"Because I was trusted with them by our parents. If I say no, then that means no."
"Because I was trusted with them by our parents. If I say no, then that means no."
"Aww, come on, pleeease. It's not like I'm going to kidnap you or anything."
"I'm 17. I don't need the star athlete to tell me what to do."
Zane sighed, "Fine fine. I'm still coming over to study, right? Or would you rather I just leave you alone until our next class?"
"You could follow behind us?"
(do you want to skip until a bit later?)
(How later? After they've studied for a bit?)
(you decide)
(Ooft, okay)
After much debating, Zane had driven by himself to Nemo's and waited patiently on the bonnet of his car for the family. They'd gone inside and Nemo and him had studied for a good while before the jock started to grow bored. He was glad they'd made a good dent in the project but now he wanted to do something fun and was growing restless. At this point, he was lying on the floor of Nemo's bedroom, hands behind his head with a small frown, "I'm bored."
Nemo looked up from the book he was currently reading, All Our Yesterdays by Christin Terril. He was wearing glasses. "Well, what do you want to do?"
(no jokes, All Our Yesterdays is like my fave singular book)
(I haven't read that one)
Zane shrugged, moving himself into some weird compressed form of a back bend, "Don't you have any video games? Or a footy?"
Nemo looked at Zane like he was speaking a foreign language. "No. I don't have either of them. I don't need either of them. They don't interest me."
Zane sighed dramatically, tapping his feet to some imaginary beat, "What about musical instruments."
"There's a guitar in the house but it's my dad's. I play piano."
"Would… would your dad mind if I borrowed his guitar for a little while?" He asked, unfolding himself and sitting up straight.
"I don't think so. MERLIN! GET DAD'S GUITAR!"
Zane visibly flinched when Nemo shouted but regained his composure quickly, "Thanks…"
"Here," Merlin said after a few moments, tossing the guitar on Nemo's bed. Nemo passed the guitar to Zane.
"Thank-you." He said softly before he checked the tune on the guitar and started to hum and play I won't say I'm in love from Hercules.
Nemo recognised the tune almost immediately. "That's a really ironic song to play."
Zane just glared, though it was more of a pout then anything while he continued playing.
"If there's a prize for rotten judgment
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history; been there, done that" Nemo sang softly, almost too hard to make out the words.
Zane was a little surprised when he only just made out Nemo singing and it caused him to smile.
Who d'you think you're kidding
He's the earth and heaven to you
Try to keep it hidden,
Honey we can see right through you
Girl you can't conceal it
We know how you're feeling
Who you thinking of.
(just to confirm
is zane singing?
its just there's no quotation marks)
(Ooft, yes, so sorry)
(no, its fine
i forget things too
i just wanted to check)
Nemo looked up in surprise when Zane sang, a few stray black curls falling over the frames of his glasses.
"No chance, no way
I won't say it, no, no"
