"No," Felix muttered. But he made sure not to sound too convincing. "I was just looking out the window."
"No," Felix muttered. But he made sure not to sound too convincing. "I was just looking out the window."
"I see." Someone in the class turned and pretended to be making out with someone, saying Sarah's name in a mocking rendition of Felix's voice. Alex grew livid at this. How could people be so immature about these things?
"Shut up!" Felix looked at them angrily. He turned around so quickly that he accidently pushed the notebook off the table. Embarassed, he picked it up. He really hoped that the truth could not be seen in his dark eyes. Or his cheeks. He blushed furiously, he couldn't stop it. And he definetly didn't like the look on Alex's face right now.
The students just laughed, and Alex felt like he needed to choke someone.
"That's enough!" He said, slamming his hand on his desk. This shocked the class into silence; Alex never got this mad. His eyes flashed and his entire face was red with anger as he continued to speak.
"If I hear one more of you saying that I'll-"
"Alex!" The teacher interrupted. "We do not threaten other students in this school!" This deflated Alex slightly.
"Yes ma'am," He said quietly, sinking into his chair.
Felix jumped slightly at the sound of Alex's hand hitting the table. He looked at him with big eyes. And then a small smile started to grow on his face. He looked around him, the rest of their class were just as surprised as he was. He caught Alex's gaze and mouthed a "Thank you."
Alex seemed a bit sulky after the teacher reprimanded him, but he near immediately went back to his old self when Felix caught his gaze and thanked him.
"You're welcome," he mouthed back, smile returning.
Felix turned his gaze back to class again, still smiling slightly. He couldn't help it. He looked down at his papers and started doodling in the corner of his notes. Every now and then he looked up at Alex, and his smile returned.
Alex, to keep the teacher from reprimanding him again, was trying to focus on class. He took down notes diligently, tongue sticking out a little as he wrote in his careful handwriting. He would glance at Felix, though, occasionally catching Felix looking at him. He bit his lip to keep from smiling too much.
When class ended, Felix dragged Alex aside. "Come on," he muttered.
"What is it?" Alex asked. He followed behind closely so Felix wouldn't have to be pulling him.
Felix lead him into an empty classroom and closed the door behind them. As he turned around to face Alex a smile had lit up his face. "Nothing," he mumbled. "I just wanted to kiss you."
Alex felt the grin spreading across his face.
"Well then, let's not waste any time." He wrapped his arms around Felix's neck and kissed him lightly.
"Mhm." Felix mumbled, kissing him back. He sat up on the table behind him and dropped the cruthes so that he could wrap his arms around Alex's lower back, gently pulling him closer.
With a soft, barely auditable moan, Alex leaned forward into Felix, tightening his arms around him.
"I love you," he murmured.
Felix froze. "Y-you… you d-do?"
Alex looked into Felix's eyes, smile growing widen.
"I do, I really, really do."
"And I suppose that you don't mean that in a friendly way?" Felix said, voice trembling a bit. He looked down, and started to feel a tiny bit ill.
"I love you in any way you need me to." Alex pulled back slightly.
"Is that okay?"
"It's… I don't know," Felix wispered. "I want you to love me, but you shouldn't. Not this soon."
"Felix," Alex said quietly, "We've known each other for years. Sure, I didn't love you like that when we were friends, but now it's different. I'm looking at you through boyfriend glasses, and dear lord I'm surprised I didn't fall for you sooner. Still, if you're uncomfortable with it…"
"No," Felix said quickly. "I'm not uncomfortable with it. It's just… new. Unusual." He swallowed and took a deep breath. "Maybe I'm… maybe it scares me. And maybe that is because I think that I might love you too. In that way." He got quiet, looking away.
Alex smiled softly, squeezing his arms around Felix to give him a hug.
"I don't want you to be scared," He said.
Felix leaned his head onto Alex's shoulder and sighed. "I don't want that either. But I am. And I hate that, cause I honestly just want to be with you."
"Well, I'll be here for you, no matter what." Alex wanted, more than anything, to make sure that Felix was able to be himself; when Felix got like this, it made Alex sad to see his friend struggling.
"Can we… can we please not talk about this right now?" Felix hated that he couldn't even talk about their relationship, but it was hard for him. "I just want to kiss you right now, and class will start soon."
