“CAN BOTH OF YOU JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP?” Nick yelled, causing a lot of kids to shut up and turn to look at what was causing the commotion. Nick flushed at the attention, and Ian’s face was already red.
“CAN BOTH OF YOU JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP?” Nick yelled, causing a lot of kids to shut up and turn to look at what was causing the commotion. Nick flushed at the attention, and Ian’s face was already red.
"Why should I?" Cas asked, crossing his arms. "I'm simply defending myself from your asshole friend, although that somehow seems to have evaded you."
Nick glared at him for a moment before taking a deep breath, glancing at Ian. He didn’t know what to say to that. “He’s not my friend anymore.”
“Ooh, I’m so hurt,” Ian mocked, and Nick glared at him.
“You really are an asshole. I’m so blind,” he muttered.
Cas rolled his eyes and returned his glare to Ian. "You know, sometimes I wonder how people like you can even exist. What the hell went wrong to make you think that anything you're doing is okay? What in your mind is telling you to relentlessly pick on someone who you don't even know, and what else is telling you that it's actually a good idea? Do you honestly have nothing better to do with your time? Anything you could do to actually improve literally anything around you instead of making people miserable for no reason at all?"
Ian didn't have a response to that, so he just narrowed his eyes and looked off to the side. "Loser," he muttered, turning and walking away. His face flamed as kids went back to their own conversations and lost interest. He felt embarrassed, and Nick figured that Ian deserved as much.
"Hey, I'm sorry that he's such a dick," Nick apologized to Cas. "I had no idea."
"Eloquent, isn't he?" Cas sighed, watching Ian walk off. "Although, I do wonder how you didn't notice. Surely I'm not the first one he's tried to pick on."
“We’ve been friends since kindergarten, so I guess I just wanted it to not be true,” Nick sighed. “Clearly I was blinded by that. If it helps, I really do feel awful.”
Cas shrugged. "Whatever… I mean, I showed up like, two days ago. It's not like we know each other all that well."
(Bump?)
(oh sorry! i thought i responded to this)
Nick nodded slowly. “Yeah, but I just felt bad,” he replied. He gave Cas a wan smile.
(Np)
Cas shrugged. "It's fine… he's not the first and he won't be the last."
“I’m sorry,” Nick said awkwardly, not entirely sure how to respond to that. The bell had to be ringing soon, right? Nick was beginning to feel kind of awkward lingering here but didn’t want to be rude and just walk away.
Cas jumped when the bell rang and gathered his things. "Um… I should probably go. See you later." He waved and left.
“Yeah…see ya,” Nick echoed awkwardly, with a wave as well. He rejoined his friends (minus Brandon and Ian, of course) on his way to class.
(Alrighty what drama is gonna happen next?)
(hmm how about brandon and ian start to bully nick?)
(Sure)
Classes went fairly normal for Nick, at least up until the bell rang. He and Leo walked to their lockers to get some stuff before they headed out. Nick was really glad that his other friends seemed to take his side on the whole Brandon and Ian thing, but when he made eye contact with Ian, he felt a little bit nervous.
Cas left his classroom with his things held close to his chest. He noticed Nick as he walked by and waved.
Nick waved back, looking away from his ex-friends. After he and Leo had passed Cas and gone to their lockers, Nick could swear that someone was walking up behind him. "Looks like you're friends with that little rat," Ian sneered.
"Go away, Ian," Nick responded, annoyed, as he took a couple of books out of his locker.
"I'm just saying that you two are perfect for each other," Ian added.
"You're going to have to watch your back," Brandon taunted. Nick closed his locker, trying to think of an escape plan.
Cas paused when he heard Ian and Brandon talking to Nick. After a few seconds of hesitation, he turned around and headed back towards them.
"Oh, look, here comes your boyfriend now," teased Ian, with a leer.
"He's not my boyfriend," Nick returned, turning around to scope out possible exits. "What is your problem?"
"Our problem is that we thought that you were cool, but it turns out that you're just a loser," Brandon added, leaning in slightly. Where had Leo gone?
"Why can't you just piss off? Pick up knitting or something, don't go around harassing people for not being complete and utter pieces of shit."
"Speaking of shit, what is that smell?" Brandon drawled, looking Cas up and down. "You need a shower, man."
"Besides, we were just telling Nick that you two should be friends anyway," Ian added, smirking. "You're both such utter weaklings."
Nick just glared at them, the two boys too close for comfort. He was still trying to find a way out of this situation.
Cas glared right back at Brandon, using every ounce of self control he had not to punch him. After a few seconds, he just turned and left. They couldn't exactly stop him without starting a commotion in the middle of a busy hallway, so it was relatively safe to do so.
