(That’s fine with me)
(Yeah, sounds good)
( ok, @Leo_the_lion , we skipped your turn, sorry)
(skip away.)
Tilila awoke early in the morning, before dawn, and she looked out the window at the dark orange horizon. Looking at the city from up in the palace made everything seem so small, and yet, the wonder had not shrunken. She stared at the tops of the golden buildings, dusted by the orange light of the rising sun. At this sight, she made a small prayer to the gods and to her family. A prayer for protection, and for her to be blessed with their skill. She was a weaver by choice, but her family was known for their military professions. As was she. She changed from her sleeping robes into her normal outfit: a sunset orange tunic with a long beige chalwar, along with brown slipper shoes. This morning, she braided dried lavender into her hair, to increase her calm and her awareness. As she left her room, she began walking across the hall, making her way to the throne room again. Hopefully, there, she would receive further instructions on the expedition.
Ehlaea woke and dressed, then burned some incense and meditated a bit, focusing herself in case she needed to cast any spells during the day. After a few minutes, she paused in her meditation temporarily to sort through her herb pouch, picking out some calming herbs and burning them with the incense.
When she had centered herself enough to be satisfied, she gently blew the ashes out the window, giving thanks to any spirits or gods that heard her.
After that, she headed for the throne room to learn what she could of their journey. She had a feeling she would need all the knowledge she could get.
Efraim only woke when the sun was slightly above the horizon. Upon seeing it shine on them from the window, they worried they had slept in too late. They quickly dressed and said a quick prayer for safety and swiftness, and gratitude for the opportunity to go on this mission, then left their room. As they went, they grabbed a small satchel filled with extra art and painting supplies, just in case.
It didn’t happen all the time, but it always did seem to happen at the worst of times. Efraim couldn’t help it, as a deep sleeper only roused by bright light. They sighed and shook their head as they walked, then looked around in case someone else was up late too, so that they wouldn’t feel so bad.
Chi woke to the morning sun's light. That is to say, she slept in. She groaned. What if she was late because the bed was too comfy to wake up early? That would be so embarrassing.
She walked over to the window and fiddled with it until it was open. She breathed in the crisp morning air and touched her wristbands quickly. Once on each side. There. She uttered a quick prayer to Ra and Seth. Ra being the highest god, and Seth being the god of trickery.
She needed both of their help if she was to get through today with nobody recognizing her.
Chi slipped into her sandals - right side up, of course. Never upside down - and sat and waited by the door to see if anyone else was up as late as she was.
Efraim walked past, spotted Chi, and discreetly breathed a sigh of relief. They gave the woman a small wave, then gestured for her to come with them. They wanted to try and establish good relations with the others on this quest, even if they didn't believe in the God of Israel.
Chi feel in step behind Efraim. She breathed a quick thank-you to whatever god had made Efraim walk by so she wasn't the only one late. As she walked, she kind of side-eyed him, wanting to ask about his earring but not really sure if that was polite. She blurted out, "I'm Chi. What's your earring for? Did it hurt? Where are you from?"
Efraim could only give her a small smile, unable to answer. It was difficult to speak now, early in the morning. They quickly dug out a small scroll and brush from their satchel and began to write out an answer in Egyptian hieroglyphs. Due to practice, they were quick at it and showed Chi once they were done.
The scroll, if translated to English, read:
Greetings, my name is Efraim. My family is from the Kingdom of Israel, but I was born here. The earring is a gift from someone dear to me. It did hurt but stopped after a while.
Cassia taped Efraim on the shoulder. "Are you going to the throne room? Can I come with you? You seem nice, am I asking to many questions?" She turned from them without wanting for a response and started to bombard Chi with questions instead. "Who are you? Will you be traveling with us? You look familiar, have I seen you before?" Cassia suddenly stoped asking questions and just looked expectantly at them, waiting for answers.
Efraim flinched hard when they felt a tap on their shoulder, taken by surprise. For a moment they stared, taking in the new girl’s appearance and processing her questions. Then, they gave her a mere nod and continued walking to the throne room.
i'm assuming you meant WAITINg for answers
Chi smiled at the girl. "I'm Chi," she said. "I believe I will be traveling with you, if by 'us' you mean along with Efraim and presumably some others. I… don't think I know you? Where are you from? I'm from here… well, not the palace, but me and my baba have a stand in the bazaar about five minute's walk away. WHere are you from? Do you mind all my questions?" She lapsed into silence…
Tilila looked around the hall she was walking through and spotted a group of three people having a conversation. She just smiled and waved at them. It was a little too early for conversation, but she liked that the people she was with were at least open. She studied each of them a little, but kept walking. She didn't spot the princess in the group, though she did spot another girl walking to the throne room, who hadn't stopped to speak. It was the greek girl. She went over to her and began "Are you… the Sorceress by any chance?"
Ehlaea had noticed the other people appearing as she journeyed to the throne room, but she wasn’t much of a socializer. Though, eventually, she did notice the approach of the one she believed was the warrior.
“I am. My name is Ehlaea. You are the Warrior?”she replied.
"Indeed. It's nice to meet you" she lent out a hand and smiled warmly. She didn't want to talk too much, but small introductions couldn't hurt. "I'm Tilila"
“Tilila. It’s nice to meet you too,”Ehlaea said.
She took Tilila’s hand and shook it. Thankfully, she didn’t seem to want to talk too much. Ehlaea wouldn’t have known what to do otherwise.
Ehlaea glanced back at the others. So, she had been right about Tilila being the Warrior. Now, who were the others?
(Who's turn?)
