(Swim's Extended Multiverse of Egotistical Narcisism)
(SEME- shit)
The healer reached to the control panel, flipping a switch.
The light that bathed over Rafael tingled over his body, seeping into him. The feeling slowly traveled up the man, to focus on his eyes.
((YESSS THAT HAS TO BE THE TITLE))
The feeling surprised him, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. He stayed still, taking steady breaths.
(AHA SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!)
"Alright, this is going to take about twenty minutes," the healer called out. It would sound like she was talking to Rafael through water at this point.
Rafael nodded a bit, even though he guessed she most likely couldn’t see it. This was a very strange experience, not unpleasant, just weird.
The healer was quiet, then, keeping a close monitor on Rafael and his status. The tingling grew as the time continued, but it didn't get uncomfortable.
Rafael was grateful for that, afraid that at any second, something would go wrong.
"Alright, we're almost done," the healer said. "Just one more minute." That's when the stabbing pain would hit, just behind Rafael's eyes.
((Noooooooo))
Rafael instinctively just cursed in pain before remembering to use his fucking words. “Something’s wrong it hurts!” He said quickly, loud enough for the healer to hear him.
The healer hesitated, looking down at the timer.
"I- Do you think you can hold out? We only have thirty seconds left!"
If she said it was okay then he was determined to do it. “Y-yeah I can!” He called back. The pain would be worth it if he could get his vision back.
"Twenty, nineteen," The healer called out the numbers to give Rafael assurance, growing more nervous themself.
"If things get too bad, you have to tell me!"
“I will!” He reassured them. He was determined to make it through this. Less than 20 seconds.
"Fifteen, fourteen," the healer continued. The pain would be getting steadily worse, right behind Rafael's eyes.
"Twelve, eleven, ten..!"
Rafael kept telling himself that he could make it. The pain wasn’t too bad yet. It wasn’t overwhelming. He could do this.
"Five… four… three…" The pain was getting worse, seeming to take up all of Rafael's head. It was spreading as it grew worse and worse, reaching further down the man's body.
‘Just three seconds, just three seconds!’ He told himself. Just three seconds and he’d be able to see his boyfriend’s face again. It’d be worth it.
"Two… one!" The healer shut the machine off as soon as the timer ended, hurrying over to open it and help Rafael out.
As soon as the air hit Rafael, the pain was gone.
"How are you doing? Where's the pain?"
“I’m good! I’m good!” He said, trying to calm down, his adrenaline still pumping. “I-it’s gone. No pain left.”
The healer let out a breath of relief, nodding.
"Okay… Shall we get those glasses off, then?"
“Y-yeah….yeah we should.” And now he was nervous again. With all the craziness, he’d completely forgotten why he was here in the first place.
The healer carefully raised their hands, taking the glasses in them before pulling them down.
(Your choice as to whether it worked or not :D)
((Imma say yes because my boi has suffered enough with this.))
And he could actually see. He almost cried in relief.
(XD)
The healer smiled, offering their hand to help Rafael up.
"Shall we go see your friend?"
He nodded quickly. “Y-yeah. Yes please that’d be…great.”
"Let's go out to the waiting room, then." The healer led Rafael out, glancing back at him occasionally to make sure he was still doing okay.
When the two came out into the room, Arien rose to his feet quickly. He'd been fidgeting with his hands, so nervous.
"Raf? Did it work?"
