There was a jolt as the plane landed, the rumble of the runway echoing through the compartment.
"Alright, let's go." Scipio helped Bridge get back into the luggage cart and pushed it out once the plane was opened.
Bridge sat, following Scipio's lead down and onto the pavement again, a employee door in the airport wall right in front of them. Of course, everything was read in Italian.
Once no one was around, Scipio helped Bridge out of the luggage cart and took off the uniform, slipping out the door so he could blend in with the crowd.
Bridge reached for his hand again, looking around in almost bewilderment at all the crowds and loud noises.
"I'll teach you more Italian at some point, love… some people know English here, but it's not the majority. I can do all the talking for now." He led Bridge out of the airport and hailed another cab, which took them into town.
Bridge nodded, stepping out of this cab into the cool evening air of Italy. "This…it feels nice."
"Mhmm." Scipio paid the driver and started walking off with Bridge. "So… What do you want to do now that we're in Italy?"
Bridge blinked, walking closer to him. "I don't…I have no idea. I've never been here."
"I mean, we've got some similar activities to America. It's really not all that different." Scipio looked around the town square, a small smile on his face.
"I mean…I didn't get out too much in America either," Bridge admitted, looking up at Scipio and smiling when he saw Scipio's own smile.
"Well, I'll take you out to do some things then. Do you know how to ride a bike?" Scipio led Bridge through the square.
Bridge nodded, following him. "Are…are there bikes here?"
"Of course. You can rent them and go biking." Scipio brought Bridge to a rack of bikes and rented two, getting onto one of them.
Bridge got on the other, following Scipio to wherever he was going. It had been a while, so he was a little shaky, but other than that he was doing fine.
Scipio was just following a random little path with no real destination in mind. His small smile hadn't left, and he seemed rather content.
Bridge followed him aimlessly, humming a little tune every now and then on repeat.
"Watch out for wildlife, by the way. Just like in America, our animals like to run into roads." Scipio kept going at a smooth, relaxed pace.
"Oh." Bridge blinked for a moment, then smiled. "Okay."
As they continued down the path, they eventually made it to the top of a hill. Scipio got off his bike and sat down on the grass, watching as the sun began to sink below the horizon.
Bridge laid his bike down and went to sit next to him, edging a little closer and leaning against him.
Scipio put his arm around Bridge's shoulders and kept watching the sunset. He lay his head on top of Bridge's contentedly.
"I love you," Bridge murmured quietly, smiling a little. He couldn't believe that after all this, he was here with Scipio, in Italy. Never in his entire life did he think this would ever have happened.
"Love you too…" Scipio closed his eyes once the sun sank below the horizon.
