"Anyway, i heard that there should be a partner project sometime soon. Am i correct?"
He says in a quite voice. Almost a whisper but just with a bit of his soothing voice. His light accent making it a little hard to understand while whispering, though he never finds any difficulty from people trying to understand him when he talks normally. Only when he's whispering.
(He's got a small British accent along with normal english. Like half and half? If that makes sense)
Rye couldn't wait for the bell to ring. Today was a special day. Maybe… maybe Lance would want to join, it could be a celebration for their friendship as well, and he'll be able to meet Levi. Rye smiled and grabbed a piece of her paper. Hey Lance me and Levi are going out for icecream after school. Would you like to join? She folded the note and handed it to Lance when the teacher wasn't looking.
She blinked, mentally running over what he said in her a few times; his voice was harder to decipher when whispering. "I believe so," she said, though remembered very well that there was. "What about it?"
(Oof sorry for the wait…)
"Oh nothing. I just might need to talk to the teacher about doing it alone."
He mumbles to himself with a sigh as he turns back to face the front of the class, flipping his golden pen in between his fingers.
Lance looked at the note and smiled and began to write back, Sure! and handed it back when the teacher was writing on the board.
Awesome! I can't wait. She took her phone and note and slid them over to his desk. "Put your number in." She whispered keeping an eye out for the teacher. I'll have to text Levi and let him know.
(So I think Elsie should somehow be dragged along as well, or just like invites herself.)
Lance quietly put his number in and handed it back to Rye, looking at the teacher the whole time.
(Yeah so they all have a chance to talk)
Rye took her phone and quickly started to text Levi. Hey, so I hope you don't mind, but I invite Lance. You can invite one of your friends to tag along as well if you'd like. Send. Rye smiled just thinking about all the fun they were going to have. New friends, and bestfriends all together. She blushed a little from the excitement and hugged her phone. It was weird, but she hadn't even noticed.
"Oh," she faltered a moment, then got herself together. "Okay."
She squashed down the disappointment, scolding herself for even feeling such way. What did she think, that he would ask her to be his partner? It was stupid of her to even think that; he wasn't like that. Did she think that just because they had a polite conversation he would want her as her partner? She was even more stupid than she originally thought.
Shaking her head at herself, she focused on her work.
(I think I'm going to skip to after school if everyone is okay with that.)
"Nevermind….that wouldn't work. I've gotten off the hook too many times…."
He says letting out a sigh, looking over to her. Thinking nothing really. The teacher started to speak up. Mostly just talking about the project. Talking about how the teacher was going to assign partners himself. By the person, they're sitting by at the moment.
of course…..well it could be worse. At least she's nice
They thought to each other. Technically to himself.
shes cute isn't she?
yeah I guess.
she is cute!
oh shut up, you have no taste in women.
taste?
oh my goodness…nevermind
well….. Okay
anyway, why do we even need to do this?
well if we want to get good grades and get into the proper college that was aiming for, were going to have to do this.
fine
Not many people outside of the school knew about his "disabilities". Which he was fine with. He didn't care whether anyone did or not. Before he came the students were all made aware of who he was and his mannerisms. Though they described him as violent with no self-control. Very far from it actually. Yes, there were exceptions, but only at times. And so far, the only violent things he's done is beat up a few kids for either bullying Rye or when people looked down on him. Yes, he's gotten into trouble before, but one; he has confidence like none other. Throws people off a ton. But that was only near the beginning. Now that everyone knows who he is, there's just girls falling in love with him and every now and then someone looking for a fight.
The bell rang and Rye jumped up. "I'll meet you at the front of the school." Her first thought wa to find Levi. As she ran down the hall, an arm grabbed her and pulled her aside. "Well, Rye, let's take a walk." Rye knew not to fight back, it only made things worse. Taking her to the back of the school they slammed her against the wall. As they were taking her to the back, what they didn't know is that she already sent a text to Levi. "Listen, I have somewhere to be, so." She tried to sneak her way out, but from above a girl poured water on her. "Great. Now what am I going to tell Levi. Sorry." She pushed the girl out of the way and ran for it. Front on the school, I have to get there quickly.
