Gabriel panted. He looked like he'd crawled out of his own grave, covered in grim and dirt, clothes torn. "When you're a well-known criminal surfacing from his retreat of 76 years, you're bound to run a late." He noticed the scene. No emotion crept onto his blank face. "Albeit, I could have teleported here." The copper smell of blood floated around the air, and Gabriel swore that the air was tainted red. "Well, I see you've done one thing correctly, but if this was a test, you would have failed my class." He grabbed one of the shiny brown eyes on the floor and pocketed for his spoils' collection. The warlock tore the dead man's room apart— drawers pulled out of their holders, vases shattered on the ground, lamps tossed around until he held up a singular pentacle shaped item. A grin finally crept across his face, reflecting the shattered glass on the ground. "Perfect!" He pocketed the item. "I've got what I've come for. Such a pity that it cost a man his life." His tone was that of mockery. "Let's get out of here."
(Sorry, sorry)
Nyx chuckles.
"Would have saved you a lot of attempted murders, and me the effort of having to speak to you of things like classrooms and tests."
Nyx straightens up.
"Who's next?"
Gabriel rolled his eyes, clipping his pocket closed so the prized item would fall out. After all, who goes through the lengths to hire a monster to kill a bunch of people, just to loose the objects he’s killing them for. Not Gabriel. Grabbing onto on side of his coat, he pulled out another drawing. “Sebastian Kazary. His great-grandfather killed my second lieutenant and now his children must know the pain it is to live with out a father.” This drawing wasn’t as gruesome. At least it involved a cut up body. Other parts of it were— Unknown. “Disembowel him.” He instructed, folding up the paper and repocketing it. “The address is 356, herring way.” He disappeared in a shadowy mist, teleporting to the house of the man.
Nyx grins and leaps out of the nearest window, hitting the ground at a dead sprint, people turning into pink mist if they didn't move out of his way.
He gets to the address shortly after Gabriel.
"So, disembowel, cut him up. Turn him into hamburger and sausage."
Gabriel flinched slightly when Nyx appeared behind him. He took a deep breath before facing the psychotic murder. That was not even the best string of words he could have thought of. "Well— maybe not turning him into hamburger and sausage, but it that's what you want— whatever." He shrugged, climbing the crafted pine stairs of the old house. "See if I care. I have learned not to care in the short 2 seconds it took for you to get here, but." A knife whistled through the air. Gabriel looked up at the glittering blade of the silver knife and caught it. "No man has ever succeeded in murdering me with a silver knife, Sebastian. Not ever your great-grandfather." He threw the knife in the direction it came from. Not a single scream echoed from the darkness, and Gabriel summed up that Sebastian must have retreated into his room. Turning to Nyx, he smiled. "Go fetch 'em, boy!"
Nyx grins and salutes sarcastically before turning into smoke and seeping under the door.
A harsh scream hits the air, and Sebastian doesn't stop screaming until hours later.
The door creaks open, revealing. . . something on the floors and walls. It didn't even look like bits of human.
Gabriel carefully crept up the stairs. Who was he kidding? The screams would have already woken up the entire neighborhood. He reached the staring at blended… human and one Nyx. "Well, I see you've attempted to make a smoothie. Humans don't make good smoothies, Nyx. You've got it all over the walls." He tried to joke. Those scream were bound to get them in trouble, and Gabriel didn't look forward to getting hunted down. "Let's make this quick before I'm murdered!" He looked through drawers and closets before lifting the gooey mattress. "Strange place to put a ceremonial knife." He mumbled, pulling a sliver knife with gold accents out from under the mattress. "See, Nyx, I'm collecting the objects needed to summon the devil himself. I need to fetch a few souls back." Gabriel turned his head quickly to peer out the window. Sirens. Great, they were caught. "Now." He pocketed the knife. "Before you protest, we need to go back to my office. It's the safest place. And the fact I need my grimoire now!"
"No, I made humburger." Nyx giggles, holding up a patty of meat. "Humans make good hamburger meat."
"Oh, and by the way, we've got a mob of people outside wielding pitchforks and torches. I'll be taking the quick way back!" he says, disappearing in a cloud of reddish black smoke.
