"Oh, so now…" Luca got out of the car and started to walk with Rachel. "you're the judge of my immaculate pizza taste. When have I ever let you down." Luca regretted the sentence as soon as he said it. "You know what, actually don't answer that." Luca opened the door for Rachel. "Trust me on this one. Their fries are good as well." Luca stood in line to order. "Are we taking this to go or are we eating here. I can do both." He shrugged. "Eiter way we still have to pay first before sitting down. I feel like all restaurants should work that way, because you can just order food and then dip without people noticing."
Rachel totally hasn't dined and dash before what do you mean. Then again it's not like she did it recently, it was when she was a lot younger.
"Why would you want fries with pizza?" She asked, raising at brow at him as they walked into the pizza place. She looked around the area before back at him.
"We can eat here I guess." She crossed her arms as she spoke, continuing to look around the pizza place for anything amiss or wrong for someone to be doing. She ended up looking back at Luca once again before just looking at the person at the front desk.
Luca huffed as he sat down, "I don't understand what you mean. If you get a side of fries and pizza, it's the best thing ever. Of course, it depends on what type of pizza. I'm going to make fun of you for your choice of food now. You told me your preference and disagree, now you suffer." Luca waved over someone to take their order. "I assume you know what you're ordering. I mean, it's not hard to decide, you know." He ordered himself two plain slices and a side order of fries.
(What do you mean by "you told to be your preference"?)
(It was supposed me "told me your preference" my bad typo)
"Yeah, I know what I'm ordering." She made sure to order some sausage and pepperoni pizza with a drink of soda and no fries. She actually asked for a side salad because she keeps up maintaining her diet, or what she has of one lol.
She just knows you need to eat healthy to main muscules.
So that's what she does.
She ended up looking back at Luca, "so what do you judge based on what I ordered luca?"
Luca thought for a moment, thinking back to the order. "Well…since you ordered sausage, I can definitely tell you're straight. However, I would not expect someone to like sausage on a pizza. Pepperoni I get." The waiter came back with the drink shortly after they ordered. He gave thanks to the waiter and started to sip his Coca-Cola. "I'm just saying as long as you don't get pineapple on your pizza, then we're good. You know? I think we can both agree that the pineapple on pizza is a travesty."
She rolled her eyes at the straight comment, moving to take a sip of her also coca cola.
"Sausage on pizza is a good thing." She shrugged as she spoke, before leaning back against her chair. She looked around the restaurant as he continued to blabber before looking back at him.
"Pinenapple on pizza isn't the worst thing in the world, though that doesn't mean I like it."
She took another sip of her drink.
Luca nodded. "it may not be the worst thing in the world, but to think someone woke up and said this is the day I will make the worst combination of food ever, they clearly don't know what flavor is." Luca rolled his eyes and went back to being focused on Rachel. He was starting to notice things that not many people notice about someone, like the tiny habits that little glances he would get. Honestly, if anyone saw him through the window right now, Luca would look like a total creep. He tried his best not to think about it, but the more he stared, the more he wanted to…kiss her? "U-Um, about earlier, I just…I'm really sorry. I know you said you sort of take me back as a friend, but I just want you to know I'm genuinely sorry, and I usually never do things like that, I swear. I'm not going to lie to you, but I never knew you could be so attractive; I guess that is the word to use. I know it's awkward, but do you see where I'm going with this?"
(In a way he's like leading up to that. It not like a I love you let's data it's a would you like to go out on date with me not as friends)
"You just contradicted yourself in one statement." She spoke, Still leaning back in her chair. She pushed it back a bit so she could lean back even more, before looking back at him.
"Luc, why are you staring so much?" She raised a brow as she looked back at him looking at her.
She sighed, ready to pull out how he didn't need to keep apologizing and how she would rather forget about it but then she realized he wasn't finished speaking. Her eyes widened as she looked at him,
"Are you being serious right now?"
Luca stiffed and gulped. He took a deep breath before slowly nodding. "I just…the other day, when I dropped you off. That was the first time I ever saw your house…I didn't find it weird or anything. I mean, in a way, I was happy that I got to see it. I want to get closer to you…" Luca scratched his neck. "This is so awkward. I usually don't have a hard time asking people out or talking to people in general, but the moment I see you, I get tongue-tied." The lady came back with their slices, and Luca smiled at the waitresses as thanks before starting to eat. He needed a distraction, so he wouldn't say anything he would regret.
