Eden nodded. "Forgive me, I'm not always the brightest." they said, and began to descend into the darkness, hoping Sherlock would shine a light soon. They had always been afraid of the dark, and their fears would not be alleviated so quickly by just facing their fear outright.

Victor watched Eden descend, his gaze still a bit wary. No. He would get over this…this irrational discomfort around them. They had clearly proven themself to be different, hadn't they?
And if Eden is proof that not all of the undead are strictly monsters, perhaps another attempt could succeed-
Victor closed his eyes and shook his head ever so slightly, dismissing the thought. He could not–would not–violate the laws of nature, of science, like that again. Even with the possibility of a changed outcome.
He steeled himself, then followed Eden into the darkness.

Sherlock flicked on the flashlight. It flickered and sputtered for a moment, and they banged it against their hand to restore the steady beam. Then they followed the others down, Alek following close behind them. The flashlight wasn't as bright as it could have been, but it cast a steady enough beam to see.

Victor followed Eden's lead, keeping one hand pressed against the wall. He couldn't quite see around Eden's frame, but kept walking down the steps. The hazy light of Sherlock's flashlight was a godsend; without it Victor feared that he wouldn't be able to see where he stepped in the dimly lit area.
He had caused more than enough harm in his life already.
The stairwell smelled musty and a bit like dirt, not unlike the less-legal labs he'd worked in on Enna. He took a deep breath in and out; this was certainly not the time to panic.
"Perhaps it's my anxiety speaking, but something doesn't seem quite right," Victor said softly.

"This… doesn't feel right either." this place reminded Eden of the place that their old "friends" had locked them into as a joke. Felix had said it would be safe, but apparently the machinery in the old factory still worked and nearly cost Eden an arm… and a head. Mr. DeLacey had scolded Eden harshly for putting themself in such danger, but it was hardly their fault! In any case, those days were gone now. They only wished they could have said goodbye to Safie, who had treated them with kindness when she could, and looked to have regretted trying to kill them, even if she had fired the bullet.

(Love how this collection of Generally Smart People gave the flashlight to the 5'2" person and have them standing behind the two people above six feet asddfgk I love them all)

(shdhdgsg actually Sherlock is 5'6", the 5'2" is a typo, but he's still significantly shorter lmao)

Sherlock shifted to try and aim the flashlight around Eden and Victor's bodies. "Hm. It is rather strange down here." They agreed, eyes flickering around.
