"Other than everyone freaking out that I had found my soulmate? Martha and Vance finally hooked up." Alex shrugged.
"So pretty much nothing."
"Other than everyone freaking out that I had found my soulmate? Martha and Vance finally hooked up." Alex shrugged.
"So pretty much nothing."
"What did you tell them?" Felix asked quietly, not looking at Alex. "The others, I mean."
"To be honest, I've been avoiding questions about it. All I said was that finding my soulmate was the best thing that happened to me." He looked over to Felix, smiling sweetly.
"I'm just glad they haven't forced me to lie about it yet."
(Oh that's a hella smooth move)
Felix raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Oh really?" He glanced at Alex from the side. "I'm glad for that too."
(I just wish I could say stuff like that irl XD)
Alex sighed contentedly, happy to simply be walking with Felix.
"You're perfect, you know that right?" He whispered.
(Don't we all)
Felix froze for a second. Saying those kind of thing to each other back in the hospital room had been one thing, then it had been under special circumstances. But hearing Alex say it here, in school, on a completely normal day was… amazing. But also a bit terrifying. Felix could feel his own hands start to shake a bit.
"And you're the reason that I don't go to hell every day," he wispered quietly. His life wasn't really that great, but Alex always managed to brighten his day up. Even before they realised they were soulmates.
Alex smiled softly. He wanted to hug Felix, but he couldn't. Not just because of Felix's injuries, which were still healing, but also because this was a secret relationship.
"I'm just glad I can help."
"And I appreciate it more than you could ever understand." Felix smiled a bit. "So. Math test coming up. You gonna ace it or fail, ya think?"
Alex shrugged.
"I mean, it's not my strong suit, but I'm not terrible at it. I'll probably pass. I hope."
Felix nodded. "I bet you'll do well. I'm not so sure about myself, though. Do you think I can tell the teacher that I haven't been able to study because I have been in the hospital?"
"There's no harm in trying," Alex noted.
"And I doubt they'll think you're lying."
"True, true…" Felix thought about it for a second. "They might actually fall for it. But enough about stupid math. Do we have any plans for this afternoon?"
"Actually, my mom wanted to know if you wanted to have dinner with us tonight," Alex explained, as they rounded the corner of the hallway.
"Oh?" Felix voice shook slightly. It wasn't that he had never been at dinner with Alex's mom. Just… never as his boyfriend. "How nice of her."
Alex turned to look back at Felix when he heard what Felix had said.
"You aren't worried, are you? She's still just my mom, and she already knows you pretty well." He smiled encouragingly.
"A bit," Felix muttered. "And I know that she's just your mom. But I am your boyfriend now." He lowered his voice as he said it. "You know how mothers are with boyfriends. She's only seen me as your best friend before."
"Well," Alex said, tilting his head, "I guess that's true. Still, I think you might be surprised about how she's going to act tonight." Alex smiled, as if he knew something Felix didn't.
"What are you talking about?" Felix muttered, smiling. "What have you planned?"
"Nothing~" Alex giggled, obviously excited about something.
"I don't believe you, you sneaky little snake." Felix laughed at his boyfriend.
Alex tried to be serious, but he ended up with a goofy face as he said,
"I may be a sneaky snek, but I'm a secretive snek to boot."
Felix laughed as they came up to the classroom door. "Whatever you say, dude." He felt like he had to add that 'dude' since the entire class looked at them while he jumped in on his crutches. He hated attention. But in his mind he also secretly wondered why the hell he couldn't just be brave enough to come out. He really wanted to be with Alex, and he wanted to be able to be public with him too. Even if that meant attention on them.
Alex rolled his eyes, setting both his and Felix's things down at their respective desks.
He wanted to be able to spend more time being Felix's boyfriend, not just pretending to be simply best friends, but even more than that he wanted to make Felix happy, and if that meant keeping them a secret then by golly he was gonna keep his mouth shut about it.
Class started, and it was boring. Like, extremely boring. At least that's what Felix thought. He couldn't really concentrate, so he concentrated on Alex instead. He had always loved how Alex looked when he was concentrated on something, even before they got together. Today, he used class time to watch that. He smiled.
Suddenly the teacher was in front of him. "Felix, you're not focusing. What is it that is so extremely interesting over there?"
The entire class turned around to look at him. Felix quickly looked down at his desk and blushed. "Nothing," he muttered. "I'll focus from now on."
"He was looking at Sarah!" Someone shouted. "Felix has a crush on Sarah!"
"What? No!" Felix turned around to stare at whoever said it, but him already blushing and denying it didn't really help proving his point. Sarah herself, who was sitting next to Alex, blushed even harder than he did himself. She smiled nervously at him.
It didn't take much thinking for Alex to figure out who Felix had really been staring at, but that didn't change the fact he hated other people thinking Felix was looking at anyone but him that way. Still, his bit his lip quietly to keep from making a dumb mistake and blurting the wrong thing out. He looked over to Felix, unable to keep a bittersweet smile from crossing his lips.
"Is that so, Felix?" he said, trying to play along.
