Eden’s POV:

I met Sterling’s look head on before I sighed, nodding.

“Right,” I muttered under my breath. I wasn’t fond of people in the first place, and I wasn’t fond of playboy types. It would be hard starting over again with Sterling with me, but I knew as long as I gave them glares and scowls, they’re more likely to leave me alone.

I looked at Gray, who still stood there, and shot him an annoyed look.

“Need an invitation to leave?” I asked sarcastically, causing Gray to shrug.

“Right,” he nodded. “Well, I’ll be off now~”

(Topaz, any time now~)

(You did? Lol. We did that throughout the whole other one, too…)

Sterling’s POV:

“And my fierce queen has returned, I see,” I chuckled as I leaned over to nuzzle her cheek gently. “Going to take over this school, too, babe?”

Gray’s POV:

“Of course,” Eden drawled. “Who do you think I am?”

My ears perked up.

“Hold on, take over?” I repeated curiously, my lips turning into a sly smile. “What does that mean?”

I looked at Eden, who refused to even acknowledge me, so I turned to Sterling for further explanation.

I sighed as I exited the building, adjusting the strap of my bag so that it was higher on my shoulder. A cool breeze blew, dispelling the humidity that clung to my skin, something that I was grateful for. Right. First day of college. Optimism, remember? I told myself, crossing the small bridge that arched over an artificial stream. But it was easier said than done. I was alone here, no Madeline, no Bridget, no Lauren. No Francis, either. They'd all gone off to New York, leaving me here. Not that I felt any resentment– good for them. But I didn't exactly have enough money to go where they'd gone, so I'd accepted the scholarship that I'd been offered.

And now I was here, alone.

Sighing again, I attempted a smile. Come on, it's not that bad. Stop complaining– you're a student! It's like Heathers. Recalling the lyrics from the opening song of one of my favourite musicals, I chuckled to myself, singing quietly. "College will be paradise if I'm not dead by June…."

And it was nice here. I had a nice room and a friendly roommate, not as bad as she could be. The campus was nice, and I was finally studying to be what I wanted. See? Optimism. Good job, Violeta. And now, stop talking to yourself and listen to some music. It was a bit pathetic, having this conversation with myself, but it wasn't as if I could have it with anybody else. So, I reached into the back pocket of my jean shorts– only to come up empty. Shit. I must have left my earbuds back in the classroom. Fantastic. I turned, jogging back in the direction I'd come.

I arrived at the classroom not long after, but in my haste, accidentally barrelled straight into someone.

Sterling's POV:

I shook my head with an amused smile. "In high school, Eden was what we called the Queen. Feared by all. Except me, of course, and her twin brother and his girlfriend, who happened to be her best friend," I explained, giving Eden a fond look. "She's one of a kind, and I love her for it."

Gray’s POV:

When I saw the look the couple exchanged with each other, I clenched my fists. It wasn’t because I was jealous. I just didn’t realize what it was about love that got people all worked up. Me? I didn’t believe in it. I didn’t believe in fate, or soulmates. I did what I had to do and I wasn’t going to change my ways for anyone. It surprised me how Eden, the supposed Queen, acted around Sterling, even though they were in a relationship.

I raised an eyebrow, an amused look on my features.

“So like, did you get into fights?” I questioned Eden. “Detentions… ever got suspended?”

I knew she wouldn’t answer me, but I still had to try. It was at that moment that the door slammed open. I was rather near the door (because I wanted to get some water before coming back to class) that the person slammed right into me.

I stumbled backwards, surprised that there had been someone on the other side of the door. "Sorry, sorry!" I said quickly, steadying myself against the wall before looking up. The dazed look immediately dropped from my face. Out of all the people I could have crashed into, it had to be him? “Actually, never mind, I’m not sorry,” I corrected, giving the guy’s stupid face a glare. Gray. Needless to say, I had not been pleased when I had found him in my morning class, and bumping straight into him was worse.

My eyes flickered the the boy and girl next to him, suddenly realizing that I was making a scene in front of them. "Sorry," I muttered again, only this time directed to the two strangers, face burning in embarrassment as I tried to push past Gray. For god's sake, please don't talk to me..

(I’m thinking Gray and Violeta know each other since high school, so that explains their hate relationship.)
