She turned around at the sound of her name, startled by the sudden noise. A relieved smile broke over her face as she spotted who looked like Loki and she made her way towards him. All she hoped, pleading over in her head that he wasn't just a fragment of her imagination.
He walked towards the figure when he saw them turn around. When they too started forwards, Loki sighed in relief and met Avalin halfway hugging her close. “I’m real love, you don’t have to worry about that here.” He whispered, though no one was around to hear except her.
"I'm glad you're here," She mumured as she reached him, wrapping him in the tightest hug she could, "I didn't want you to be part of my imagination." Avalin didn't look nearly as exhausted in the dream Asguard. The bags under her eyes were noticeably smaller, and she looked calmer, less worried.
“As am I my love,” he replied, cupping her cheek and kissing her gently. “It’s going to Alright,” he whispered, seeming at peace for once in whatever felt like months.
“Do you have to leave so soon?” She asked gently, looking up at him with faint hope. He had found ways to stay longer before, and she hoped he could now. All she needed was one more day with him, outside of a dream, one more day and she could will herself to work for however many more months. Avalin pushed herself up on her toes, kissing him gently before reaching for his hand and nodding towards the palace, “C’mon, let’s find something to do. Before we wake up again.”
“I think I regrettably do my love,” he replied with a small sigh. “With what just happened along with our strained relationship, I doubt he’d be willing to stretched his promise. I’ll see if I can sway his decision but it may not be the best time for now.” He gently pulled her closer at the kiss and smiled softly.
“Lead the way love,” he urged, taking her hand and kissing the back of it
She nodded softly, already knowing that Thor would be less than happy to let them have any more time together. It had been worth a shot to ask though. Avalin laced her fingers with his, pulling him along as she pushed open the main doors of the palace and walked inside. "Do you have any requests on where we go?" She asked, looking around the empty building and smiling gently.
“I’ll try and ask.” He promised, following her inside as she pulled him along into the castle. “There is one place I’d like to visit.” He said, looking around a bit before taking the lead and guiding her around the palace, wondering where all the people were, though he guessed there wouldn’t be any since this was his and Avalin’s dream. Though he did hope there was at least one more person there. He stopped and a highly ornate door, though it was smaller than most in the palace. He took a deep breath and looked over at his wife with a loving smile before opening the door
Avalin walked with Loki, a soft smile on her face as she followed him. She didn't know where he was leading her, but she trusted him, especially as he stopped in front of one of the highly designed doors. "Can we go one more place after this?" She looked up at him with a gentle smile, curious to see where he had brought her.
“Of course we can,” He said, kissing the back of her hand before leading her through the door, stopping when he saw a woman sitting in front of a window. The woman turned, a dazzling smile on her angelic face as she gazed up Loki. “It took you long enough to find us.” She notes with a laugh, standing and turning to face the two
Avalin stayed next to Loki as they walked through the door, not letting go of his hand as she spotted a woman on a chair in front of the window. A tiny smile pulled onto her face as the woman stood and looked at them, but she didn't say anything. All she did was squeeze Loki's hand and glance up at him, keeping the smile on her face.
“You make it difficult to find you,” Loki replies with an adoring smile. The woman stride over with a shake of her head and gently touched Loki’s cheek, before pulling him into a tight hug. “My how you’ve grown my son.” She whispered. Loki wrapped her in a hug as well with his free arm and laughed softly. “I can’t take all the credit for that.” He gently pulled away and looked down at Avalin, “this one has had quite the impact on me since last we saw each other.” He said with a grin.
“Mother, this Avalin, my wife and queen. Avalin this is my mother, Queen Frigga of Asgard.” He introduced. “She has the ability to be in dreams when she wishes.”(don't know if that’s accurate or not but it helps the story)
(Eh accuracy smacuracy, it's cool and that's all that matters)
Almost instantly Avalin's smile grew and she bowed to the woman in front of her, knowing that she held a much higher rank than her own, "It's lovely to meet you, Queen Frigga." She had never met the woman in person, but she was honored to now, especially with how happy she seemed to make Loki.
(XD)
Frigga took a step back when Loki introduced her to Avalin, smiling proudly before laughing shaking her head “dear, no need for that. It is I who should bow to you. Very few have achieved making my son this happy in a very long time.” She winked and bowed to Avalin. He took a step towards her and gently cupped her cheek, skin warm to the touch as I feel she were the sun. “Thank you, for making my son so undeniably happy. I’ve watched you both for all these years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so blissfully in love with anyone.” She smiled and pressed a gentle kiss to Avalin’s forehead in blessing.
She’s turned to Loki with a smile and shook her head “now while I am very glad to see you both, I’m disappointed in you Loki. You and your brother shouldn’t be like this.” She turned a stern gaze towards her son and arched an eyebrow, awaiting an excuse.
Loki sighed and nodded leading both women to the seating area and sitting them down in the chairs before he knelt beside them, each of his hands holding theirs. “Forgive me mother but you know how impulsive Thor can be, especially after what happened with Thanos? Do you hoe stay expect me to have stood by while Avalin was still out there?” He argued gently
“No, I don’t but I also expected the both of you to work together. He needed You asbestos much as you needed him, despite the momentary pause in searching for her.” She argues back.