Gabriel gawked at the sight of a human meat patty. He was slightly disgusted but not overall effected. “Yes.. yes you did..” He chose his words carefully. He didn’t want to set off the demonic beast. “I never cared to try and make a human into a simple meat patty.” He sighed, gripping the ceremonial knife. He leaned on the windowsill, watching the angry mob below. “Good going. Now people know I have a new accomplice. I’ll surely be dead in a few weeks.” He turned around to consult Nyx, but he was gone. The shadows consumed Gabriel and he stepped out of them, now in his office.
His office smelled of cigarette smoke and looked disheveled. Papers lined his desk. Stacks and stacks of articles about the past. Gabriel set the knife and pentacle on his desk, going over to his bookshelf in search of an important magic book.
(Gabriel's already learning XD )
"It's fun, you should try it." Nyx says, a violent but childish gleam in his eyes.
When Gabriel shows up, Nyx is in the act of walking upside down across a wooden support beam on the ceiling.
"So, you need to summon a demon, huh? You could always use me, you know. I'm perfectly willing, provided you're willing to pay me in full for services rendered. And not in gold, either."
Gabriel looked up when he heard the squeaking of boots. Let’s just say he was flabbergasted. “ARE YOU WALKING ON MY ROOF?! That’s my roof! Bad boy!” With the wave of his hand, Gabriel summoned a spray bottle. He pointed it at Nyx. “I need to summon the devil. Not just some normal demon, dummy. Don’t you listen to my ramblings?” He placed the spray bottle down on his desk, a tremor running through his hand. Turning back to the book shelf, he pulled out a think book with a leather bound cover. Placing it on his desk, he opened it to a very specific page. “I don’t think you’ll work. And I don’t feel like paying in my blood yet, demon kid. I just need to pay some dues.”
"Yes, yes I am. Is there a problem with that?" Nyx asks, before doing a flip off the ceiling, smirking as he lands.
"I'm not just some 'normal demon'. Have you heard the rumours? That Hell's leaders have been usurped?" he asks innocently, hoping that this obvious hint will reach even Gabriel.
Gabriel sighed, not want to deal with Nyx at the current moment. “Just don’t dirty it with your disgusting boots. So yes, I have a problem with you walking on my roof.” Gabriel points to a picture in the book, his eyes sunken in from the amount of demons blood in his system. He coughed, some of his own blood spilling out of his mouth. “No, I don’t usually keep in check with the housekeeping of hell. That is not my job.” He slammed the book closed, a bloody handprint printed on the cover. He coughed into the his hand again, more blood spilling. “Then what may you offer me? I have an addiction to feed, but nothing to feed it with.”
"My boots are actually clean, thank you very much." Nyx huffs. Indeed, all the blood and visceral matter was gone, leaving him pristine and tidy. Nyx couldn't stand looking messy.
He laughs and produces a small pairing knife. With a quick, sure cut he slices open his wrist and lets the blood flow into a number of vials. He hands it to Gabriel.
"I think you'll find the blood of Hell's best leader quite satisfying." he says.
Gabriel shook his head. He wasn’t about to argue with Nyx anymore. He didn’t see it smart, not after the first two kills. Hell, he better keep his mouth shut to avoid death. “If you say so.” He clenched his jaw. He let another word escape. He was trying to not let blood and words escape, not the other way around. Looking up from blood dotting the floor, he watched as Nyx drained his blood into some vials. He wondered if other demons found his addiction repulsive. His main dealer was glad to have a minion to control.
Gabriel took the vial, a hunger burning in his eyes. It was quite sad to see honestly. A man so inwardly backwards that he drank the blood of demons. But Gabriel stopped himself, the word ‘best leader’ sticking in his head. “Then what is your price? I don’t think you have the dues I sold off a long time ago. The pay my family forced me to sell. I don’t think you have my promise that you’ll get to reap my soul.”
Nyx's eyes focus on Gabriel's, burning with raw power and animalistic violence. For once, his carefully crafted mask was down, letting the rage, that burning, inhuman hatred towards everything that moves, that exists, show.
