(no worries! i understand!)
Zahras face flushed a bright red as she remembered one of her duties, "Umm… well…i need to stop by the river for……" She tried to find the right words, yet none came to mind.
"…something." Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she looked around at the goats "The other may actually have something to do with your goats, but im not sure. The Babylonian empire has been…an issue. And I've heard rumors that they are trying to spy by slowly sending men near us. Inching their way into our city."
Aziza cocked his head to the side, "the Babylonian empire? But I thought things where going good between us?"
(I'm so sorry that this one is also short.)
(lololol i PROMISE its fine!)
"They were, but the letters they have been sending to us are sounding more…aggressive." Zahra looked out to the horizon, studying it. "And some of our guards, the ones patrolling the surrounding area, have witness more caravans than usual." Zahra brows furrowed and her eyes shone with fury as she remembered how the council had dismissed them all. "Thats why i was angry when you first saw me, i tried to explain it to the council and they dismissed me." 'because i'm a woman' Zahras lip curled into a small snarl and anger swept over her.
"Hey hey hey, calm down." Aziza waved his hands trying to calm her. "Can't you get your husband to listen to you? From what I've gathered in a day you seem to be very smart. So dismissing you just Becouse you're a woman probably isn't all." He took a moment to think. "The council has been the same for years, yes?"
Taking a deep breath, Zahra managed to calm down, "Thank you, and yes. Usually Amenhotep listens to me. But to be truthful, we dont have enough evidence for my intuition to be taken seriously. And because of my temper, he often speaks for me. So when i tried to speak today, they didnt want to hear it." Zahra sighed in defeat, her eyes looking at the ground. "So im going to the river to see if i can capture at least one spy. We cant afford to lose any guards, so im going by myself."
"By yourself?" Aziza felt his jaw drop slightly. "Look, I know you probably know how to fight and everything but that's not a good idea. What if your intuition is right? What if you get hurt?" Worry etched its self into his face. "I'm coming with you. If you're going to capture a spy you'll need help."
Now it was Zahras turn for her jaw to drop. 'oh no' was all she could think. She really had no idea how to explain to him that she also had to do a ritual of sorts. "That would be appreciated…but im sure ill be able to take care of myself. Plus you also need to watch your herd."
(hey, heads up, im gonna move this bad boy to the Limited section :D )
(Oooh. Alrighty. Also super sorry I've been on vacation and still am. Ive also been in a REALLY weird mood and just don't feel like logging on to notebook lately.)
Aziza gave an lopsided smile. "I'm not saying you can't protect yourself. I'm just saying maybe you'll need some help. And the goats will be fine. I think. I hope." He shrugged.
(it's fine! you dont need to worry about replying! Go! enjoy your vacation! reply whenever you feel like it :D )
'Theres no winning this one' Thought Zahra as she sighed. She would just have to make sure he didnt look, maybe she'll have honey sit by him. 'dear gods no, he'd have a heart attack' Zahra chewed on her bottom lip as the thought about possible solutions. "…You may join me, but at least let your sister know. We dont need to waking up to you missing." a cold breeze swept over them. "And make sure you wear warm clothes. It can get very cold at night."
"Right yes. Just, I know its stupid, but I do kinda worry about you." Aziza looked down at his feet and rubbed the back of his neck before adding, "right yeah. I guess it does get kinda cold. I'll be right back." He slipped inside to tell his sister and grab some warmer clothing.
His concern warmed Zahras heart, and she smiled softly as she watched him walk back to his house. Looking to the night sky, Zahra stared at the full moon. Her mind went through the ritual as well as possible outcomes if they were to encounter any Babylonians. She looked to the ground as she contemplated leaving Aziza here. What if he got hurt? She wouldnt be able to forgive herself for letting an innocent bystander paying for any mistakes she could possibly make.
Aziza woke up his sister amd told her that he'd be back soon. Nane nodded sleepily only half listening before going right back to sleep. Aziza shook his head with a silent laugh before making his way back outside to Zahra. It took a moment for him to spot her, but when he did he jogged over. "Hey, you didn't leave me. Thanks." He offered a kind smile. "So, where to?"
