(Ooooh I love it!)
(Ooooh I love it!)
(Hey Starlight, Eden wouldn’t wear flow-y pants, would they?)
(Hey Starlight, Eden wouldn’t wear flow-y pants, would they?)
(They definitely would if they could, but they usually make their own clothes for practicality since they don't believe they deserve to have nice things. Like, fancy dresses, flowy tunics and pants, stuff with fancy embroidery, you name it, they'd love to wear it. Honestly feel free to imagine them in whatever you'd like.)
Sherlock stared at Eden for a long moment. "Well." They finally said slowly. "You are…quite a person, then." They tipped their head a little. "I would love more details about your creation, if you would oblige my curiosity?" They stepped closer, eyes flickering over Eden curiously.
Alek's eyebrows drew together a little as he heard the tale of death and destruction that Eden had created. "Well. It isn't as if you're the only one here that's killed." He said slowly. "Nor the only one who's killed those that they shouldn't have, or regret killing."
"You wouldn't understand, the ice has made it's way too far into your heart." they said in response to Alek.
"And I don't know many of the details of how I came to be, nor would I care to share what I do know. The memories… are too painful." they said. "If you must, ask Victor, he'd probably love to ramble on about his massive scientific failure."
(Ok cool :)
Alek frowned a little bit. "Ice?" He asked. "I'm not sure I understand." He knew that he… should regret things more than he did, but…he wasn't a bad person. He wasn't. He refused to think he was. His uncle had deserved to die, after everything Claudius had done.
Sherlock nodded a little bit, looking around for Victor for a moment, and then studying Eden again when he didn't spot the creator.
(Victor's in the lab but I'm being nitpicky, sorry!)
(hfhshgd sorry!)
(aklflidfakj it's fine.)
(I didn’t go too overboard right? https://s3.amazonaws.com/notebook-content-uploads/content/uploads/original/1dea4ae8-c96f-4a58-beb5-6da589da2e9a.jpeg?1601239520 Also thanks Starlight I wanna draw Eden in five dozen outfits now)
(AHHH EDEN LOOKS SO PRETTY- like just. Fabulous. I love it. Wonderful.)
(Yaaaay thank you!)
((lo looks so good in that dress!!))
(Yess ikr? She’s one of my favorites)
Victor burst from the laboratory, holding up a bot. "I've done it! I've finally programmed it to fly without any external commands!" he yelped. "Now what's all this, then?" he asked about the gathering.
"They know our tragic backstory now. The short one has questions for you." Eden summarized.
"Dammit Eden. You don't go around telling people things about us! So, Sherlock, what questions do you have?" Victor asked, looking a little tired.
"Knowing things about people builds a foundation of trust. It's how a good team operates." Lo commented, brushing her hair to the side with her fingers. She turned to Eden, then, head tilted in question. "Do you want a cookie? I found a few boxes of them, there's oreos, chocolate chip, and these snickerdoodles that look super good." One of her feet, bare except for the thin socks she was wearing, slid back and forth on the floor, tracing shapes into the ground absent mindedly.
(aaahhhhh it's beautiful I love it!!)
Sherlock blinked. "I'm not that short!" They exclaimed. "But– how did you make Eden? How…I mean…" They shook their head a little bit. "How…I don't even know what to ask. What gave you the idea for…creating them?" They asked, shifting a little bit.
"I mainly stole from graveyards and printed out body parts from the samples I had received. Holding Eden's heart for the first time… I could practically feel it beat in my hands." he said wistfully. "I gave them life. But their cells… changed. Eden has looked the way they do now for the past, well, a little over two decades. It's strange, I don't know how it happened. But it did. As for why they're all… sewn together, I couldn't print out everything at once. So, I made do."
"As for why? Spite, mainly. And because I felt I could." Victor shrugged. He didn't really know why else anyone would do anything.
Sherlock nodded slowly, looking at Eden again. "I see… The change in cells, could that have happened because of changes in the cells structure? Like…cancer, or an infestation of some sort?" They questioned.
"A cancer? Perhaps. It's unlike any cancer I've ever seen, all the cells remain unchanged. Static. Reproducing exact copies, perfect copies even." Victor mused. "Well… before I had revived them, they had the capacity for decay. But now? Well, all I know is that my creature is unlike any living being there is. Not even sure if they properly count as living."
Eden cringed at this, drawing back into the sofa. They didn't like to think about their nature, or hear about it for that matter.
Mina cringed as well. She murmured, “Guys, you’re making them uncomfortable…”
Despite the initial shock of hearing their story, she had a newfound empathy for Eden. He shoulders tensed up slightly as she heard Victor and Sherlock seeming to talk about them like an animal in a zoo.
"Oh, quiet, we're having a conversation." Victor said. "Besides, I know Eden's limits. Talking about their creation is hardly the worst thing I could do to them."
Eden tried to block out the images of blood and gore filling their head, tried to block out the memories of waking, of Victor, of all of it. But they couldn't. They began to hyperventilate, gasping for breath that would not come.
Victor didn't bother to stop discussing with Sherlock. "Your theory does have some merit, I suppose. But that doesn't explain… Eden, whatever is the matter? Can't you just let me speak with Mx. Holmes for a while without making things all about yourself?"
Lo glanced from Eden, to Mina, and then to the two speaking. "Mina, be a dear and see if you can get through to them? As for you, Doctor, I don't give a shit. Pride is fine, but at the cost of actual and important feelings, it frankly doesn't matter. You can take your conversation elsewhere if you're going to be that much of an inconsiderate dunce." The glare she had on him was nearly withering. "Considering it's their creation story, they're allowed to have this be about them."
(I'm sorry for making Victor so mean I just have a lot of emotions relating to parents that I simply Must Project and apparently shit gets to go down here I suppose.)
"Thanks," they smiled at Lo, calming down a bit when they saw the look of utter horror on Victor's face. The man wasn't really used to being talked down to, and it showed. "Also, Victor isn't a doctor like in Walton's book."
"Be quiet, I know plenty to pass in the scientific field." Victor grumbled.
(Can I just have Mina throw hands pls-)
Mina stiffened in surprise. Then her eyes widened and her brows arched dangerously.
“Dear…” Jonathan tried putting a hand on her shoulder, but she raised a hand to stop him.
“Gladly,” she muttered to Lo. She stood, her eyes burning. She spoke, her voice nearly exploding from her lips.
“Victor! How dare you speak to me that way. How dare you speak of your creation in such vile language! If you created them, why are you treating them like such a burden? Because if you ask me, that’s exactly why they were driven to murder those people, including you! And since you’re still alive, I suggest you treat Eden with the greatest gratitude, or am I going to have to beat it into you?”
She walked closer to him, her foot poised to meet his groin.