She was a bit speechless herself.
She didn't think was ever gonna actually happen with anyone, especially not the guy who hooks up with a different girl every other week that just happened to be her closest friend.
She was thankful when the slices arrived, she just wanted to run away from this whole topic. Nothing good would come of this.
Anything between them should stay friends and if they can't, then they should part ways.
She hated to say that she wanted to try..but she couldn't.
No one could love her.
Not after what she'd done.
No one would take a look at her secrets and say that it was Okay or that they still loved her.
She ate her food and waited a bit till after.
She sighed, running a hand through her hair.
"Do you honestly think that this could work out luca?" She spoke.
Luca froze; that's when he knew he fucked up. He gulped the food that was in his mouth down. "Well, I, uh, I just thought that yeah. I think we could work out and, if not, we could go back to being friends after the date. I just thought you were stunning. I never say sappy shit like that because I'm not a sappy person. Even last night, when you got in the car, I said you looked beautiful. My point is just one date, maybe?" Luca chewed on his bottom lip. Fuck, I am so screwed. She does not look happy right now…
She searched his face, she looked into his eyes searching for something though she had no clue what.
She was hoping that by some miracle he had been joking but..he wasn't. He was entirely serious.
Luca would probably notice her start acting more nervous, and she seemed a bit..panicked.
How could she not?
She couldn't do this.
She couldn't.
She couldn't.
It was too soon.
She opened her mouth to say something, but still words seem to escape her.
She moved to get up from the seat.
"Luca i..i can't. I just can't, okay? This isn't going to work out between us. Im- I'm not ready for any of this." She spoke, stumbling on the chair as she backed up.
She shoved her phone in her pocket and looked for the exit in a panic.
He's never been shot down so hard in his life. Usually, people loved him, and anyone would be happy to even be asked out by him, but he felt this ego drop to zero. Luca stood up as well, but slower, so it didn't seem like he was trying to prevent her from leaving. "How about we just take a minute to breathe. I didn't ask you to jump off a bridge for me, so please, can we just think this through for a second. How bad can the one date be? I'm not that bad, am I?" Luca would've touched his hand just to calm her down =, but he felt like she didn't need his touch at the moment. The other people in the pizza place started looking at him like he had just harassed her.
She felt as if her ears had started ringing when he spoke again, and she jumped as when she thought she heard a gunshot, her head darting around the store looking for where it could have come from.
She realized her breathing had sped up and she had to force herself to breath in shakily and exhale shakily until she was at a steady pace.
She covered her face as she stood there, she hated feeling weak and she hated that Luca saw her like that.
She just wanted to cry again at that moment.
She looked at luca, a very sad expression on her face.
"I'm sorry luca…I'm sure your an amazing boyfriend, but I can't go on a date with you. I..I have to go. I can walk home from here."
She held her arm as she noticed all the people staring at them.
just ignore them. Its fine.
Luca opened his mouth to say something but didn't know what to say. "Okay…" He put the money on the tab;e and walked toward his car. "I didn't know my proposal was that bad. I just thought…" Once he got in, he leaned back into the seat, frustrated and confused. "If I'm such a good boyfriend, why not go on a date with me. I mean, is there someone else. I don't…" He plopped his head on the steering wheel, which made the car honk. He shot up, surprised, before driving off.
Meanwhile, David had been watching the whole situation because he happened to work there. He waved to his supervisor that he was going to take a break. "Hey…Rachel? You probably don't remember me, but I talked to you last night, and you had a couple of drinks with me…Maybe we should get out of here. You seem to be uncomfortable." David took her shoulder lightly and pulled her out of the restaurant and to the side of the building. "Um, so you don't have to tell me anything you don't want me to know. I just want to know that you're okay."
Rachel just let him leave to his car and she held her self, trying to calm down. She looked up and saw David, before just letting him user her outside of the restaurant.
She took a deep breath and exhaled, rubbing her face.
She looked at David, seeing the concern in his eyes.
"Im..I'm fine..just shaken up is all.." She looked away, running a hand through her hair and trying to make herself calm down.
"So…how much of that did you see?" She frowned as she asked.
