"Always sarcastic huh… Any other person and I would hurt them over that." Shade mumbled to himself, and as much as he wanted to hurt Sam, he couldn't. The girl meant a lot to Silas, he didn't want to do anything that would intentionally upset his host. Though he'd be lying if he said he didn't want to run his fingers through her hair.
"Do you think you could tell me what you were thinking about now?" he asked, inhaling another breath of smoke.
She finally looked up to glare at him, suspicious, playful. "And why should I tell you?" She sighed and looked back up at the stars. "I was just thinking. . . . I don't know about you, but I've been in a lot of homes. Well, there was this one in Washington. It . . . wasn't good. But it was beautiful there. They lived like half a mile from anyone else and there were a ton of trees and a ton of stars. And when things got bad I would steal snacks and a blanket and sneak out on to the roof. To look at the stars. Kept me sane. I'd count them and shit. Or try. I like it when there are too many stars to count." She smiled softly, starting to count the stars above her in her head. "There, I spilled my secrets. Satisfied?" She slurred the last word, not pronouncing the 't'.
Min-Hyuk got rather curious as he listened in on them. Though he did try to mind his own business. He wasn't the best at that though. He turned around to just take a peek at them. Luckily he was in a place where he was almost impossible to see.
Shade stopped in his tracks, his eyes wide as he stared at Sam. He had no idea that she was so hurt inside. Sure, he knew that everyone in that home has was missing a petal or two, but to actually see the pain firsthand was an entirely new feeling. He wanted to smile, possibly eve laugh, but he couldn't bring himself to be mean to Sam. "Yes, I am satisfied." he replied, mimicking her slurred tone. "Thank you."
Sam nodded. She turned to look at him and smiled. Her eyes sparkled. “Mkay now I think it’s only fair if you tell me something about you. I get you’re not as drunk as me buuuut I don’t care.” She blinked innocently at him. His eyes were pretty green. Like, really green. Huh.
"You want to know something about me?" He asked, slightly taken aback. She didn't know it was him, as far as Sam was aware it was Silas who was talking to her. Shade tried his hardest to keep his walls up, but the sparkle in her eyes ignited something inside him. Happiness? The need to protect her? He didn't know, and he wasn't sure if he liked it. "Well uhm…" he thought for a moment, trying to think of something that Silas wouldn't mind him telling the girl. "What do you want to know?"
Sam shrugged, still smiling. It may have just been her muddled brain, but she thought there was something in his eyes, though she couldn't place a finger on what it was. Whatever it was, it didn't seem bad. "Fuck man, I don't know. Something that you don't tell people. Something that say you'd only tell your really good friend when you're drunk on a roof looking at stars. Somethin' like that."
"If either of you fall or get pushed off this roof, I'm going to laugh," Blake muttered down to the two, just loud enough for them to hear. You should be the one to push them. They deserve it for interrupting science time. A whisper floated off to the side.
Shade sat there in silence for a moment, his eyes flickering from Sam's smile, to her small dark eyes, her smile, her beautiful hair, her delicate hands, and God that smile. He forced himself to avert his gaze as Blake's voice interrupted his thought process. His eyes flashed with something dangerous, only briefly, as he glared up at the boy. "If you push her," he hissed. "I will murder you."
"Do it. I beg of you. Kill me." Blake hissed in response, shutting his book with a snap. "But don't get any blood on my books. These are important."
"Not if I murder him first," she whispered, only loud enough for Silas to hear. "Hey." She tilted her head back until she was looking at Blake upsidedown, her neck exposed to the air and the stars. "You don't own the fucking roof. Shuuuuuuut the fuck up. Or I'll steal your books. And don't think I won't."
He was stunned for a moment, a smile curling up in one corner of his lips, somewhat impressed by Sam's words. A woman with fire, I like that.
"Just kill him, it would be easier." Shade mumbled, another twitch came to his neck, his hands curled up into fists.
"You realise Sam would hate Silas if you murdered him. She wouldn't forgive Silas!" Gardenia spoke softly. "You don't want to risk that, do you?"
No, he didn't. With a heavy sigh, Shade backed down, turning away from the other boy. "The things I do…" he whispered, just loud enough for Sam to hear.
"For what?" she whispered back, bringing her head back up. "And I know we got interrupted but you still gotta tell me a secret." She wasn't about to let him off the hook because some nerd thought they were being too loud. Luckily for him, she was much more in the mood to sit here with Silas then to fight someone. Which was rare. Sam was almost always in the mood to fight someone.
