"What do you mean?" she asked in a worried tone.
"What do you mean?" she asked in a worried tone.
"Just, you know someone's voice is different when they don't know who they're talking to," Evelyn said quickly. "I thought you were upset, but really you just didn't know it was me."
"Yea" she replied, laughing lightly. "So, what's up?" she asked
“Just . . . calling to say hi. And cause I said I would. Again, sorry for my freak out earlier.”
"Don't be sorry, it happens" she replied, falling back onto the couch
“Yeah, well. . . . “ Evelyn trailed off. “Anywho, what’s your week look like?”
"Well… I've got classes tomorrow and…" she scrolled through her phone, "I'm free for the rest of the week" she added, shifting so she was facing the kitchen
“Well, do you want to grab lunch or coffee or something?” Evelyn asked, playing with her hair with one hand.
"That sounds great" she hummed, smiling as she did. It had only been a day since she hadn't seen her but it felt like three.
“Is it odd that I miss you?” Evelyn asked.
"Well, it's odd that you miss me but it's not odd that I miss someone as gorgeous as you" she replied, her smile brightening.
“Shut up,” Evelyn said, smiling. “In that case, it’s not odd at all that I miss you. You’re so pretty.”
"Aw, stop it" she cooed, smiling brightly even if she couldn't see it.
“You are though!” Evelyn said, sitting up and smiling as well.
"You are too" she cooed, smiling wider
“Yes, well you’re arguably more,” Evelyn said, her voice cocky.
"I highly doubt…" she was stopped mid-sentence by the realisation it had just begun to pour out. "Is it raining when your apartment is?" she asked
“Um . . . “ Evelyn stood up and looked out her window. “Not my apartment, but where my dorm is.” She smiled to herself. “So yeah, it’s raining. Pretty hard, actually. Why?”
"Weather is different everywhere, so I was wondering if it was raining at your place," she replied. "Do you like the rain?" she asked, trying to continue the conversation.
“Love it,” Evelyn said, staring out the window. “It reminds me of home.”
"I love it too" she replied. She couldn't really explain her love for it but she did like the smell. She decided against saying that to Evelyn, thinking she'd sound weird and deluded.
“Why do you love it?” Evelyn had already given a small bit of explanation as to why she loved the rain, even though Aaliyah hadn’t asked to her elaborate. Now she wanted to know why Aaliyah loved it.
"It's so ominous and dark and cloaks the whole area in fog. It makes everything so graceful seeming and quiet. I also like the smell" she replied
“The smell is definitely one of the best parts,” Evelyn said. “Hey, what’re you doing this evening?”
"I was supposed to be writing an essay but I've already finished it, so nothing. You?" she asked, watching a few droplets of water hit her window.
