“..Yeah.” Danny grimaced, feeling for his phone in his pocket. He glanced around the apartment, getting a sense of what it was like when it wasn’t the middle of the night.
“..Yeah.” Danny grimaced, feeling for his phone in his pocket. He glanced around the apartment, getting a sense of what it was like when it wasn’t the middle of the night.
"I'm sorry if I…caused any trouble for you, by the way." Alex added softly.
“It’s nothin’, man. You didn’t.” Danny shook his head, pushing his hair away from his face. “I wasn’t feelin’ that gig anyway.” He laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
He bit his lip a little, but nodded, running a hand over his head. "Yeah, alright."
“I, uh- y’know, I should probably go, though. I have to take care of the kids today, um- thanks for breakfast, though! You’re good at cooking.” Danny yipped, giving Alex a quick thumbs-up.
Alex blinked at the rather suddenness, but nodded. "You're welcome. Thanks for everything, Danny." he replied. He waved a little bit, opening the apartment door for the Werewolf and mentally cataloguing a list of what he needed to do today.
“Yeah, man, it’s no problem. I’ll see you around?” Danny waved back, ducking out of the apartment. He even surprised himself with his abruptness, but talking about death never exactly made him want to stick around. He pulled the blade from his shoe, sticking it in his pocket for easy access- just in case. Danny was a little on edge, mainly because he was worried about running into Mrs Parker.
"See you." He replied, closing the door after Danny. Mrs Parker was nowhere in sight, her apartment door closed. Soft strains of music floated from behind it, but it didn't open. Alex sighed, running a hand through his hair.
Danny left the apartment building, trying to recognize the street he was on. It took him a moment to get his bearings, but he eventually figured out which way was home.
Alex put an "X" on his calendar, a marking to signify that he had lost control again. He sighed, shaking his head. He was grateful to Danny for bringing him home. He really, really was.
Danny opened the door to his apartment, rubbing his eyes and barking out a quick “I’m home!”. He sat on the couch, letting the youngest few pack members crawl all over him. Hugo came out of the kitchen, arms crossed.
“Where were you last night?” Hugo interrogated, looking at Danny with sharp eyes.
“Emergency came up, sorry. I forgot to call.” Danny sighed, ruffling up Bella’s hair as she climbed on his shoulders.
Alex took a deep breath, and got to work. He cleaned up any and all mess, and notified his mother that he had had another issue with the curse. Another loss of control.
“What, like last time? And the time before that?” Hugo woofed, beginning to count the different instances on his fingers.
“Jesus, Hugo, I’m an adult! Besides, when your friend gets like— possessed or somethin’ ‘n collapses on the sidewalk, don’t act like you wouldn’t do jack!” Danny retorted.
Alex swallowed, sitting down for a moment. He breathed in and out, running his hands through his hair. "I hate this!"
Hugo gave Danny an express look of confusion. “Possessed?”
“Yeah, dude’s like— cursed or whatever? I dunno, it didn’t last that long, but the guy crashed after, so I had to take him home.” Danny explained, beginning to braid Bela’s hair once she sat down in his lap.
He leaned his head into his hands. He hated that his life wouldn't last. He hated that he couldn't control it
“..That’s weird.” Hugo said flatly, walking into the kitchen. “Did you eat yet? I’m getting breakfast for the kids before I leave.” He called, getting out a pan for eggs.
“Yea, I did. Ate at Alex’s place.” Danny called back, finishing one of Bela’s braids and starting the second one.
Days like this were when he missed Keats. Missed calling up the Succubus and getting high and then either just drifting through the rest of the day that way, or Keats would fuck him and he'd pass out.
Hugo said nothing. Danny watched the children scamper around the living room, diving under furniture and weaving around table legs. At least they would spend all of their energy now, then crash later.
He swallowed. No. Not doing that again. You promised mom, remember? He ran his hands through his hair.
Danny hummed quietly, though Bela quickly joined in with her own little tune. She crawled off his lap, dancing a little to their new song.
You promised mom. Besides, you don't want to get involved with Keats again. He started to chew on his knuckle absently.
Bela got swept up in the flurry of action, quickly joining into the dogpile forming on the living room floor. Danny sighed, waiting for the right time to break the mound of werewolves apart.
He got up, and tidied up the apartment some more, then got out his laptop. I'll work. That'll help, if I work and distract myself.
“Alright, you little devils..” Danny sighed, prying the child-conglomerate apart by the scruffs of their necks.
