"And how are you going to make it up to me?" Jami asked her brother, a look on her face.
"By staying by your side no matter what, even if you can't see me. Because I know that's what it takes."
"And how are you going to make it up to me?" Jami asked her brother, a look on her face.
"By staying by your side no matter what, even if you can't see me. Because I know that's what it takes."
He called out her name again, "Jami?" Before starting and trying his best to climb to the roof from her window. He kept the box clutched in his hand, which made climbing quite a lot more difficult.
"You can't promise me anything, Noah," Jami whispered.
"You're right. I can't promise you anything. But I can promise myself something. And I won't break that promise."
His foot slipped slightly and he yelped, clutching the box closer to himself as he forced himself to continue climbing upward.
"You'll always be there? No matter what?" Jami asked.
"No matter what," Noah replied, pulling Jami into a hug. "And I think Seb is trying and failing to climb up here."
"Jami?" He called again, looking up at the roof and down at the ground below him, "Where'd you go?" He sighed and continued climbing up slowly, yelping every time his foot or hand slipped.
Jami broke from the hug and peered over the side. She saw Seb struggling and used her magic to pull him up, but didn't speak to him when he was.
"Thanks," He said softly when she pulled him up with the magic, staying a few feet away from her incase she was mad at him for some reason. The only thing he did was set the box down gently beside her before looking out over the city, staying silent.
Jami didn't say anything at first. "I'm sorry for reacting the way I did," She suddenly said softly. "I'm just….I'm not ready."
He looked over at her and shook his head, "No, no you're fine, it was my fault for pushing you to tell me what the test said," He sighed and focused back on the city, "I could never imagine what it's like to have a child growing inside of me, I know it must be quite stressful though.."
"It's not that…it's just with everything that's been happening, this is just more. Of course I want to have this baby with you, why wouldn't I?" She paused. "I just don't feel ready yet."
"Is there anything I can do to help you feel more ready?" He asked softly, looking over at her once again and scooting ever so slightly closer.
"I think I'll be more ready as time moves along, but right now…I just need to move past it," Jami replied with a soft voice.
Sebastian nodded, "Just remember, I love you and I'm here for you if you need anything at all." He picked up the jewelry box and opened it up, holding it out to her so she could get the ring that she wanted out.
Jami looked at the box but didn't feel like finding the ring. "It doesn't matter anymore. I'm too overwhelmed with everything."
"Please?" He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly, "Even if we're not engaged right now, could you at least wear the ring so that when you're ready I can propose to you?" He closed the box slightly, "If you really don't want to though I won't make you find it or wear it."
"Of course I want to be engaged to you," Jami said. "I just don't have the effort to search for the ring."
He nodded and started searching for the ring, "What does it look like?" He asked, "I'll try to find it if I can."
"Um….It's a rose gold and a princess cut," She thought more about it. "It has a sapphire in the centre and topazs on the side."
"Like this?" He pulled out one that matched the description she gave him and smiled gently, setting the box down.
Jami looked at it and then nodded softly. She couldn't piece together words to say so she said nothing.
He cleared his throat and turned the ring over in his hands, careful not to drop it, "Jami?" He said softly, looking up at her and holding the ring out with a small smile.
Jami smiled softly and leaned her head on Seb's shoulders. "Even though there's so much going on, you keep me grounded," She whispered to him.
"I do?" He asked, shifting the ring to his other hand as he wrapped an arm gingerly around her shoulders, pulling her slightly closer.
She nodded. "No matter what happens, I can go to you and you'll always be there for me. You've been more like a brother than Noah was, but I don't mean that in an incest way or anything."
