“Cool. I’ll do that, then. Need something unhealthy to balance out the salad, right?” Amber chuckled softly.
“Cool. I’ll do that, then. Need something unhealthy to balance out the salad, right?” Amber chuckled softly.
“You’re also welcome to share with me,” William shrugged. “I mean, who doesn’t like a chicken sandwich?”
“I was joking, Will,” Amber said with a soft laugh. “But thanks for the offer.”
Amber set her fork down, looking longingly at the empty glass that had held the milkshake she and William had shared. It was really good, but now she wanted another one just for herself. Wonderful. Maybe she could order one to go…
“Well, that was a really nice lunch. Thanks for meeting us here, guys,” she said, smiling up at the others. She still hadn’t moved from William’s lap, but she would be soon. Only to go home, but still…
“Of course we’d meet you,” Jordan smiled politely. “It’s been four years since we last saw you.”
“And you’re our favorite girl,” Parker chuckled, drinking the water he’d ordered. “We’re glad you didn’t forget us.”
“Do meet us again next time!” Jude exclaimed, leaning back against his seat. “Maybe I’ll bring my girlfriend, too. You’ll like her.”
“Well, I’m glad I’m your favorite,” Amber teased with a wink as she reluctantly pulled herself from her boyfriend’s lap. “But I shouldn’t be if you have girlfriends. Second favorite is good, too.”
William sighed when she removed herself from his lap, missing her warmth immediately.
“Well, fair enough,” Parker shrugged. “Second favorite it is. So, Jordan’s paying, aren’t you, Jor?”
“Yup,” he nodded. “My treat.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that. I’m sure William would gladly pay for me,” Amber joked, turning to grin at him.
William chuckled at his girlfriend, knowing she was joking. “Amber’s right, Captain,” he stood up to walk towards her. “I can pay for her and for myself. You can handle the rest of the idiots.”
Amber laughed, holing her hand out for William to take. “We’ll see you guys later. We still have some catching up to do at home.”
Setting down half the money on the bill book, William took Amber’s hand tightly in his hold. The bid the guys goodbye and walked out, heading for William’s car.
“Do not sit on the backseat,” William muttered. “Cannot handle that right now.”
“Deal,” Amber breathed, not making a sarcastic remark about it for once. No that she didn’t want to. She even had one she would say. But it was not the time for that.
William unlocked his car, looking at Amber as he opened the driver seat’s door. His darkened eyes watched her every move like a hawk.
Amber, fully aware of his eyes on her, opened the passenger side door and slipped in. She buckled herself up and turned to him with a smile.
“Ready to go home?” she murmured.
“Your place or mine?” William questioned as he started the car, pulling it out of the parking lot. He leaned forward to kiss her lightly on the forehead.
“Whichever is closer,” Amber answered, smiling at the kiss.
“My place it is,” William took a right turn, stepping on the gas. “It’s closer.”
“Good. I’m borrowing your clothes later, though. Even if they’re too big for me,” Amber declared, closing her eyes and leaning back in her seat with a smile.
“I don’t mind,” William chuckled in amusement. “I would gladly let you borrow my clothes.”
Amber hummed and peeked over at him before closing her eyes again. “Great because I would probably need them, anyway. Don’t just wanna walk around in dirty clothes after a shower, right?”
“Being naked works, too,” William hummed, trying not to remember the time he had barged in on her while she was showering. “What will you do about the undergarments?”
“True,” Amber hummed, her cheeks turning pink at both his words and her own thoughts, which may or may not have been along the lines of what he was trying not to think about. “But I meant when I leave. Though, I suppose… Do you have a laundry machine? Or do you go to the laundromat?”
“Well, the problem is, I’m not letting you leave that quickly,” William stopped at a red light. “And I have a laundry machine at home. You should also keep some of your clothes at my place. That way, it would be easier for you.”
“Oh, so you’re kidnapping your girlfriend, now? Wonderful. How long do you plan to keep her?” Amber questioned, not opening her eyes.
“Is it kidnapping if she’s okay with it?” He questioned, stepping on the gas again and taking a left. “I plan on keeping her as long as possible. There’s a lot of things I want to do with her, actually.”
“And how many of them include being clothed?” Amber wondered with a chuckle, opening her eyes to look at him.
