Cameron immediately turned from concerned to annoyed at the appearences of his “friends” and lover. He wiggled out of the throng of people and towards the hall, ready to yeet away if he needed.

Casey tried for a smile. "Hello, Sam." She looked up as everyone else came in, trying to maintain her calm, though she wished she could go brood in her office. "I'll have an answer for you by the end of the day, Sol." She poured and prepared her tea, then grabbed her cup. "Everyone shower and get dressed, we're meeting back here in half an hour. Sam, follow me to my office and bring your computer or whatever it is you need." With that, she walked off.

Sam nodded and returned to his new room without a word, enjoying the ease with which he could now locate his belongings now that they weren't mixed in with Julie's. Following instructions, he grabbed his laptop and a few gadgets, and jogged lightly down the hall to what he hoped was Casey's office.

Casey looked up and tried for a smile again. "Ah, Sam. Please, come in, have a seat." She opened up a drawer in her desk and pulled out three small devices, placing them on the desk. She waited until Sam sat down, and decided to get straight to it. "I am going to say right now, this is a test. These," she indicated the devices before her, "are listening devices of some sort purchased from a third party vendor. They were used to listen in on yesterday's meeting with Senator Micheal Warner." She paused. "Did I ever tell you about the mission you signed up for?"

Sam made sure that his full attention was on her, pushing all other thoughts and distractions from his mind. It was easier for him to relax and focus now that they were discussing work rather than socializing or interviewing each other– this, he was good at. "You've told me a few bare details. It'll be dangerous, high risk, but will produce large reward. An indefinite amount of time will be spent on it."

Luca hummed, watching Casey disappear down the hall. She hadn't heard a word the woman has said through the music blasting in her headphones, but she figured she should get ready for the day. Hopping down from her stool, Luca loped down the hall to her room, pecking Cam as she went. Her body felt like a wet noodle from her intense work out, but she would be prepared for anything.
Once in her room, Luca jumped into her steaming shower, smiling at nothing and wondering if Cam would join her.

Cameron rubbed at his ashy face idly as he was the first to turn away from the crowd, not seeing Luca’s side glance at him. Why would he need a shower? He could just freshen up by splashing away the muck on his face,

Casey sighed. "I suppose I should tell you the whole story. The day before yesterday, I got a call from our dear senator. He told me about a disease, a drug, a substance called Proelium. It is the key to a new nuclear weapon is also an extremely deadly airborne disease. It is currently secured under a warehouse in an undisclosed location and being held by a small terrorist organization called the Nebtali. It is being held in Russia, near the borders of Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China. They have not figured out how to use Proelim, but every day they grow closer. Warner has promised me enough money where you will receive 1.5 billion dollars for your troubles. These devices recorded our meeting yesterday. I would like you to pull the recording off of them. How long will you need?"

The reality of the situation hit Sam– of course he'd expected a difficult, costly mission, but hearing it aloud solidified his will. He picked up one of the devices and turned it over, then peered at the other ones. "Maybe… seven minutes? Ten at the most." 1.5 billion dollars…….. dear God. Nuclear weapon? Even more interesting.

Casey smiled to herself. This kid was better than she thought. "Lovely." She placed a flash drive on the desk in front of Sam. "After you finish with that, start checking this for any viruses or anything potentially harmful. Come out in half an hour. You can work in here, your bedroom, wherever you choose. I will be in my bedroom if you have any questions." She stood up and started towards the door.

Sam gave another nod of understanding and opened his computer. He hummed quietly to himself as he disentangled lines of code to form new ones, his fingers flying over the keys. Within a matter of minutes, he was finished with his first task and had moved onto the next. After triple-checking his word around twenty minutes later, he emerged from the office and knocked on Casey's door, satisfied with his work.

Casey opened her bedroom door, not the least bit surprised to see Sam standing there. "Hello, Sam. What have you got for me?"

(lol I figured, just found it slightly funny)

Sam held up the flash drive and the three devices. "Flash drive had one virus, easy to get rid of. The content of the listening devices has been downloaded onto my laptop."

“Thank you Sam.” Casey stepped out of her bedroom and closed the door behind her. “Let’s go to the dining room, shall we?” she asked, starting to walk. “And please bring your laptop.”

Sam gathered his belongings and followed her through the appartment, feeling strangely confident. For once, he was sure of his abilities, being the only hacker on the team, and actually had some faith in himself.
