Aukai slipped into the water and closed her eyes as she connected to the rest of the ocean, pleading it and the creatures inside it for assistance.
After a long talk filled with hysteria and several pinches in the arm, Alley finally came around.
"I really don't like this," She said, sitting on a porch swing.
"Well, it's too late now." Alex sat on the other end of the swing, legs folded under him.
Aukai's body began to glow. She sighed in relief as strength filled her, letting her feel healthy again. This should last for a while… She thanked the world and reappeared in Alex's house, in her sundress again.
Alley nearly fell off the swing when she saw Aukai reappear. Alex chuckled, putting a leg down to keep the swing from dumping them on the porch.
"You doing better?" He asked.
Aukai nodded and looked worriedly at Alley. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you."
Alley was white as a sheet again.
"I-I'm fine…"
Aukai slowly walked over. "I guess Alex told you about what I am?"
Alley nodded slowly. Alex put his other leg on the ground, making room for Aukai.
Aukai sat down lightly on the bench. "Do you have any questions that I can answer?"
"No, Alex did a pretty good job covering things…" Alex discreetly put his hand in Aukai's.
Aukai smiled. "That's good." She looked over at Alex and grinned at him before turning back to Alley. "Need proof or are ya good?"
"I've seen plenty of proof already." Alley pulled her legs up in front of her. Alex sighed softly.
"She said she wants to help."
Aukai's eyebrows raised. "Why?"
"I don't fully understand everything, and I don't think I ever will, but what I do know is that you don't deserve this." Alley put her arms around her legs.
Aukai sighed and smiled sadly. "And you and Alex don't even know the half of it…" she said under her breath. Louder she responded, "If you want to help, you're welcome to, but we're heading to Ireland this weekend for research. You wanna come?"
Alley blanched again.
"I-I think I'll pass." Alex sighed with relief internally. He wouldn't have minded Alley coming, but he wanted to spend some time with Aukai. Alone.
Aukai nodded. "Then would you mind researched online while we're gone? There may be something there. Look any where and every where." Aukai opened her hand and formed a small water lily and formed it into a necklace. "Here." She offered it to Alley. "If you ever need anything, just hold the flower in your hand and say my name."
Alley gently took the necklace, putting it around her neck.
"Will do."
Alex rubbed Aukai's hand gently with his thumb. He watched quietly, glad they had an ally.
Aukai smiled and leaned back, closing her eyes as the sun hit them. Her hair sprouted flowers as she snuggled into the wood of the swing.
Alex smiled softly, fondly looking at Aukai. Eventually, he looked up. Alley caught his eye. There was a sad look on her face.
"I'd best be going." She stood, hurriedly walking away.
Aukai sighed. "I feel bad for stealing you from her…" she admitted to Alex softly, when Alley was out of earshot. "It's obvious she liked you a lot…"
Alex thought for a moment, a forlorn look crossing his face. Only for a moment, though.
"We tried once. It didn't work out."
Aukai looked up at him in confusion. "Why not?"
"We've been friends for a long time now; dating made everything weird, and neither of us enjoyed that. We broke up to save our relationship." Alex sighed, giving Aukai's hand a gentle squeeze.
Aukai sighed and leaned her head against Alex. "I'm sorry…."
