Even in the dark you could tell Rye was pretty beaten up. She had always been a bit careless, but she didn't know that leaning against a fence would lead to this. After a minute or so, she slowly opened her eyes, but immediately turned over and threw up. She had swallowed a lot of water. As she was heaving, tears started to fall down her face and onto the grass. At first it was silent tears, but they soon turned into sobs. Her body shook no matter how hard she tried to stop it. It was cold, and she was scared. It a while gor her to actually realize what was happening. Her eyes wandered over to where Levi was and she just smiled, immediately her tears stopped. It was almost like she had full control over her emotions. When anyone is around that is, especially Levi. Worrying him was the last thing she wanted to do. "I'm fine…" Although, right now, she couldn't hold it long. Her smile disappeared and she wrapped her arms around Levi's neck. "I was so scared." The sobs came back as she buried her face into his shoulder.
(Oooo I can't wait to find out more!!)
Jamasin forgot that she had no idea who he was. She only knew who Levi was.
He Smiled softly. He had no emotional connection to Rye, so he gave it to Levi.
After a bit of persuading, Levi held her tightly as tears ran down his face.
“I know Rye. It’s okay…you’re alright now. I’m right here” He says through his uncontrollable tears. He never cried. He never really ever showed any emotion unless it was anger, and that was only towards other people. Anybody but Rye.
Pure happiness towards her But now he couldn’t control it.
His voice cracked and you could hear the pain, the fear of losing her in his sob.
“I love you so much….im never letting you do that again
He says thorough a sob.
From being pushed around by water and now crying her eyes out, Rye was exhausted. In Levi's arms she slowly began to fall asleep. She very faintly heard what Levi said. As she slept, Rye clung to him like a baby monkey. There was no way she was letting go of him. She couldn't believe he jumped in after her. Levi really was the best guy she knew. "I love you Levi." She whispered in her sleep. Seeing him cry was new as well, actually, she was happy he cried in front of her. When the breeze blew she shivered in his arms. Rye didn't exactly want to go home, and she was going to tell him that before she fell into the water. One last tear fell down her face as it softened, her breathing now even.
His heart skipped a beat when she said that, though he just tried to ignore it for now.
She was just saying that as a friend. As a person. Yeah, of course she loved him. But never like that. She would never love somebody like him.
He stood up and held her in his big arms. After a bit of struggling, he managed to slip his shirt off with one arm, the other holding her. He was glad she was small and his arms were big, or else he wouldn’t be able to do that. Now shirtless and cold, his white, nice button up shirt was draped over her and he looked around, walking around the hill and through the park, “you’ll be okay. I promise.” He says to her, trying to shake what she had said earlier. Pushing his emotions aside. Only concerned for her safety.
He soon got to the top of the hill and grabbed his phone, dialing 911 with one hand.
“Yeah, I’m at the park in the middle of the town. Uh…no I can’t temember what it’s called. Damnit, there’s only one park in town. I’ll be at the entrance. Hurry”
He hung up, shoving the phone in his pocket and making his way to 5e entrance of 5e park, down the hill
The ambulance arrived and in the light you could see just how beaten up she was. Her clothes were torn, she had bruises forming and cuts all over. The side of her forehead was bashed open from a rock. "What is your relationship with her and do you have anyway to contact a family member?" One of them asked while the other two put Rye onto a stretcher. Rye mumbled something, but it was to quiet to hear. The guy didn't want to let some random person, to ride in the ambulance with her, but if he did know her it would be better for her to have someone around that she knows when she wakes up. (Sorry this one is shorter.)
(No, it’s totally fine <3)
He thought about it for a second. “Yeah, I’m her best friend. I have her brotherd number. Look, is she going to be alright” he asks staying right beside the stretcher, concern filled his eyes and tears stained his freckles cheeks.
Should he call her brother? Before even thinking about it more, he got out his phone and dialed his brothers number, not calling yet until he was done talking with the paramedics.
His heart was beating against his chest and he was more than out of breath.
