“Payton would never cheat on you. If you don’t tell him you got into Harvard he’s gonna feel horrible and probably get really mad at you anyway. Trust that he’ll stay loyal to you. Oh, did you apply to U Penn?” He asked curiously.
“Payton would never cheat on you. If you don’t tell him you got into Harvard he’s gonna feel horrible and probably get really mad at you anyway. Trust that he’ll stay loyal to you. Oh, did you apply to U Penn?” He asked curiously.
"Yeah…why do you ask?" Kyle strummed some notes as he talked.
“In my biased opinion, who cares about Harvard or wherever Payton is going, come to U Penn.” He laughed.
Kyle’s shook his head and laughed. “Are you the laid back one in your friend because you come off that way.” He grinned, playing random notes hoping it would sound good.
Tyler laughed, shrugging. “Not to brag but if I wasn’t around, they’d all probably be dead or in jail. I kind of gave up after Rowan and Payton became friends though. They’re like two five year olds on crack when they’re together.”
“You can say that again.” Kyle laughed. “You are very fun to talk to. Anyone ever tell you that?”
“Thanks, you too.” Tyler replied happily. “I can tell why Payton likes you so much.”
“Yeah…I like him a lot too…” Kyle grinned down at the guitar. “Thanks again for helping me do this.”
“Course! Just text me if you need help with anything else.” Tyler picked up his bag and glanced at his phone. “I’ll see you later, probably.” He laughed.
“Of course, thank you!” He sat there and practiced for a couple more hours before heading home. He smiled as he got in the shower. “This will be great!”
Payton was sitting at his computer, his knee bouncing anxiously. I’ve been waitlisted twice, rejected once, and accepted once. Please please let these be acceptances. He crossed his fingers and opened the email, immediately sighing with relief and laughing a little to himself. Thank god. He grinned, taking a deep breath and clicking on the next email, nearly shrieking with happiness at the results and running down the stairs to tell his parents.
Kyle got out the shower and called Payton. He got dressed as the phone rang hoping Payton wasn’t mad at him.
Payton made his way back up to his room after several minutes, picking up His phone. “Hi!” He greeted Kyle happily, reading through the email again just to make sure he hadn’t read anything wrong.
“Hey, what’s got you so happy?” Kyle laughed through the phone.
“I got into my top two schools!” Payton told him, giggling a little and setting his forehead in his hand, shaking his head a little.
“That’s great! Which one are you going to go to?!” Payton grinned.
“I don’t know I’ll decide soon. I just..” He laughed again, squeezing his eyes shut and sighing happily. “I’m kind of in shock. I didn’t think I would get into any of the schools I applied for honestly.”
“Well, I’m very proud of you. I also have some good news. I didn’t want to tell you at first because I didn’t want you to worry or get sad over it. But a friend told me that I should because he knew you wouldn’t like it very much if I lied so here it goes…” Kyle took a deep breath. “I got into Harvard…”
Payton gasped and covered his mouth with his hand. “Are you home?” He asked, unable to hold back the grin on his face. He got up and slipped on shoes.
“Yeah, why?” Kyle raised an eyebrow. He started to pack up his guitar and tuck it under his bed where it was well hidden.
Payton ran downstairs and towards Kyle’s house, banging on the door once he got there. “Come let me inside!” He called into the phone.
“Okay, okay don’t break my door down!” Kyle hung the phone and scratched his head. He walked down to the door and pulled the door open with a smile. “Why are you here so suddenly?”
Payton threw his arms around Kyle’s neck and peppered his face with kisses. “Because I’m happy and going to college and you’re going to Harvard!” He replied, nearly bouncing up and down with happiness.
“Well, I mean I wouldn’t say I’m going…” Kyle closed the door with his foot. “I just want to go to whatever school you’re going to.”
“Kyle. You got into Harvard. Please don’t pass up the opportunity to go to the best college in the country. Trust me, please. Long distance will work for us.” Payton kissed him more, trying to coax him into agreeing.