Levis's phone vibrating in his pocket, he saw the text from Rye. His protective instincts kicked in and he jumped up, heading to the back of the school. Dodging everyone as he bolted down the halls. He swung the back door open just in time to see Rye running away. The people, whoever they were, saw Levi and stopped dead in their tracks before one of them stammered around as they looked for something to maybe defend themselves with, then looked to the other whispering something.
"What'd you freaks do? Huh?"
Levi hissed at the before taking a few steps forward. If Rye had gotten away, he was just glad she was safe. And if she was safe, he didn't need to find her just yet.
"She told us too!" A girl with short black hair pushed her friend forward. "She likes you and didn't like how close Rye was to you." The blonde girl looked to Levi then the ground. She had heard rumors of him beating people up, but for some reason she still liked him. "I just don't see what's so going about her." The blonde girl said still looking at the ground. Don't trip, don't trip. Right now that's all Rye could think about since she knew how clumsy she was. Once far enough she stopped under a tree to rest. I'll just text Lance I'll be a little late. Pulling out her phone, she texted Lance. Sorry I might be a bit late go to XX park, I'll meet you there in about 30 minutes. Rye was soaking wet and now needed to go home and change. Levi, come find me already.
"Number one, why don't you come and talk to me instead of this sh*t?! Number two, she's done nothing wrong. So why the hell you do something to her? And number three, she's not crazy like you. I never said i liked her anyway. You could have had a chance if you didn't do things like this and acted like a decent human being. What the hell is wrong with you, honestly"
He scoffs and walks their way, through simply dodging them, and sliding past. He started walking around the school trying to find Rye. Finally after a little bit he spotted her underneath a tree.
"Hey! You alright?!"
He yelled over to her as he made his way over.
Rye jumped at the sound of a voice. Her hair was dripping but she smiled anyway. "Yeah, I just got a little hot… and asked them, to," Rye stopped, of course she wouldn't believe such a bad lie. "Yeah, I'm fine." Standing, Rye held out her arms. "Can I have a hug though?" Dealing with this on a daily basis was getting a bit difficult. Levi, her bestfriend, the one person she could truly rely on. A sad smile crossed her face, she didn't want him to worry, but right now she felt like crying a little.
Elsie walked out of the school, dancing to the music blasting in her earbuds. Tapping her fingers against her pants, she waited for Hannah to come out. Hannah had needed to discuss something with her teacher, so she was running late.
Quickly walking up to her, he encased her body within his rather large arms, putting his chin on her head.
"Anytime"
He says quietly, still holding her. He was up to helping her any time she needed it. And even if she said she didn't. Though he would respect her wishes to be left alone as long as if he did she would be alright. He never wanted to hurt her in any way possible. And he would say he's doing a good job with that.
"Um, so you know how it's our special day?" Rye felt extremely bad, but for her the more friends the more fun, is what she always thought. "I kinda invited Lance if that's alright? You can invite a friend as well if you'd like." Being in Levi's arm was something she always liked. He was a lot bigger now and made her feel safe. Rye felt a little tug at her heart but wasn't sure what it was, so she ignored it. "I'll have to change first though."
Lance sprinted out of the school eager to head to the park, before he could stop himself though, he ran into a younger girl, listening to some music, "Whoops sorry about that," he said with a quite embarrassed smile.
His arms dropping from around her slowly as she asked him. Disappointment filling his lungs as he breathed in the fresh outside air. His heart sinking in his chest little by little.
"Uhm…..yeah. I met a girl today and we're supposed to be partners for this…project. So I could bring her. I might as well get to know her."
He says with a shrug. He was trying to hide his disappointment. For the longest time every year it had been their special time together. Just him and Rye. But he knew things like that were too good to continue.
what was the word? To good to be true
He thought to himself as he forced a smile.
"You made a friend!" Rye's eyes lit up and she clapped her hands together. "Amazing. This is going to be so much fun. Lance is meeting me at the park, but do you want to come to my house? If not that's totally cool." Rye was hoping he would say yes. She didn't necessarily like walking to or from school alone. Now that more people were coming she wa showing to have to dress up better, maybe Levi could help with that. Her eyes were pleading for him to come with her, plus her family hasn't seen him in a while. They miss him.
"Oh!" Elsie took out her earbuds, surprised. "It's alright; I really wasn't looking where I was going either."
She examined the older boy for a quick moment. He looked a little familiar, now that she looked; she guessed she had seen him passing by in the hallways a few times.
