“Just a moment, Your Highness.” Indigo left the room, then stopped. Would getting help now increase the chances he would survive? Yes, mostly likely, was the answer they came to, and she paused on this for a while. But, they reasoned, now was the time to keep the fingers from pointing to them. If she waited, it was likely to be found out in some way, and she would be questioned. They’ve poisoned the prince, and whether he lived or died, it was vital to not get caught, even after the act.
She opened the door of his chambers, and looked around for a guard or someone who they could tell.

@ElderGod-Icefire

There was indeed a guard standing outside, though he looked bored and half-asleep, his head leaning against the wall and his gaze fixed vaguely on the hallway. He was fae, or at least appeared to be; when the door opened, he startled awake a little bit, blinking over at Indigo. "Can I help you?"

@Tired-but-passionate

“Maybe,” Indigo shrugged as her eyes snapped to him. “Um… the prince looks ill. He’s not getting out of bed and his breathing sounded labored. He asked me to get someone.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

He blinked at her, taking in the comment. "Ah. Who are you planning on fetching?" the guard seemed rather stupid, and not at all alarmed by any of this.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He looked around the hallway. "Uh…are you expecting me to fetch one?" he asked slowly, raising his eyebrows. Maybe he was drunk. That could explain the stupidity.

@Tired-but-passionate

“Well, I certainly don’t know where to fetch one, and you’re the only one here,” Indigo said, getting a little exasperated. The idea that the guard was drunk did cross her mind, and it seemed the most likely, but hey, it didn’t really matter. The more inefficient this whole process was, the better. Still, dealing with stupid people was always a little annoying sometimes.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He blinked at her again, still considering all of this. "Uhm. Alright?" he said slowly, taking a few steps down the hallway, then glancing back at her. "What should I tell the doctor?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

He paused for another long moment, then began to move again. He didn't seem to be moving very fast, which, if Indigo had actually cared about what happened to Riven, would be infuriating. Now, it just made it easier to pass the blame onto this guard for not moving fast enoguh.

@Tired-but-passionate

Indigo sighed deeply. Maybe this what had been going on, that first day when they has snuck to the library. Maybe the guards weren’t there because they were so slow to arrive at their posts.
Once she made sure the guard was on his way, she went back into the chambers and into the prince’s room. “Help is on the way, Your Highness,” they said.

@Tired-but-passionate

Indigo couldn’t help but smirk before leaving the room. Like a good slave would, she went and took a place outside the door, so they would be able to hear when someone was coming.

@ElderGod-Icefire

It took maybe ten, fifteen minutes before the guard finally came back, a doctor in tow. The doctor was clearly older, with faint wrinkles beginning to develop. It took a long time for wrinkles to develop in Fae, so the fact that he had any at all was a testament to his age. "Where is the prince?" he asked her.

@Tired-but-passionate

Indigo had fallen into a light doze, but woke up at the sound of a voice. Upon seeing the older Fae, they stared for a bit before remembering herself. “Ah, in is bed, sir. Here.”
She got up, and opened the door for him, pointing inside to where the prince should be.

@ElderGod-Icefire

The doctor nodded slightly, going into the room and crouching by the prince's side. He pulled the blankets back so that he could get a better look at the shivering, rasping prince.

@Tired-but-passionate

Indigo followed, and was tempted to just go into her room. Although, the doctor might ask them to do something, so they just stood near, but out of sight.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Riven looked up at the doctor through bleary, hazy eyes. "Hurts." he mumbled, voice cracking a little bit.

The doctor shushed him softly, gently prying his mouth open to get a look at his tongue and throat.

@Tired-but-passionate

Should they sneak away and find Lor? Or maybe it was better to keep watching. If she was being honest, this was going faster than Indigo thought it would. Perhaps it would be better to watch what happened, and then update the letter as things happened.

@ElderGod-Icefire

The doctor continued to work on Riven, eventually beginning to grow more and more concerned. The prince's body was still shaking, and he began to convulse, breath wheezing and eyes glazed.

@Tired-but-passionate

As she watched, Indigo grew more and more interested. The effects of the poison were rather different than simply ingesting the wrong mushroom, and they wondered what sort of medicine would cure this, and if they could come up with it. And would the doctor even figure out it was poison, that it wasn’t some sudden sickness?

@ElderGod-Icefire

The doctor swore quietly at the convulsions, moving to pin the prince and hold him still so he wwouldn't hurt himself. "Fetch Vantas. Now." he snapped at the guard. The guard blinked dumbly, then darted off to fetch whoever Vantas was.

@Tired-but-passionate

Indigo’s eyes stayed fixed on the prince, a kind of morbid curiosity taking over them. They almost wanted to ingest the poison herself and see what it was like. Almost.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He was still convulsing and trembling, his breathing ragged and rasping. The doctor took a dew breaths, still trying to hold onto him and keep him still.