His bare back shivered against the small gusts of wind. The lights from the car showed all of his scars. All over his chest Andy his back. The shape of an iron (is that what they’re called? For ironing clothes? Oh well lol) and cuts, burns.
They all littered his skin. Only a few cuts were fresh from what had just happened. He had a high pain tolerance, so he didn’t mind them. Plus his adrenaline was going crazy and his OCD was acting up a bit. He forced it down along with his anxiety, trying not to have a panic attack. His focus was on a Rye and nothing elsel
The man looked over Levi's body a bit concerned. Having scars like that wasn't normal. Is he being abused? He didn't want to say anything to give the wrong idea to Levi. "She shouldn't have to many issues, but we need to go check and take her to the hospital to make sure, I can't make promises." He led Levi to the car and they put Rye up there. "Let's just get ber there as soon as possible." She was bleeding from her head a bit, which they have already put a towel on and is keeping pressure on it. The sirens go off as they drive down the road to the hospital. "Try and see if you can get her to wake up or respond." The, what seems like the lead guy said to one of the others. "Ma'am, can you hear me?" No response. "What's your name?" Again no response. It starts to concern them a bit. "You call that family member yet?"
He sat in the ambulance with them, shaky hands as he watched them try to wake her up. “Don’t cry” he told himself meantally. Pure dread, denial and hopelessness fled through his mind and his eyes filled with desperation as he watched. He looked up at the lady Andy he go tout his phone, dialing his number and tapping his foot on the metal floor.
When he heard him pick up, he let out a sigh of relief and sat back against the wall as he sat on the small bench, droplets of water slipping from thick strands of hair and onto his face, rolling down his cold skin.
Ty was at his college walking to the library with a few friends when his phone rang. "Hey guys, you go ahead, I'll catch up in a bit." He leaned against the wall and looked at who was calling. "Well that's unusual." Ty gave his number to Levi in case. He was always with his sister, so why not. "Hey Levi, what's up." As he listened to Levi his face became more dark with fear. His only sibling had fallen, then passed ou and isn't responding. "I'll be there as soon as I can." Ty hung up and shoved his phone in his pocket. He would have to text his friends later and apologize for not showing up. Grabbing his keys he ran around the building to the other side where he parked. He fumbled a bit as he tried to unlock his door. Taking a deep breath he started the car and start to the hospital.
The ambulance arrived and they took Rye out rushing her inside, immediately taking her to a room. "You'll have to wait out here while we do some tests." They shut the door behind them leaving Levi in the hall by himself.
He hung up and took a deep breath, leaning against the wall when they told him to wait out there, but oh he wanted to go in there and be with her so much.
He hoped Ty wouldn’t be mad at him or anything. He don’t know what he would do if that were the case.
He felt like this was all his fault, and he didn’t know what to do.
He couldn’t have caught her or told her not to lean on the fence. He couldn’t react quick enough in order to prevent this.
He sat on the chair lining the walls and buried his face in his hands, holding back even more tears,
After about 15 minutes, Ty came running in and saw Levi sitting in a chair. "Where is she?" He was sweating, but other than that he seemed pretty calm. Freaking out wasn't going to help the situation. As soon as he asked, one of the paramedics came out with a smile. "Are you family?" Ty nodded and held out his hand. "I'm Ty, her older brother." Opening the door he walked both Ty and Levi in. Rye was just sitting there drinking cranberry juice. "She passed out from blood loss, but thankfully she didn't lose much. She will most likely have a scar on her forehead from the gash, but other than some bruises and cuts, she'll be fine. Now I'll leave you all alone." Rye smiled when they came in the room. She had a black eye and a few small cuts on her face. But the most notable thing was the huge bandage wrapped around her head. "Hi," She said, giving them a small wave. Ty walked over and hugged her gently. "Damn, you scared me. Never do anything like that again. "I won't." As Ty was hugging her, Rye mouthed a Thank you towards Levi. He was the one who saved her. "I'm going to fill out paperwork and call mom. Levi you stay here with her." Ty left, not angry at all with Levi. And why should he be? Levi didn't know that the wood railing would break. It was no ones fault. "Are you okay?" Rye was worried about him since he looked so shaken up. She could see the tears stains on his face. Seeing him like this made her sad.
