He shook his head. "Don't be an ass, Amaryll." he replied with a faint laugh. "I'm trying to keep my grades up."
He shook his head. "Don't be an ass, Amaryll." he replied with a faint laugh. "I'm trying to keep my grades up."
Kore debated just heading out. He probably wanted to talk to his friends instead of work with her now that they were here.
Amaryll's eyes flicked over to Kore, and they tipped their head. "Is she your partner?" they asked, a note of curiousity in their tone.
"Yes, she is."
"Um, hi," Kore gave a little wave over to Amaryll.
Amaryll waved back, studying Kore.
Kore shrank down a little feeling her stare before letting her attention turn back to the book she was going through.
Amaryll turned back to Adrian, cocking their head. "So, you gonna stay here?"
He shrugged a little. "Maybe."
"I can, um, go if you all want to hang out," Kore offered as she closed the book and went to stand up.
"No, it's fine. They're just saying hello." Adrian replied, gesturing vaguely for her to sit back down.
Kore shifted her weight back to her seat once more. She had never really gotten up, more just reached for her crutches, "Oh, um, okay."
"They'll leave in a bit, we've gotta work on this."
"Yeah, that, uh, makes sense," Kore couldn't help her anxiety. Typically when she interacted wit her peers it ended up with her receiving the bad end of the conversation.
Amaryll let out an annoyed huff. "I thought we were going to a party, Adrian."
"We are, but not for a few more hours. Buzz off." he replied, swatting them lightly.
Kore sat there awkwardly as the two bantered. She almost felt like she was intruding on a conversation she shouldn't be hearing.
Amaryll sighed loudly, jumping down off the table. "Ass. I'm going to tell everyone that you're abandoning me for schoolwork."
"Yeah, and you'd be right, now shoo." he made a gesture at them with his hands.
Kore fiddled with the book she had been reading earlier.
Amaryll left, and Adrian let out a faint sigh. "Sorry about that."
"It's no problem," Kore quickly replied as she watched Amaryll leave, "Um, I was more surprised you didn't ditch me," she then quickly amended, "Not that you're the type of person to do that! It's just… what most people do."
He shrugged. "Well, I want to get a good grade on this thing, so…it wouldn't make sense to just abandon you."
"I mean, I would've done the work anyway, but, um, thanks," Kore gave a nod before going back to her book.
He nodded, going back to his own book.
Kore kept reading for a while longer before her phone buzzed. It was an alert from hq telling to get there because they needed her, "I, um, have to go. Sorry."
He nodded a little. "Alright, see you." he was still reading, absorbed in the book.
Kore used her crutches to stand up. She left the book there for him but left soon after making her way to HQ for whatever they needed her for. Probabl y some hero injured and they needed her to heal them.
Adrian kept reading his book.
