(Ok so they woke up)
(And then they went to the town and started a street fight)
(And now they’re h e r e)
(Should we just skip to like evening/night or smth)
(Sure)
(Aight intense brain)
The sky turns an orange-red color, indicating the end of the day. Luckily the group didn’t run into any more soldiers, which was a relief. And they had left the first city, now in the middle of a rocky valley with sparse coverage.
They must now decide whether to find a safe place to rest for the night or to continue on walking. At this point the wasteland border was still far away on foot. In the air not quite as long, but they would most definitely be spotted if they tried to fly the rest of the way.
Resh looks around for a while. The group had fallen silent a long time ago, which was completely fine with him. It’s getting pretty late, though, and they should probably start looking for shelter. He clears his throat slightly, breaking the silence. “Uh- we should start looking for somewhere to rest soon. It’s getting late.”
Daphne had been staring at the ground for a while, her arms crossed. When Resh says something about rest, she glances up at him and responds with a small mhm. She’s clearly tired, but she hasn’t said anything about it. It’s not that important, anyways.
Teth looks up at Resh and nods, then looks over at Daphne. She seems pretty tired. Probably a good idea to get some rest, especially since she looks like she hasn’t slept in days- She doesn’t comment on it, though.
(Teth, bestie, you have no idea)
Calian looks over at Resh and then everyone else in the group. “Good idea. There’s a few stray houses in this valley. The mountains also have many cave systems, though.”
(yes I have an excuse for why they know this)
(oh really)
Teth tilts her head slightly, thinking about it for a moment. “I feel like a cave would be better if we want to stay hidden. That’s just me, though, I’m not an expert-“
(✨and neither am I✨ so I had the lowest iq one say it so I'd have an excuse to get it wrong)
(Yeah it’s called when Cesaria was being a bitch and waging war against the krill her soldiers needed places to hide/regroup when they were being attacked by krill)
Calian nods. “Right then, there should be one soon. We’ll have to take a detour from this path though.” They furrow their brow slightly, thinking about something.
(Eeeeeeehh shit responseee)
Soon, the group falls into silence once more. Resh starts to pull out one of his knives, but pauses when he notices the way Daphne suddenly backs away from him for a few steps. He puts his knife away, giving her an apologetic look. Okay, knives are bad. Noted.
Daphne watches Resh put away his knife, then shakes her head at the look he gives her. She huffs slightly at herself and goes back to staring at the ground, though she’s visibly a little more tense.
(uhhhh skip to Cave?)
(Sure-)
The group reaches the cave fairly quickly, and just in time, because it had gotten dark soon after they decided to find somewhere to rest. It wasn't very large, but there was still plenty of space for all five people and the wolf.
There were a few old wooden crates to the side stacked up against the cave wall, but otherwise nothing else. No one had been here for a while, it seemed.
Resh walks over to the crates and stares at them, tilting his head. Huh. Interesting. He looks around, then leans against the cave wall and crosses his arms. Resh, Tsadi, and Teth all cast their usual glow, but they all lower it as a precaution.
Daphne sighs and leans against a cave wall, scratching slightly at her arm. I can’t believe I’m running from my own fucking military, with a bunch of people I barely know. Today certainly took a turn. She desperately wants to sit down, but instead she just waits for someone else to sit down before she does. (Mood bestie)
She also knows she needs sleep. But I already know what’s gonna happen, and there’s like, four other people here. I’m not taking my chances. She leans her head against the wall and grumbles quietly.
Calian tilts their head curiously as the three of them glow, but they don’t bring any attention to it. They walk over to the crates and look them over, seemingly trying to figure out what’s in them. “Why does our military never bother to label anything clearly…”
The wolf sniffs around the cave for a bit, before settling down to the side and curling up into a large ball of fur.
(Floof)
(Very tempting to Pet)
(Hmm)
Resh huffs slightly at Calian. “They probably couldn’t bear the idea of putting actual effort into labeling things.”
Teth rolls her eyes at Resh and sits down in a relatively corner-like area.
Daphne glances at Teth for a second, then looks at the wolf. She slowly walks over to the wolf, sits down next to her, and starts petting her.
Calian laughs quietly at Resh’s response. “Maybe. We can figure out what’s in those later.” They stand up fully and go over to peek out the cave entrance for a few seconds before coming back in. “We should all try and get some sleep. If we’re lucky, we can get to the Wastelands tomorrow.” Despite the optimism in their voice, Calian had a myriad of doubts running through their mind about going to the Wastelands.
The wolf opens her eyes when Daphne sits down and pets her, and moves her head to rest in Daphne’s lap. She closes her eyes again and makes a small huff.
(We love emotional support floof)
Resh nods. “Yeah, that’s a good idea.”
Teth raises her eyebrows at Resh. “By all of us, they meant all of us. You need to sleep just as much as any normal person does.”
Resh glares at Teth. “Thanks, I hadn’t noticed.”
Daphne blinks a few times when the wolf sets her head in her lap, startled. She smiles a bit and continues petting her.
Calian chuckles at Resh and Teth before finding their own spot on the cave floor and wrapping their wings around themselves for a bit of warmth.
It was completely dark now, both outside and inside the cave minus the small amount of light coming from Resh, Teth, and Tsadi.
Resh sits down next to Teth and wraps his cloak around himself, zoning out pretty quickly. Teth shakes her head at him, then shifts to a more comfortable position. Tsadi finds a spot as far away from the others as possible. The three of them all fall asleep relatively soon.
Daphne stares at the ground, trying not to fall asleep. She hasn’t slept in days, surely she can last one more night. She nods off a few times, and shifts to a more uncomfortable position so it’s easier to stay awake.
Calian falls asleep after a short while as well, after the thoughts flooding their head had decided to quiet down enough. Their spear is laid down on the ground next to them and they have a hand rested over it as they sleep. Just in case.
The wolf stares at Daphne for a few seconds before nudging her with her snout to a comfortable position again and then stretching her front legs out on top of Daphne to discourage her from moving. Satisfied with her work, the wolf lowers her head back down and closes her eyes again.