He stayed near the wall, not looking st either of them, not saying a word. He bit his lip and blinked away his hot tears that were threatening to fall at any second.
He nodded when Ty asked him to stay, though didn’t say anything.
He sniffles and looked away, not daring to look at Rye.
This wasn’t supposed to turn out like this. Not at all. He was supposed to confess his love for her and he was prepared to get rejected and everything.
Why was he so stupid? He was blaming himself for everything that’s had happened, though he didn’t say anything.
He still didn’t have his shirt, and he didn’t really care. She’s never seen his scars before, so he was feeling a bit insecure about that, but he didn’t say anything.
“come on, talk to her” a voice called to him “stop being a f#&%ing wuss and stop throwing yourself a silent pity party and say something”* Jamasin says annoyed. Which was rare. Though Levi stayed silent even after Ty left.
What was he supposed to say? That he’s sorry he’s such a horrible person to let something happen like that? That he should have helped her? That just makes it sound like even more of a pity party.
When he didn't say her heart sunk, but what worse is that he didn't even look at her. Was she being a bother? Did he not want to be here? Many questions ran through her head, that was until she took a good look at him, then only one question ran through her mind. "Levi… Where are those scars from?" Her eyes widened. How come she had never noticed? What kind of horrible friend wouldn't notice that? Setting her drink down she swung her legs over the side of her bed and stood. Though she wasn't supposed to stand up yet, Rye was a stubborn girl, and right now Levi was the only thing she cares about. Seeing him without a shirt on gave her conflicting feelings, for one… He looked good, his muscles were perfect and Rye just wanted to touch them, on the other hand he had scars all over from thing she can't even imagine. Just how much did she not know about him. Sure Levi had always been pretty quiet about his past, but she didn't think anything like this.. was. Getting closer she took her finger and ran it over one of the scars, then looked him in the eyes. "Levi." Her hand moved to his cheek and she just held it there, trying to confront him.
He took a deep, shaky breath as he looked down at her, a tear falling down his cheek and onto her hand.
He knew she would mention them. They were so ugly and so visible, it was hard for someone not to mention them.
He squeezed his eyes shut and hugged her tightly. "I'm so sorry Rye. I'm so sorry" he says quietly, trying not to cry. He had let Leviathan out and get his hands on her, which he always worked so hard to do. He couldn't find her without his help though. Everyone was so mad at him, he didn't want to listen to them. He couldn't help the tears that flowed down his cheeks. He took a breath through his sobs. "I'm so glad you're alright. Oh, God, i had no idea what i would do without you. Please…..just don't leave me Rye" he says choking back another sob.
Rye wrapped his arms around Levi's waist. "I promise, I'm not going anywhere." Laying her head against his chest she listened to his heart beat, it was a bit fast because of his crying, but it still, calmed her. "I could never leave you behind." Ty was standing outside the door. He was going to go in until he saw what was happening inside, he was just going to let them have some time. Rye slowly let go and looked up at him, wiping a few tears away. "I don't think I've ever seen you cry." A sweet smile was on her face. Just when she was about to confess, of course something like this had to happen. Even if he said he didn't like her back, she still wanted to. "Levi, where did these scars come from." She asked again worried. She wanted to know.
He took a deep breath, wiping his tears away. He had forgotten all about the scars.
Where did they come from? Of course he knew. But he had to think about hie to say it. He hadn't told her anything about his past other than that his mother sent his to the mental ward at a young age.
His mother was the one who caused those scars. But he never said anything about them. He purposely never showed anyone them, not even an inch of his skin underneath his shirt. For this reason.
He felt as if it belittled his pride, or who he was as a person. To be abused. Beat, whipped, burnt and cut. He was bigger and stronger than the average human. And he knew that. Yeah, he was a prideful person. But to cry in front of Rye had already shown enough weakness. He didn't want to show more. He didn't want her to know that he was weak. He wanted her to know that he could protect her. Keep her safe.
