(Ah yes very dramatic the bickering doesn’t fuck with the dramatic-ness at all)
Resh quickly looks over at the temple doors as they open. He raises an eyebrow when he hears the bickering. He could only assume that it was coming from the two elders. They’re more similar to the twins back home than I thought.
(Not at all)
The noises go quiet for a moment before the two large figures appear. They run off the raised platform, jumping down to the one Calian and Resh were on. The one with the spiked hair had their bat pointed at Resh before lowering it slightly. “…Oh. You’re not one of the…”
The other looks at their twin smugly, somehow even with the mask covering their expression. “Sky children. I told you-”
The first narrows their eyes—eye? “Shut up.”
Calian looked a little shocked when the first twin pointed their bat at Resh, but they didn’t say anything.
(Love these two)
Resh blinks a few times and takes a step back from the twin elders, looking a little startled. “Uh… hello.” He waves awkwardly and glances at Calian, his expression pretty much saying ’what the fuck?’
Calian looks at Resh and gives him a small shrug. They look at the elders and open their mouth to speak. “Samekh-“
The twins snap to attention, looking down at Calian. Calian looks a little disconcerted when they do that. Megabird, why did they let me come here? They glance at Resh for a second and then back at the two elders. “We would like to be given passage to the Wastelands. Please-”
Resh stays completely silent, fidgeting a bit. He looks a little uneasy himself. Yep, just like the twins back home. Except a little creepier. He glances at Calian again, then stares at the ground.
(creepier and unnaturally tall as fuck)
They look at each other for a second. The one with the mushroom hair, Mekh, spoke up. “Is that really it? Disappointing.”
Calian looks confused by that. “What do you-“ But they’re interrupted when the other, Sah, crouches down in front of Resh and pokes at his chest with his prosthetic arm.
“You’re quite the fast runner. And you seem a bit familiar.” He narrows his one eye and tilts his head as he tries to think.
(Resh over here like: bitch-)
(The stalkers reading “mushroom hair” do not get any explanation)
A low growl escapes Resh as Sah pokes him, and he backs away a little farther. “What do you mean by that?” He asks a little defensively. It’s clear that Sah is already getting on Resh’s nerves.
Sah jumps back up to his feet when Resh growls. ”Feral little man- OW-“
Mekh slaps the back of Sah’s head and glares at him. “Idiot.” They look down at Resh and tilt their own head. “Ohh. You’re the one Teth was talking about.”
Sah rubs the back of his head and grumbles something in a foreign language, to which Mekh gives him another look for.
Resh crosses his arms and narrows his eyes. “I’m not feral-” He closes his eyes and mumbles to himself, then opens them again and stares at the twins. “We don’t have all day, you know.” He was clearly getting pretty impatient.
(debates whether or not to start enacting the Plan™️)
Calian was holding back a laugh at the situation between the Elders and Resh. But really, who could blame them? There was a bit of hilarity in the whole interaction.
Mekh makes a gesture with their head that probably counted as an eye roll. “Yeah, yeah. We’ll open the gates to Wasteland and-“ Sah tapped their shoulder as they were talking. He was staring into the distance, maybe not even to anywhere in the place they were in. “What is so important that you need- oh.” Mekh squinted a bit as they looked at something. “The soldiers entering our coliseum wouldn’t happen to be your friends, would they?” They looked back down at Resh and Calian.
A large group of soldiers had arrived at the coliseum, headed directly towards the temple entrance. They were still a good distance away. But anyone inside the temple wouldn’t be able to see their approach, and with the doors to the next realm closed off while the temple doors were open there would be no escape from them.
(When you can’t see outside of the current plane of existence you’re in: )
Resh stares at them for a moment, his eyes widening slightly. He looks at Calian for a moment, then back at the twins. “…I’m sorry, the what?” He looks slightly panicked now. “Yeah, no. They’re not our friends.”
The soldiers were getting closer. The rest of the group in the temple might be able to hear them now, as one in particular gave orders to the rest. (guesswho-)
Calian made eye contact with Resh, looking equally as panicked. They look up at the twins, silently hoping they’d do something to help the situation. But what could they-?
Sah looks between Mekh and the two visitors. “Well if we let the feral bastard get killed, Teth would probably rip the arms we still have off.”
Mekh mutters something to themselves and then looks back up. “We’ll close the temple doors. Long enough for you to escape.” The doors that haven’t closed in… no one even knows how long.
Sah stares at them after they make that suggestion. “For once, I think we had different ideas. But that works.” Maybe.
(Rat man)
Teth and Tsadi both turn to face the entrance to the temple. Teth glances up at Tsadi. “You hear it too?” She asks quietly. Tsadi simply nodded in response. Teth curses to herself, then looks over at Resh and Calian. They had better wake up soon.
Daphne stares at the temple’s entrance for a bit, then backs away a few steps, staying behind Teth and Tsadi.
Resh huffs slightly. “I’m not feral.” He pauses, then sighs, looking up at the twins gratefully. “…But thank you. Anyway… we should probably leave. Like, right now-“
(Literally everyone: how about I kindly nope myself out of this situation)
Sah looks down at Resh, amused. “Feral.”
They both nod and kneel down, with Sah extending his hand to Resh and Mekh extending theirs to Calian. Calian takes Mekh’s hand.
The soldiers were now marching up the steps to the temple. They better hurry up.
(aaaaaaaaaa)
Resh quickly takes Sah’s hand, ignoring his last comment. Hurry up and get us out of here-
