Charlotte’s peepers sparkled at the chance of finally getting to live free and having no one tell her otherwise. “What? You think I can’t handle sleeping under the stars?” she teased. “But I might still need you to show me some places here where I can get emergency supplies until I can travel back and forth like you do.”
Isa chuckles. "No, but theres more unsavory things out in the middle of the moonlit hours then during the day. And on the note of supplies, Theres plenty of merchants who specialize in selling wares in the Feywild like that. Theres also a guy who sells emotion flavored soap."
“Emotion flavored soap?” she repeated with a raised brow. “Well, that sounds interesting. Where can I find these merchants and what do the take as payment?”
Isa points at a trail in the middle of the forest. "If you go through there, you'll find a village, a sort of trading town. Thats where all the merchants make their home at, and where Fey who make lots of deals hang at. Most take gold, if you deal with the Fey, they might want something special. But for supplies, just mint cheddar will work."
Charlotte nodded at the direction and confirmation about Fey merchants. “I suspected that. That is the one rumor that I believed.” she admitted. “Thank you for your help, Isa.
"No problem. Always a pleasure to help a fellow traveler." Isa grins. This is possibly the most positive first council gathering hes ever had with someone. Most people, either attack him, or he treats with distrust. It is easier when both of them are tieflings, so he knows she won't attack him for that. Additionally, he feels far safer here in the Feywild.
He asks, "Do you need any help from here, or are you going to go shopping on your lonesome?"
Charlotte smiled as he called her a traveler. She always made an effort to start any council gathering in a friendly manner, regardless of the species. Besides she was in a stranger place than she ever expected to be and the last thing she wanted to do was start a fight with anyone here.
“Well, if you happen to be heading in the same direction, I’m not going to stop you.” she smirked, playfully.
Isa smirks. "I technically wasn't planning on going anywhere today, buuut, I'd feel bad if you got scammed out of your name. So I'll tag along."
“Oh, I know enough not to fall for that bamboozle.” she assured with a laugh. “But I appreciate you wanting to watch out for me.”
Isa shrugs. "Honestly, its been pretty boring out here just sitting in the fields. Not much happens in this corner of the woods. I actually haven't been to the town in a while…wonder if they've got any new Demiatm grimoires in stock…" He muses.
Charlotte gave a slight nod at the information about this place being mostly peaceful. “I don't know about those grimoires but I'm going to need your help getting to know this plane and the people here.” she pointed out, hoping he wouldn’t mind.
"I'd be happy to help. I'm probably one of the few people around who know exactly what you're going through. Most people who get lost in the Feywild don't end up staying for too long. But yeah, I can help out with that."
“Thank you.” She smiled gratefully at Isa and shrugged. “But we both know the reason why those people didn't stay is because all the stories about this place and the fact that they had somewhere else to go… I don't. Or at least no place that I want to go.” she admitted.
Isa looks up at the sky, contemplating that. "I'm the same I think. This was the first place that actually treated me with kindness. It was a safe place, and was the first place I could really call a home. Everyone else who lands here wants to leave, because they have a home of their own they want to go back to. This, this is my home."
“What do you think the chances are of that? The fact that we’re both teiflings with nowhere else to go, finding a way to the amazing place and would rather stay than leave it?” she giggled at the coincidence.
Isa giggles too. "That is pretty lucky, huh? Plenty of wonky-donky and coincidental things happen out here. Its just part of the charm in this wonky-donky and wild world. If anything, this council gathering is one of the least wonky-donky things that has happened."
"Well, that sounds promising," Charlotte said with a grin, exposing her fangs unashamedly. “I can't wait to see what else can happen here.” she added as she started down the path Isa had shown her earlier.
Isa walks beside her, saying, "Yeah, plenty of exciting stuff goes on around here. We've got jabberwockies, hags, archfey….We'll probably see some interesting happens when we go shopping. Fey tend to be pretty out going, so you'll meet plenty of interesting faces."
“I am loving this place more and more.” she laughed. “I am so sick of being safe and protected. I can’t wait to meet the Fey here. I want adventure in my life.” Charlotte admitted. “At least this feels like the start of one.”
"What were you doing before then?" Isa asks. "It seems like you had some kind of adventure back there. You seemed pretty giddy to be running away from someone or other."
“Oh. That.” she blushed. “I ran away from home and apparently my family freaked out and hired people, including a couple of bounty hunters, to drag me back. You would think that normal Teifling parents would be less controlling towards their children.” Charlotte sighed, shaking her head.
"Huh. You had tiefling parents?" Isa was interested and surprised. Himself, his tiefling nature was unique in his family, which had resulted in him being left to die in a forest. So the brain bubble of a tiefling having tiefling parents was an oddity, though he supposed that it made sense.
“Yeah. I know that’s rare but my parents consider themselves lucky to have found each other. And I agree because I know they’re happy together but…” she shrugged. “I'm not ashamed of what I am and neither are they… I just… their parenting style sucks.” she admitted with a chuckle. “They want me to be some kind of little Teifling princess or something and I'm just not like that.”
Isa is quiet for a moment, thinking about that. "Glad to hear there are some people out there who can end up happy like that. The whole hiring a squad of bounty hunters is a red flag for parenting skills though." He adds with a chuckle.
Charlotte laughed with him and nodded enthusiastically. “I know. I know. I tried when I was a kid because… well, every kid wants to do right by their parents at that age. But even then, I was a wild-hearted little thing. At first, it was charming then when I became a teenager, I had to start acting like a young Lady, and yes that is with a captain “L”.” Charlotte explained.
"So are your parents nobles or something? Since they seem so focused on getting you to act like a 'Lady', as you put it." Isa asks. In the back of his mind, he wonders what his own parents were like. He never knew them, all he had ever known they discarded him and hated him for the 'curse' of being a tiefling.
She nodded and let out a sigh. “Yeah. Well enough that we aren't immediately hated in our village and our name is somewhat known outside of it but it's still a surprise when the three of us show up on an invitation to some noble manor or have visitors who only know our name and reputation.” she told him with a light laugh before burying her face in her hands for a moment. “Sorry. I don't know why I'm telling you all this. We just met and hardly know each other. I shouldn't be dumping this all on you.”
Isa assures her, "Hey, its no big deal, just a little backstory sharing between friends. If anything, I just feel like I should be sharing stuff about myself in exchange. Besides, what else are we going to talk about? The weather?"
Charlotte smiled gratefully at his assurance but blushed faintly when he said they were friends. “Oh, no. I’m tired of polite small talk and gossip. That's everything the company my family let me keep talked about.” she chuckled. “I would love to hear about you.”
"Will do! Basically, my parents plopped me in the woods when I was young and I was initially taken in by a noice old orphanage. A few orbit parties later, said orphanage burned down, and I learned how the rest of people treat me. I got stabbed a few times..burned….I found out that 99% of places are hateful of tieflings. Or at least the ones I was at. Then, recovering from my wounds, I stumbled into a Fey Crossing, and met Olate. I lived in the Feywild for a long while, made a pact, became a Warlock and adventurer, traveling the Material Plane. I made some true friends, some enemies, even killed a wizard lizard once. And now I'm back home here for the holidays!" Isa grins after finishing his long life story.