The last hot tear fell down his face as he looked down at her, his face and eyes were red, as he was pretty worked up so it wouldn't be surprising. His thick black eyelashes, wet with tears, he could feel it every time he blinked.
"It….it was a long time ago" he says calmly. His British accent back and his calm voice was present. Though there was still traces of weakness in his voice.
"Before and a little bit after i got put into the mental ward" he paused and pursed his lips into a fine line, thinking about how to say this
Rye didn't know what to say. Levi, her friend for years and the boy who had always protected her, looked so defeated. Although feeling ashamed to hide his scars from her, was something she didn't want him to feel. This is what she was here for. To love and cherish him no matter what he had gone through in his past. And even hearing this now she still loves him. A bit sad he didn't tell her, but she understood. "I see. Well.. I don't mind them." She wanted him to know that what happened in the past wasn't okay, and she had wished she was there for him, but she also wanted him to know that those scars weren't him. The scars don't define who he is and doesn't lower his value in her eyes. Taking both her hand she cupped his face, and wiped his eyes with her thumbs. And it was almost like she didn't have control of her body. Rye stood on her tippy toes and pressed her lips against his. It immediately sent warmth through her body. Oh how she has been wanting to do this for a while. Then snapping back into reality she realized what she had done. Kissing him so suddenly, he was probably shocked, and maybe disturbed by it. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." Her face turned red and she backed away. "I-I don't know what got into me." Her mind was a mess. Her hands ran through her hair as she started to freak out a bit. He's total not going to want to be around me anymore.
He was said about to say something, but her hands moved up to his face and that's when she kissed him.
It sent tingles down his spine and his heart fluttered every other direction his chest.
When she backed away, he immediately wanted her to come back.
He smiled a little bit and grabbed her by the hand and his other hand went around her waist. He pulled her closer and leaned down, pressing his lips against hers and closing his eyes. This definitely wasn't the way he wanted to do it, but it was perfect for him right now. He remembered how he had just felt before she fell.
He wanted to confess to her so badly. He wanted to hold her. He was so ready to be rejected. For her to freak out and run away. But the fact that she had just kissed him changed everything. He didn't even think before pulling her into him and kissing her.
Was she in love with him? Or was this just because she hit her head so hard?
So many emotions flowed through him at the moment. He didn't know what to do.
But he stayed there and kissed her, his hand letting go of her own hand and going up to her cheek and his other stayed on his waist.
As Rye was freaking out, she was surprised when Levi pulled her close and kissed her. She was sure he didn't feel the same, but now she knew she was wrong. Just the way he held her then kissed her, Rye knew that they felt the same. Her heartbeat fluttered at his touch. And her face grew warm when he touched it. Rye didn't know having the same feelings would feel this good. Her fingers ran through his hair. It was light a deep fire that has been waiting finally rose up, and she didn't want it to stop. Her mind was blank as she kissed him back. Was this a dream? Rye couldn't help but feel that her mind was making all of this up. "Levi, is this a dream?" She asked in between kisses.
He held her close still, looking into.her gorgeous eyes. She was warm against his bare skin, though he tried to.ignore the fact that he was shirtless.
He smiled at her question, kissing her forehead softly. "No…this isn't a dream. And im glad it's not" he says happily. "Rye….I've been so in love with you. For so long." He says quietly with a little smile. He did it. He confessed. He told her how he felt. And from her actions, she seemed to feel the same way.
Was it really possible? For someone to love him? He had so many problems.
Someone who deals with the daily struggle to be normal and blend in with the rest of the world, keeping down his demons.
Was it possible for someone to love him for who he was?
But she didn't know what he was pushing down. Or…who he was pushing down. To keep.her safe. For his sanity to not.dissapear.
She didn't even know his real name. He hadn't even heard his real name for such a long time.