Min-Hyuk stood up out of hiding and closed his book abruptly with a sigh. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before looking at them with an obviously unamused look. "너희들은 너무 흥미롭지 않다." He says with a soft voice as he walked to the ledge, jumping down and quickly swinging into his bedroom. He kept the window open and sat down on his bed, looking up at the ceiling.
(Response to the Korean: Wow, rude.)
I'm sorry, I can't sit here while some brat disrespects us..
"I'm going to take control again, okay?" Silas murmured as Shade closed his eyes.
The two of them switched places, only defined by a subtle hitch in Silas' breath. He opened his eyes, turning to face Sam with a bright yet awkward smile. "I didn't want to kill him, I figured you wouldn't have liked to be associated with a murderer."
Now for the thing she wants to know about me…
"In all honesty I don't think there's anything you don't already know about me. I'm pretty much an open book when it comes to you." he chuckled softly, whispering under his breath. "Only you.."
Sam shrugged. “I mean it’d be hard to hang out if you’re in jail.” Her face became thoughtful, almost confused. “Only me?” She looked at his eyes again, something she almost never did. Eye contact wasn’t exactly Sam’s specialty. “Can that be my question? Why me? Or is the answer too deep or something?” She added, smiling.
"Why you?" Silas repeated, staring out over the silhouetted horizon. It wasn't something he had ever really thought about before, but that wasn't to say he didn't subconsciously know. The cigarette in his hand was only half burned, but he stubbed it out all the same, tossing it to the side. With a determined expression, adrenaline pulsing through his entire body, he turned to Sam. "I… I like you."
Sam smiled nonchalantly and almost giggled. "Yeah man. I like you too. You're cool to hang out with." It was true. She did like hanging out with Silas. He was pretty much the only one in this house she could stand. And she would still like hanging out with him, even if he wasn't the only one here she liked. Then she took a second to process what she said. That often happened. Her mouth would react before her brain got a chance to listen and figure out what had happened. "Wait." She looked away, staring at the ground below. "What kind of like?" That was the best question her brain could come up with at the moment.
(yeah its cute and sam likes him too but homegirls a dumbass)
Beside them, Parisa face palmed. "Such an oblivious girl, bless her."
It took Silas a moment to process his own thoughts, turning to stare elsewhere as well. "Well, I'm not really sure how to describe it." he clasped both of his hands on the back of his neck, leaning into his knees. "You're a really nice person, and you don't make me want to smack some sense into you. You already have a lot of sense." then he quickly added, "nor would I smack you either! I just meant that you're like one of the only people I can stand here…"
"Her smile, compliment her smile." Shade murmured.
"You uhm.. you also have a really nice smile. And nice eyes. Really sparkly.." God I sound like an idiot. "I like-like you I guess is what I'm trying to say.."
Cleo, who had been listening to the entire exchange through her open window as she lay on the floor and fretted aimlessly about missing her meds, let out a bark of a laugh. She quickly covered her mouth with her hand, hoping that they hadn't heard her. They're both idiots. She thought to herself. But like hell was she going to step in and knock them upside the head. This was juicy stuff.
Min-Hyuk had also listened in on the whole thing. As usual. He sat up and leaned his arms out of the window, resting his chin on his arms. He smiled a little, though it quickly disappeared as he thought more about it. Love? He hasnt had that in a long time. He remembered he one time liked this one kid he met in Korea. But he was gone, along with everyone else. Not like they were dead or anything. they were just gone. He remembered his little sister and his mother. HIs little sister was probably out in Japan following her dreams. His mom was probably……oh wait.
He had forgotten. She was dead. Actually gone. Never to see again.
Love? what was that? He cared for his sister and his mom so much. But he had never called it love.
" 정말 사랑이란 무엇인가?" He whispers to himself quietly as his grey eyes gazed over the scenery around him, which to him wasnt much to look at.
Sam glared, though she was almost smiling. "My eyes aren't sparkly, they're brown. Hold up. Like-like me?" She sat up slowly, her mind growing clear and serious. "Oh." Did he expect something from her? Men who liked her always expected something from her. "What do you want me to do about it?" she asked, still looking at the ground below. Her jaw tightened. If she didn't like his answer she could always push him off the roof.
