been so long that I’d spent a day alone with my brother that I was looking forward to it. So, so much. Perhaps it was because we were twins, but I always looked forward to spending a day with him.
He was, of course, busy in the day. Doing what, I didn’t know. He wasn’t with Ashley, so I wondered where he was. Shaking my head, I reached for my glasses, perching them on my nose. I blinked at myself in the mirror, finding someone entirely different. This wasn’t a girl from months ago, suffering and entirely alone. She was unknown, but I welcomed her.
Shaking my head, I grabbed my bag and exited the bathroom. I was supposed to meet Sterling (we were supposed to watch a movie—his friends had invited me along), but it was when I reached my destination that I received a phone call that shattered my entire world.
(…I have no idea what to do…)
(…I have no idea what to do…)
(Oh, well… I’lL do something about that…)
Eden’s POV:
I froze, my phone pressed against my ear as my mom’s cries filled my ears. I desperately wished it was something else, that the reason my mom was crying wasn’t because of what my dad just told me.
“Dad,” I stammered, fisting my free hand tightly in my shirt. I looked at Sterling before immediately turning away, walking away from the group. “What do you mean? Please tell me it’s a joke.”
It wasn’t. I didn’t hear wrong. Panic hit me full force. I couldn’t believe it. We were supposed to spend the evening together, we were supposed to eat dinner together like the normal siblings we were.
So why? Why did this happen?
“Where are you? Where is he? How is he?” I immediately shook my head. “No, tell me where are you. I’m coming right away. Did you tell Lee? I’ll call her. I’ll see you there in ten.”
I immediately dialed up Ashley, pacing around, running a hand through my hair in distress. Ashley picked up the call immediately, her cheerful voice filling my ears. If it was any normal day, I would have felt a little calm hearing her voice. It wasn’t a normal day. I squeezed my eyes shut.
“Lee, meet me at //insert hospital name//,” I told her as best as I could. “I’ll see you there.”
Ashley's POV:
Receiving a frantic call from your normally coolheaded best friend is shocking, to say the least. And when she tells you to meet her at the hospital? Now that is like someone walked up behind you and dropped an entire gallon of ice down the back of your shirt: chilling and frightening.
So, snatching my keys from where they sat on my dresser, I hurried out of my bedroom and downstairs to leave. My parents greeted me with smiles, like everything was totally normal, but from the looks on their faces when I just muttered "goodbye" before walking out the door, I was sure they knew something was off.
Hopping into my Jeep, I stuck the keys in the ignition and drove away as quickly as possible. A few minutes later, I had arrived at the hospital. Eden's car was already there, as was her parents'. What had happened that they were all here?
As soon as if found a parking spot, I yanked my keys out of the car and slammed the door behind me. I dashed inside, quickly finding Eden, pacing and looking worried.
"E. What's going on?" I questioned her as I almost ran over.
Eden’s POV:
I’d gotten there as fast as I could, although I knew I shouldn’t be trusted with driving. My head was exploding and I felt dizzy with worry and frustration. How could a day start off so wrong?
Five minutes after I’d gotten there, Ashley arrived as well. She looked worried and confused as she approached me, almost getting run over. I was glad she didn’t get hit. I didn’t know what I would do had another one of my important people lay in the hospital.
I didn’t answer her. I simply snatched her hand and dragged her off. I already knew what room he was in so I didn’t ask the receptionist.
Once I got there, mom and dad were outside the room. Dad’s hair were messy and his eyes were red while mom looked like a mess.
“Where is he?” I demanded the second I reached them. “Is he okay? Can we see him? Is he awake?”
Ashley's POV:
He… As in, Lucas? Oh, gosh, no… Nonononono! Lucas couldn't be hurt. That– No.
"Please tell me it's not who I think it is… Please tell me he's okay, and we're just waiting for him to get here," I whispered, my eyes wide and heart pounding so, so hard.
McKenzie just whimpered and buried her face in her husband's shirt, gripping it in her hands. She looked so broken… If it was Lucas we were waiting to see, I knew I would soon be just as broken as she was.
(oh my god)
(Yeah… I did warn you!)
