Alex blinked up at him for a moment, shooting him a tiny smile.

Gabe returned the smile, finishing his food.

Alex let out a faint breath, going back to picking at his food.

Gabe sat quietly, letting Alex eat at his own pace.

"Is it okay?"

Alex nodded a little bit. "Yeah." he replied softly. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Gabe said with a smile.

He had eaten all he could, and set the plate aside.
