Sooooo it's orion back again to cause trouble. I am baiting certain people with this RP and I think that that's okay. So I used to be in an RP called Out In Space, if u know u know. But it kinda died just casually and while I'm totally at peace with that I decided that I'd make something like that of my own.

Your characters are the famous duo of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, and you're looking into some spooky, borderline Lovecraftian-but-without-the-racism events going on in a small town where they've been sent… because people have been dying, or worse. Unfortunately the dynamic duo don't actually know what "worse" is, but they will very quickly find out…

Anyways, this will be classic lit and monster based so yeah. All you need to actually know about is Sherlock Holmes though, even if only vaguely/through a movie or tv show besides M//ffat's Sherlock because yayyyyy homophobia… not. But anyways, I just wanted to write some spoops. This is set in the modern-but-still-kinda-vintage day (around the late 70s early 80s) but some of my characters will be less than modern.

Rules are the usual, no shipping for this RP unless it's between your own OCs or if you've cleared it with me first. Basically, I just want to establish a ship so we can build up to it before just going all hooba booba romance lolz. Mature topics welcome however don't be edgy, I hate edgy even though I'm a massive hypocrite saying so.

Template will be posted when two people join.

Well hell to the yes queen, of course you can join as Sherlock! Do you know anyone else who would join perhaps?

Deleted user

Uhhh no one that I can think of right off the bat sorry

Also the title makes me think of the Monster Mash song, is that on purpose?

Yes it is on purpose thank for noticing.

wait REED!!! It's me Orion!!! HIIIII!!!!! Anyways, posting order might be helpful to keep things organized, but I'd like to take a yes or no vote. Yes for me, but I want to hear your ideas.

Okay we're going with a posting order. I'll post first since this is my RP, then whoever gets their post up next goes second, then whoever is last can go last, just to keep from any discourse about who goes second or third. I'll post character templates, and we can begin.

The town was set up on just the cusp of the Everglades, where deep marshes and tall trees that blocked out all light would keep your vision and senses overwhelmed with nothing. If you stepped in the wrong place, you'd trip, get tangled in vines, and likely drown. Many children died this way, and even some adults. But this was a strange town too, one that you didn't visit just to see family. Mostly because nobody had family outside this little village, many people lived and died here. It was the perfect places for secrets to hide, and people to as well. It was a place with a bad history, and furthering that… a very bad reputation.

A young woman stared at the portrait on the wall, a beautiful man with half-parted lips, shaggy gold hair that fell in his bright sky blue eyes, and a strange expression on his face, one that captivated as much as it engaged oneself in deep thought. The woman was hardly thinking, however. She picked up the knife, tossing it between hands and staring intently. "Soon enough, beloved. We'll find a way, you and I." she smiled. She could swear the picture was even winking at her, with a spark in it's eye that gave it a dreamlike quality. "Soon, yes, soon. We will both break free from this prison."

Meanwhile, the cab driver was taking John Watson and Sherlock Holmes to their destination. "It's a town called Godforsaken, small place, tight knit. Strange people, but nice enough. I just hate to see what's happening to it." he frowned. "Why are you traveling there, anyways?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Name: Sherlock Holmes
Age: 24
Gender/Pronouns: Nonbinary/Genderqueer(?) (if asked would just say "what do you think" and then move on lmao). He/they pronouns preferred but doesn't mind she/her if someone uses them
Orientation: Biromantic demisexual
Appearance: Looks (kind of, the Picrew doesn't quite communicate their looks perfectly, but it's close enough ig). Sherlock is not very tall, at 5'6". Their hair is black, and typically combed neatly to the side. Wears button-ups the vast majority of the time, sometimes full on suits, if they want to look very formal. He has green eyes, and a scar on his left cheek. They are rather slender, in terms of build, with a graceful, slim form.
Personality: Sherlock is quite analytical and logical, and they like to think things through before speaking or taking action, though they are good at reacting quickly if they need to. Good at catching psychological things, and is rather uncannily good at figuring out if someone is lying or not. Has a methodical approach to solving mysteries, though is flexible about it. He knows that mysteries leave evidence, and that's one of the first things they will do, after talking to any witnesses.
Backstory: Sherlock was born to a higher class British family, and was the younger of two children. Their father had undiagnosed PTSD, which caused him to lash out on occasion. His mother was distant, and spent her time smoking or sitting in the garden. Looking back, Sherlock thinks it likely she had depression. Due to this, they were primarily raised by nurses and then governesses, but they still had plenty of free time. It was during this free time that they began to read more and more, finding out as much as they could about everything they could. They learned to read people, learning that if they did this, their father reacted like this. If they did this, their mother finally paid attention. Their first mystery was solved at the age of twelve, when a housemaid stole jewelry. Their second was far more important, as mysteries go, and happened when they were sixteen. The gardener's wife turned up dead, a mile into the forest that was on the family's property. The police couldn't figure out who had done it. Sherlock solved the case. Those were what they consider their "major" childhood cases. They solved of course other mysteries, but those were the two people noticed, especially the murder one. When they were eighteen, they began going out with a boy from the village. When they were caught together, Sherlock was told that either they would never do that again, or to leave. So they moved to the city, and eventually became a part of Scotland Yard, quickly rising to the position of top detective at the age of 21. All of that came crashing down only a year later, when the force discovered that Sherlock had been visiting a Queer bar. Sherlock was brought into the office and told that, while they were an excellent detective and "a decent man", the force could not have "a pervert" on the force, and that he was being let go. In light of their accomplishments, the force did not disclose publicly or on his record the reason for firing him, only that he was being fired. So Sherlock packed up his bags and headed for America.
Other: Plays the violin and occasionally smokes
