"It's Stella." Tessa walked in as well and shut the door behind her. She smirked at him. "My very fast and muscular Pit Bull."
"It's Stella." Tessa walked in as well and shut the door behind her. She smirked at him. "My very fast and muscular Pit Bull."
"Oh gosh." His panic grew. For some strange reason Karkota never liked dogs. Especially big ones, they absolutely freaked him out. "Does she eat people?"
Tessa rolled her eyes. "She's a dog, not a freaking t-rex." She walked further into the house–they were currently standing in the kitchen–pulling off her hoodie. The action pulled up her shirt as well, revealing some portions of scars along her back that looked eerily similar to that of a mark a whip would make.
He rolled his eyes at her remark. He looked around the kitchen, "so I'm kinda hungry can-" he cut short at the sight of her scars. "Did they do that?" He asked quietly, not sure if he wanted her to hear him.
She quickly straightened and pulled down her shirt, glaring over her shoulder as she chucked the sweatshirt somewhere random. "No." The word left no room for debate.
Karkota frowned, but didn't push the subject. "Right, so are you ever gonna take these off me or are they part of me now?" He held up his hands ratalling that handcuffs, and showing off a burn scar that took up most of his left hand.
Tessa came up to him and took off the handcuffs, being surprisingly gentle considering her usual hostility. She set them on a random counter. "I'll give you this warning just once: If you think about doing anything that might cause me to go after you, I'd suggest not doing it. I don't have the mental energy to be nice."
She looked him dead in the eye, her golden eyes narrowed challengingly.
He smiled kindly at her and rubbed his wrists. "Thanks." He said, stuffing his burnt hand in his pocket. He'd never really been happy to show it off like he did. But in a way it was his way of saying he'd gotten hurt in this business too. "I don't plan on it. Something tells me this will be less stressful then being at my own home."
She didn't say anything to that, just turned around and grabbed her cell phone, punching in a number and putting it on speaker phone. "Hello, this is McDonald's!" came a chipper voice. "How may I help you?"
Tessa leaned against the island counter. "Hi, this is Theresa Hunt."
"Oh! So your usual, then, Miss Hunt?" Tessa looked at Karkota with raised brows.
Karkota looked at her for a moment dumbfounded, as he tended to be slow sometimes.
He formed an O shape with his mouth when he realised and quickly said, "a burger?" More of a question, but he wasn't really sure.
She rolled her eyes and said, "And an extra quarter pounder, if you would."
"Okay!" the chipper girl was silent for a bit, and then she rattled off the high price. "Would you like us to deliver?"
"Yes, please. I'm a bit busy at the moment, so it would be greatly appreciated."
"Okay! We'll have it right up! Have a nice day!" Tessa said a quick 'thank you' before hanging up.
"So you are capable of talking to someone with out threatening them?" Karkota laughed at his own joke. Though he did feel kinda bad for teasing her.
"I'm assuming you get McDonald's often if you have a usual?"
"I'm capable of talking to someone that doesn't piss me off every second." She shot a glare at Karkota. "And I'll have you know that I like to eat, and McDonald's is convenient." The barking increased and Tessa headed outside briefly.
The back door opened, and something tore through the kitchen and bolted for Karkota. It was Stella, Tessa's Pitbull.
Stella slid to a stop at his feet, looking up at him with her tongue hanging out.
(Exactly like this)
Karkota cursed, and pushed himself as far away from the dog as possible, basically climbing on the counter. "Go away." He said to the dog. Panic in his voice and on his face.
He looked down at Stella, wondering if she was gonna jump up and rip his face off. "Um, a little help?" He asked Tessa. Hopping she wouldn't just laugh and leave him to be eaten by Stella the dog.
Tess covered her mouth and wrapped an arm around her stomach in an attempt to smother her laughter, leaning against a counter as she watched Karkota freak out about her adorable Stella. The dog whined and tilted her head, wondering why he was acting the way he was. While Stella was a Pitbull, she was probably the most attention-craving and gentlest dog Tessa has ever seen. Hence why she rescued her from the pound.
"This isn't funny!" Karkota sounded like a child again. "Dogs are freaky!" He pushed himself up farther onto the counter. The whole always wanting to be around humans, was probably what freaked him out the most. That or the fact that his dad traumatized him with dogs once.
Tessa crouched down and clapped her hands. Stella didn't need any more encouragement. She ran for Tessa and straight into a hug, licking her owner's face and neck. Tessa cracked a smile, momentarily forgetting about Karkota as she played with Stella and cooed at her.
He slid off the counter as quietly as he could, half expecting to have witnessed a murder.
He watched them carefully for a few seconds before letting out a shaky breath. "Good to know she isn't gonna eat you." He joked, still slightly panicking.
"She's a rescue, abandoned in the streets." She waved her hand around, Stella's mouth hanging open as her head followed the movement, her tongue dangling out the side. "I picked her up and took care of her." Tessa flicked her eyes up at Karkota, recognizing a fear when she saw one. She had her own fears to untangle.
"At least your nice to animals." Again another joke, he was trying to cover up his fear. Even though it was pointless, after all he did jump up on a counter to escape her. What excuse would he make up? 'there was a bug so I sat on it?' as if that would work at this point.
"I'm nice to people I like." She patted Stella's head and let her back out in the yard. "I'm going to change, so don't do anything stupid. I'll have to make you follow me around at all times, and I'm pretty sure you'd be more uncomfortable with that than I would."
"Then I'll have to make sure to try something smart." Karkota had let out a breath of relief when Stella went back outside.
"Yup deffently would be uncomfortable. You do what ya gonna do. I'll await the food."
Tessa gave him a thumbs up and headed upstairs, shooting him a warning glare before she disappeared.
She didn't trust him as far as she could throw him, so she made it quick. She peeled off her shirt and skinny jeans and kicked off her heeled boots. Once undressed, she dug into her closet to grab some pajama shorts and an oversized shirt that she stole from the men's section of the clothes store.
What? They were comfy and it wasn't like she had a boyfriend to steal them from.
Karkota looked around. He could totally run. But the question was, would she send the Stella after him? He bit his lip, it was now or never.
He jogged over to the door, quickly unlocked it, and threw it open.
Tessa thundered down the stairs. She had heard the door opening on her way down, and now she was pissed. She sprinted after him. "Cazzo! Get your ass back here!"
