Alex grunted. “It’s fine. Just forget about it.”
Alex grunted. “It’s fine. Just forget about it.”
“Alex, please. I don’t want you to be mad at me. Can we talk about this?” Autumn pleaded softly, wrapping her arms around herself as if to comfort herself. She was worried that she had really hurt him, and she definitely didn’t want that. She just wanted him to be happy again, and she would do whatever it took to get him happy. Even if he wanted her to go home.
Alex shook his head and set his head down tiredly on a pillow. “No, let’s just forget it. I’m just…” He inhaled. “Overreacting.”
Autumn nodded slowly. “If you’re sure… Did you still want to cuddle?” she asked tentatively.
Alex shut his eyes and shrugged. “I don’t care.”
“Okay… Do you, um, want me to go home?” Autumn asked quietly, chewing on her bottom lip nervously. She would if he wanted her to, but she wouldn’t like it.
Alex shrugged again. “I don’t care what you do.” He didn’t want to make her more uncomfortable than what she was.
“Alex…” Autumn sighed, rubbing at her forehead. “What do you want?”
“Sleep. I want to be comfortable. I don’t care if you join me or go.”
Autumn chewed on her lip as she looked at him. So… She could join him and hope he really was okay, or she could go home and worry…
Taking a deep breath and shaking herself out, she walked over to the bed and sat on the edge. If he didn’t want her there, he could tell her to leave.
Alex didn’t say anything, nor react to her sitting down. He just leveled his breathing in an attempt to get to sleep.
Autumn laid down beside him, though pretty far away. She kept her back to him as she tried to steady her breathing.
Alex didn’t stir to face her, though he wanted to. He didn’t want to have to let her go again.
Autumn sighed and hugged herself tightly. She didn’t know what to say to get him to talk to her, to be the same, silly Alex she knew and loved…
Alex felt himself slip a little. He shifted around to try and be more comfortable, curling up into himself.
“Alex…” Autumn whispered without turning to him. “Are you still mad at me?”
Alex opened his eyes and sighed. “No.” This was the truth. He didn’t feel anything anymore. He was just tired.
(Aw, I just noticed your username… I’m so sorry, Emi…)
“Okay…” Autumn breathed. As long as he wasn’t mad, it was fine. She sighed and rolled over to face him.
(It’s okay. I’m staying home from school to bury him.)
Alex’s back was facing her unintentionally. He shut his eyes again and yawned.
(That’s good. I’m glad you can do that.)
Autumn opened her mouth to say something, but she shut it not long after. Maybe it would be best to talk to him when he was more awake. With a sigh, she closed her eyes and tried to sleep.
(I’m glad I could too. I wouldn’t have been able to handle a day back, not with everyone asking me stuff.)
Alex curled up into his little comfy body ball and sighed softly as he began to rest. He yawned slightly.
(Hey, fun (kinda sad) fact: My guinea pig, before he passed, yawned. He didn’t make any noise, he just yawned…)
(Aw. Cute but sad…)
Autumn sighed as she tried to fall asleep. Hopefully things would be better after she woke up…
(Skip?)
(Yeah…)
(Sure. To when?)
(When they wake up and are less tired so this whole thing can be solved? Lol.)
(Lol. Okay.)
Alex stirred awake sleepily, blinking open his eyes. The room was dark. The clock read the stroke of midnight. His stomach growled and he sat up slowly.