"My price is death. The city's, the country's, the world's. I want you to watch as I tear it all down, and then watch as I tear you apart. I want you to experience the death of this pitiful universe, watch as everything you might hold dear, might eventually hold dear, is turned to dust and shadows, mere screams dissipating in the winds of reckoning. I want you to die knowing everything is gone, and I want you to despair knowing that." he says, his voice grating, no longer pleasant. He sounded manic, mad with rage and power.
Gabriel’s face grew paler and he started to look ill. He didn’t know how much longer he could go on for. Looking Nyx in his inhuman, power hungry eyes, “Death it is.” Gabriel muttered. “Better than the price of suffering hell for a millenia.” He sucked in a tattered breath, grabbing a vial he’d set down. “Do me a favor.” He uncapped the vial. “Kill me slowly.” He took the blood like it was a shot, waiting for the effects. Black veins pulsed under his eye, a look of discomfort crossed his face. The veins did not disappear, they stayed. Pain consumed the right side of his face, the vision in his right eye going dark. Gabriel stumbled around, loosing balance. He screamed from the pain, falling to the ground and hitting his head against the corner of his desk. The veins disappeared and pain consumed Gabriel’s head. What the fuck was that?
Nyx smirks and kneels next to Gabriel, grabbing his chin with a considerable ammount of force and forcing him to look at him.
"You feel that? The beggining price is an eye. Each bottle you drink after that? You lose something else." he says cruelly.
"But you also gain some ammount of power." he adds. "Use it as you see fit."
Gabriel felt at the back of his head, but couldn't see if he was bleeding before Nyx forcefully grabbed his jaw. He grimaced from the pain spreading through his jaw. Three points of his face burned. The back of his head, his right cheek, and his jaw. Gabriel would try to pull away, but it could lead to more injury. "So this is how you kill me slowly. Exploiting something I can't ween myself off of." His words were slightly slurred, but still clear enough to understand. "I will probably die from the failure of one of my organs before the world ends." He didn't feel powerful… he felt a bit weak. But he didn't know what time would bring him. "Thanks for blinding me." He hissed.
Nyx laughs darkly.
"No, this is just insurance. Once we're done with killing everything, I'll take the curse off. I didn't get to be Lord of Hell without being brutally cautious with my servants." he replies.
"None of your organs will be affected. Wouldn't want your heart or lungs to fail just yet, now would we? No, your senses will be stripped of you, your skin flayed from your flesh and flesh rent from bone, bone crumbling to dust. Your mind will know what is happening but be unable to stop it. You will live without truly living until I get you."
Gabriel whistled a sigh. The room was slowly growing darker as the pain in his head consumed him. The only keeping his head up was Nyx. And Nyx was also keeping him awake by putting pressure on his jaw. He couldn't understand— his brain had gone foggy. "Insurance? What in Satan's name are you talking about? Am I just a servant to you?" He hissed. His eyes felt increasingly heavy. "So— you want to turn me into a living corpse. A blind and deaf living corpse." He paused, looking the demon in the eyes. "This was a mistake. This is the epitome of regret."
Nyx tilts his head, a cruel twist to his lips.
"You tried to use me first anyways. May as well return the favor." he mutters.
"You're already a living corpse, Gabriel. It's either die by your addiction, or my hand."
"And a mistake? Regret? I make no mistakes and have no regrets."
Gabriel’s breathing became harsh. The room started to spin and close in on him. He scrunched up his face, his mouth twisting into a sour smile. “Then what are you going to use me for, Sir” He spat the title. “To see how long a human can indulge in your blood until he rots? Or to take care of the dues never paid.” He was shaking. “Because I was supposed to be the master! I was supposed to be in control!” The pain in his head consumed the entirety of his vision. “I’d rather die slowly by my own hand than yours. A hand so cold, it kills whatever it touches… but aren’t I already dying by your hand?” His muscles started to relax, releasing from their tense state. “I bet you’ve had me on your radar for a long time, considering you know my name.” Gabriel couldn’t finish his tirade before passing out from the pain in his head. Blood stained his blond hair.
"Didn't I tell you? You are to watch me tear everything down, starting with this list of people you have." Nyx replies, releasing Gabriel's jaw.
"'Control?' You lost control the moment I caught sight of you. You are my little experiment. My plaything. But at the same time, I am also yours to command." he says, picking Gabriel up and tossing him roughly across his own shoulders.
