Autumn stirred beside him but didn’t wake. She made a small sound in her sleep, hugging her pillow closer to her chest.

Autumn stirred beside him but didn’t wake. She made a small sound in her sleep, hugging her pillow closer to her chest.
(I know xD)
Alex looked down at her and sighed softly, rubbing her shoulder before rising and walking out of the room.
Autumn stirred again at his touch, rolling over to face where he should have been. She reached out to deep for him but slowly blinked awake when she didn’t.
Where did he go? Should I go to him?
Alex walked down the steps and stretched, yawning and walking into the kitchen. Food..
Autumn groaned slightly when she felt her stomach grumble. Apparently, Alex wasn’t the only hungry one.
She sat up and sighed, adjusting her onesie around herself so that it wasn’t twisted. Pushing herself off the bed, she made her way into the kitchen, where she saw that Alex was already there.
Alex heard someone enter the kitchen but didn’t register it. He just went back to lathering his waffle in butter and syrup.
“Wonderful midnight snack, dear,” Autumn teased, her voice soft and tentative, as she grabbed an apple (that magically appeared) from the fridge.
(Lol I was about to be like, what apple?!)
Alex started and bumped his head on one of the low cabinets. He rubbed his head and looked over at her sleepily.
“Mmm…. did I wake you?”
(Lol. It was the first thing I thought of, tbh. Then I realized that they never bought apples and Alex probably wouldn’t have them. XD)
“Um… Yes and no,” Autumn answered honestly, giving him a small shrug. “It was more like the lack of you woke me.”
(I would’ve been cool with a pack of crackers in a fridge. But an apple!)
Alex hummed and grabbed his plate. “Sorry, then.”
(Lol. Keeps it fresh!)
“Not your fault,” Autumn assured him before biting into her apple.
Alex sat at his table and started to eat. He was still goggy. Maybe he shouldn’t be having something so high in sugar but, eh, what’s gonna happe?
Autumn kept her eyes down as she slowly ate her apple. She still felt really bad about the whole thing that’d happened earlier, though she was trying to forget about it.
Well… Not really…
In fact, it was basically the only thing on her mind. The only other thing being thoughts about how she could make it up to him.
Alex stayed unusually quiet as he ate his waffles, keeping his gaze averted and low. He was really just lost in thought and in a haze of tiredness. He really needed to sort out his sleeping schedule.
(Yes, yes he did. Lol. They both do.)
Autumn finished her apple and stood to throw it away. As she passed Alex, she let her hand lightly brush against his arm, then patted him gently. There was really no reason behind the gesture, she just felt like doing it.
(Lol.)
Alex started out of his thoughts and looked up at her sleepily. He gave a tiny hum in response and went back to his food.
Autumn threw the core of her apple away and leaned against the counter. She looked outside at the midnight world in all its dark mystique and wonder, tilting her head a bit to see if she could catch a glimpse of the stars.
A few stars glimmered at her from above, and a waning crescent moon shone down too. Not quite bright enough to shine off of the leaves of the tree in Alex’s backyard, but just enough for her to be able to see.
Autumn smiled softly at the view and wondered how cold it would be outside. Maybe she could just grab a blanket and go out back to lay down and look up at the stars.
Alex finished with his food and cupped his face in his hands sleepily. His eyes drooped shut slowly.
Autumn pulled away from the window and turned to face Alex. "Hey, do you want to stargaze with me?"
Alex glanced over, half-opening his eyes. “Stargazing? Sure…”
"I'll grab some blankets if you what to meet me outside?" Autumn suggested as she made her way around the table.
Alex nodded drearily. “Sounds wonderful.”
“Okay. I’ll meet you out there in a bit,” Autumn said as she went off into the bedroom to grab the blankets.