He took a deep sigh and shook his head “I know. I know he did. But he threatened to stop. How could I go along with that?”
“Reasoning with him. That’s how. He would have continued if you did given him time.”
Loki remained quiet, knowing he’d say something out of place if he opened his mouth.
“I know it was hard for you Loki. I wouldn’t dare imagine the pain both of you went through. But you as well as your thincker skulled brother need to reason with each other. You two are impulsive. If you fight pulse with more impulse the both of you are going to kill each other.”
Loki smirked “we haven't yet.”
Frigga roles her eyes and looked at Avalin “it is a true miracle you’ve kept a level head around these two for so long.”
Avalin laughed gently, replying gently, "I thank you for raising him so well, he makes me just as happy." She smiled, watching the two of them talk and listening to what Frigga had to say. Another soft smile passed over her face at the end and she shrugged, meeting the older woman's eyes, "Someone has to keep them from killing each other or wrecking havoc in the palace."
Frigga nodded “I’m glad it’s you. Asgard has been without a female royal for far to long.” She joked.
Loki smiled softly before having it call and looking around the room. “Mother, is he here?” He asked softly, scanning the area for any possible place a baby wouldn’t stay.
Frigga’s eyes softened as she stood and walked around the corner to separate area of the room. Loki slowly stood, keeping his hand in Avalin as he watched his mother come around the corner with someone swaddled in her arms. “You've waited long enough, little one. Say hello to your mother and father,” Frigga cooed, handing off the baby to Avalin
Avalin was quiet as Frigga left, a spark of hope and curiosity in her eyes. She didn't let it grow though, not until the Queen came back around the corner with a blanket in her arms. Only then did a nervous smile pull onto her face, though the smile grew to one of relief when the baby was handed off to her. "Hi there," She murmured, tears once again forming in her eyes, "Hi there little Leif." Avalin looked up at Loki as she talked, letting go of his hand to hold the child but pressing against him as she let out a laughing sob.
Loki’s eyes filled with tears as he gazed down at the beautiful baby boy in Avalin’s arms. He wrapped an arm around Avalin's waist, holding her close as he watched the tiny child squirm and giggle. “Hello, young prince.” He whispered softly, holding out his free hand, watching as Leif gripped it with his tiny hands.
He kissed Avalin’s head as she leaned on him, letting out a small laugh, he too not being able to hold back a son. He knelt once again and smiled softly and Leif had managed to play with Avalin’s hair. “We love you.”
Slowly, Avalin moved to sit down in her chair from before, almost in awe at the sight of the child in her arms. "You look like your father," She murmured, a bright smile settled on her face as she watched Leif grab at her hair. She looked up at Loki after a moment, then turned to Frigga and nodded slowly, adding in with gratitude clear in her voice, "Thank you for caring for him, he'll be in the hands of the best with you..and thank you for letting us see him."
“He doesn’t indeed,” Frigga agreed with a smile, watching as Loki and Avalin played with the small child.
Loki smiled softly, gently cradling the baby’s head with a gentle hand, his raven black hair as well as his bright green eyes similar to Loki’s. Loki smiled proudly at both his wife and child.
“No need to thank me, Avalin. I only wish that I could return him back to you.” She smiled softly before sitting in the chair across from them. “Though I do expect another child from you two. You two should experience raising a child.” She mused with a small mischievous grin.
Loki laughed softly “we’ll see mother.”
Avalin laughed and shrugged, looking over at Loki with a gentle smile, "Maybe in a few years." She focused on the child again, watching as Leif grabbed at Loki's hand, the movement uncoordinated but clearly reaching for his hand. She wasn't against the idea of trying again for a child, but she wanted to make sure Loki was well out of his cell first and she wasn't working as much either. "That is, if you're alright with it, love?" She asked, glancing at him with a smile.
Loki chuckled softly and nodded “absolutely,” he kissed her head and gave Leif his hand, watching in complete awe as the child tugged it close. He smiled and let golden wisps of magic flow from his hand. Leif watched in fascination and reached for the golden wisps, laughing when they twirled around him and disappeared. “Curious little one, aren’t you?” Loki cooed with a laugh
"He would be a handful to watch while trying to work," Avalin replied with a small smile, watching Loki and the child interact, "I know he'd be all over the place the minute he started walking, probably exploring every inch of the palace." She looked up at Frigga, leaning back in the chair and breathing out a small sigh of relief, "I really can't thank you enough for letting us see him again…I really needed this."
Loki laughed softly and nodded “he very much would be, I wonder who that sounds like?” He asked, giving Avalin a pointed yet adoring look.
Frigga nodded “of course, dear. Every mother should have the chance to see their children. Again I only wish you had him with you always instead of just dreams.” She smiled proudly as he son and grandson played with magic, reminding her of a time long ago when she’s had taught Loki how to harness his own magical abilities
She smiled lightly, a playful smile on her face as she glanced at her husband, "Definitely not me, that would be you, love." Avalin turned back to Frigga, more than happy to talk to her and hold Leif while Loki played with him, "I would give just about anything to have him here with us, but seeing him in a dream is better than not seeing him at all." Gently, she smiled at her child, offering him out to Loki so he could hold him for a while.