He'll tell her soon. He'll tell her everything
"Really? I had no idea." Has he really loved me for a long time? Without realizing it, tears started to stream down her face. She was so happy that she couldn't contain it. "I'm happy." She smiled. Suddenly she got a bit dizzy and stumbled. Was is because she wasn't fully healed, or was the kiss just too much for her at the moment? For Rye, it didn't matter, all she wanted was to be in his arms. A small laugh escaped her lips. "Ah, sorry. I'm fine." I'm going to worry him again. Why am I so weak? Levi was always the one protecting her, she was weak and she hated it. Just for once, she wanted to be the one to protect him. Damn it, damn it! A sinking feeling replaced her happiness. I'm just not feeling good, that's what's happening right now. She smiled to hide, whatever was happening to her at the moment. Was all her positivity over the years fading? Her head was now pounding, but she hid it well behind her smile. "I'm sorry for scaring you."
He held her close and smiled a bit. "It's fine. Here, you shouldn't be standing." He says ruffling her hair. He then bent down and picked her up, now holding her bridal style.
He then walked over to the bed and set her down gently.
"Rye…." He sat down in a chair next to the bed, running his hand through his wet curly hair. He knew when it dried it would be crazily poofy and crazy.
He looked up to her, grabbing her hand in his. "I'm sorry. If i got to you quickly instead of freezing up and arguing with" he hesitated. "Myself. I could have gotten to you sooner. I'm sorry"
He just wanted to protect her. He felt as if he got his own feelings in the way of protecting her.
(Sorry it's so short.)
(Okay, i thought it was shorter before i posted it lol)
"Heh, that's okay. I should have known better than to lean on an old wooden fence." It wasn't his fault, she also wasn't paying attention. If only she was, then this situation would have never happened and her confession would have gone better. Before she could say more, the door burst opened and in came her parents. Her mother with a worried face while her father's was a mixture of anger and worry. Rye knew she was going to be in huge trouble. "Darling are you okay?" Her mother rushed to her side and grabbed her hand, while her father stood at the end of the bed with his arms crossed. "I'm fine mom. No need to worry." With a sigh her mom, sat in a chair next to her bed. "You." Her father's rage blinded him so much that he didn't even notice Levi was in the room. Stomping over he grabbed her wrist and yanked her up, giving her a bit of whiplash. "You skipped school and now this! If I had known I would have such a troublesome child I would have-" Ty walked over and grabbed his dads hand, making him release his grip on Rye. "Dad, stop." Ty held him back. "It was that boy you always hang out with, I knew he was trouble!" When he started to calm down he noticed Levi in the corner of the room. Pushing Ty aside she strode over to where Levi was and raised his hand. Adrenaline ran through Rye's body and she jumped out of bed and stood in front of Levi. The sound of skin hitting skin was heard. Rye's face was turned to the left and her hair covered it. She wasn't going to let her father hurt the one she loves. "Honey, that's enough." Her mom finally spoke up. Just as Rye was about to say something, her father rushed out of the room, her mom following behind. "Rye.. I'll be back." Ty wanted to hold her and keep her safe, he loves his sister very much. But that was the final straw, they have been dealing with him for years and now Ty was actually going to do something about that. He left the room quickly. Rye was frozen in place. She didn't know how to feel, but she was glad she could protect Levi for once.
It all happened so quickly, Levis head hurt. His eyes flickering across there room and yelling. The sound flooded his ears like boiling water.
When he grabbed her hand, Levi went to.stand but Ty got there first. This was none of his business.
None of it was. Maybe he was bad For Rye. Maybe if he didn't let her skip school her father wouldn't have been so mad.
When he came over to.Levi, he excepted what he was about to do, but when he hit Rye. That's when he wasn't going to take it.
He stood and her father stormed out of the room. Levi.immediately turned to.Rye, his hand on her cheek, tucking the hair out of her face and behind her ear. "Rye? Are you alright?" He asks her gently. He turned to.her mother, but only for a second. He was going to talk to.her later. That was for sure.
He turned back to.Rye and looked at the large red mark on her face. Anger swelled up inside of.him, burning in his throat like acid. His piercing blue eyes sympathetic and worried.
