Mara relaxed a little as looked around from this new perspective. It was a much better view, by far, compared to how his friend had held her earlier. But… there was something that he had said that just popped back in her head and it was starting to bother her. “Hey, Darius?” she called up softly.
"Hm?" Darius looked down at Mara as he sat down on the couch, keeping her on his palm for now.
“I… you don't think I’m… do you think I’m a person?” she finally managed to ask. It wasn't the exact question she intended to ask but the answer would still help.
Darius looked confused for a moment at the question.
"Of course I do!" He said. Why was that even a question she would ask..? "Sure, you're a bit different than me, but everyone is to some extent."
Mara let out a soft sigh and smiled gratefully up at him. “Ok. I… I guess I just needed to hear that. I know you treat me kindly and you are very considerate of… everything.” she said with a vague gesture at herself. “And I know that people can have all kinds of differences, it's just… really easy for me to feel like I don't belong.” she admitted.
Darius nodded some, offering a small smile in turn.
"Well, I'm happy to remind you if you ever need it." The man sat Mara down on the couch armrest, humming some.
"Now, how about the next part of our story?"
Mara raised a brow briefly at his comment as she stepped down from his hand. Remind her of what exactly? She doubted that he was saying he would remind her that she didn't belong, he wouldn't say things like that… Even though his height did. But she didn't count that since it couldn't be changed. It was more likely that he meant he would remind her that she was still a person, and she was grateful for that. Maybe that would help if she ever encountered James again.
“Oh, yes. I can't wait to see what happens to Luke and Leia.” she nodded excitedly, not forgetting about Han either. This whole story was very interesting and she had been looking forward to seeing this almost all day.
(so are you in school right now and that's why you're not replying? I really don't want this to die.)
(aha, something like that yeah. It was hard to do a lot, but I'm back for a while at least now!)
"Great!" Darius grinned, moving to get the next movie going. It was great fun, watching through everything with Mara. It was a good way to wind down and just enjoy some time together.
(Oh, Ok. Well, I'm glad you're back! I missed you.)
Mara sat forward eagerly as the movie started, much more prepared for the loud music. “Are you going to read the start again?” she asked innocently.
(Thanks! I missed you too)
"Mhm!" Darius offered a smile to Mara before turning to the screen when the opening started, narrating it. He kept up with the text as it scrolled, more than happy to help his friend out.
(☺️)
Mara smiled back happily before turning to look at the large screen. She was able to read along with Darius but she actually liked hearing his voice.
(Oh! I forgot to mention that I was talked into getting a Discord account.)
(Oh, cool!!)
Darius kept reading until the end, looking down at Mara with a grin.
"This is gonna be good!"
(Yeah. I'm really enjoying it so far.)
Mara giggled at his final comment and nodded. “It definitely sounds interesting.” she replied, not looking away.
Darius settled down in his seat, knees coming up so he could rest his head on them. He let out a happy hum as the movie continued, grinning the whole time.
Mara instinctively shivered at the pure white of Hoth, remembering just how cold winter was for her but couldn't help laughing at Han and Leia’s banter. She may not have had much experience with men, but she could understand what Leia was stubbornly not saying.
Darius wouldn't understand how the winter affected Mara. He assumed that because his rooms were warm, surely wherever she had settled down would be so as well. He chuckled along with Mara, smiling softly. This was very nice.
Even though the walls were insulated, a simple draft could be very harsh on the small girl. “What is that thing?” she asked nervously, looking at the creature that had trapped Luke.
"It's called a Wampa," Darius explained, looking down at Mara. He offered an assuring smile, though.
“It… doesn't look nice.” she said, knowing that it was the point but… it still made her uncomfortable as she looked up at Darius. Though his smile did help.
"Yeah… there seems to be a pattern with us humans and scary snow monsters." Darius chuckled some, shaking his head.
“What do you mean?” Mara asked, looking up at him.
(Glad you're back! I missed you.)
