The pair, M and Alison, got sat down at a homey little diner near the corner of town. It was a bit farther than a block (three and a half to be exact) but M seemed to have a good time walking with her. He didnβt seem too bothered by it, either, since he was so used to walking long distances in barefoot. It was just a thing for him.
"Soβ¦ I might have underestimated the distance a littleβ¦" Alison chuckled sheepishly as she sat down across from him in their booth.
M curled his legs up into a criss-cross applesauce position so she had room.
βI suppose you did, hmm?β He smiled good-naturedly.
Alison grinned at him, blushing a little as she ducked her head. "It's been a while since I've been here, okay?"
M chuckled happily and looked around. Spring flowers and cute little hearts for Valentineβs day floated around.
βMm. Itβs nice in here, is it?β
"It is. It's very cute. I remember why I liked it here so much," Alison mused as she looked around, her eyes soft.
M shifted in the worn seat of the booth. βIt doesnβt seem very busy. I donβt think we shouldβve worried of a rush.β
"Yeah. It seems like there aren't as many customers as I remember," Alison noticed, turning her attention back to M.
Mβs eyes were still flitting around the diner. βMmm. It still has a few people. Perhaps we are late?β
Alison shrugged and glanced around again. "Maybe⦠But it is a rather old diner, so they just might not have as much business anymore."
M frowned a bit. βHm. It looks pretty good to me. Other than that crack in the wall. I bet theyβll have it fixed soon, though.β
Julie sat before her vanity, brushing her hair, humming to herself. Smiling, she looked back at Zack. He was still lounging in bed, as she expected. It was his day off.
"Yeah, I know, it looks very nice, but not many people these days have the patience to just sit down and wait for their food. Everything has to come quickly and be eaten quickly and be gone quickly," Alison sighed, resting her chin in her hand.
Zackary furled up into the sheets, his legs poking out as he dozed lightly. It was a beautiful day outside, he could see the sunlight through his lids.
βSo when are you going to work, babe?β He asked softly, looking over.
M sighed and turned to her, cupping his face in his hands. βIt is disappointing. Inpatience is such an epidemic nowadays.β
"We sound like a couple of old geezers," Alison joked with a chuckle as she looked at M again.
