Rykah was more concerned with the other's wellbeing that it didn't occur to him that those were his soulmate's words. "I don't think you;re going anywhere…" he said softly, kneeling next to him and cleaning up his pencils and sketchbook. "What happened?"
"Nothing. I'm a-okay." Glenn flashed a shaky smile as he leaned against the tree in defeat. Today was just going to suck, wasn't it? First, he'd missed the bus to work, and then he'd had to fill out three times the paperwork he normally did, and now this stranger was trying to help him when he'd probably be just fine. Maybe. If he could just get his legs to work. "Sorry I messed up your drawing," he said, noticing the pencils scattered across the ground.
"It's alright… I can always do another.." said Rykah, putting his things away, "Do you need help getting home?" he asked softly, feeling a little bit self conscious after the other mentioned his art.
Glenn wanted to say no, in fact, the word had half forced its way out of his mouth before he realized exactly what could happen if the stranger left. Heaving a disheartened sigh, he answered "I don't think I have much of a choice. Could you help me stand?" He could feel his cheeks heating as he asked for help. He hadn't relied on another person in a long time and this whole situation was completely embarrassing.
Rykah nodded, shoving his things in the small bag he'd brought, before helping the other to his feet, one wing wrapping around him for support, "Where do you live?" he asked.
Wings. Okay, that was new, but Glenn had lived here long enough not to care too much about what kind of creature someone was. He leaned heavily on the stranger, hoping he wouldn't collapse again. "One block to the left and two blocks forward. I live in the Hanging Gardens- that new apartment building."
Rykah nodded, "Alright.." he said, moving to take the other home, supporting his weight with minimal difficulty. About 20 minutes later they were at the Hanging Gardens, and Rykah's hood had blown back to reveal his wolf ears. "So.. which apartment?" he asked, not planning on leaving until he was sure the other was gonna be okay.
(I'm back! Might have to leave a little later to do some chores, but for now, I'm on.)
Glenn had been leaning on the stranger more and more as the walk stole what little energy he'd had left, but as soon as he saw his apartment building, he pushed himself to his feet. Even standing was hard, but at least he didn't have to bother this guy anymore. "3C. It's just on the third floor, so I'm sure I can manage. Thank you so much…" He drew a blank and wondered how he could've forgotten to ask this guy his name.
"Rykah" he answered, filling in the blank, still clueless on the soulmate side of things. "You sure you can make it up there?" she asked.
Glenn didn't even hear the rest of the stranger's question, just fixated on his name. Fuck! This was his SOULMATE. His other half. The love of his damn life! And he'd been leaning on him like a drunkard for the last half hour."R-Rykah!? Are you kidding me?"
Rykah gave him a confused look, "D-Did I miss something?" he asked, taken off guard by the other's outburst. Taking a few moment's to think he finally remembered what the other had first said and the connection, and his eyes widened.
As recognition filled Rykah's eyes, Glenn felt his stomach fall. This was happening. After years of false soulmate encounters- having common words was a pain in the ass- Glenn had finally met him and he'd made himself look like a total idiot. He wouldn't be surprised if Rykah just turned around and walked out the door. "What's your-" Glenn swallowed nervously "-what's your soulmate's name?"
"Glenn…." he said softly, more shocked than anything as he tried to process how he'd missed it.
"Oh my god," Glenn whispered, running a hand through his hair as Rykah was confirmed to be his soulmate. This wasn't some insane understanding, this was 100% real. What was he supposed to do now? Before he could begin planning what to do, a wave of exhaustion hit him and he collapsed forward, barely managing to land with his arms braced on either side of Rykah's head. He blushed slowly "I'm sorry"
Rykah caught him, snapping back to reality. "Uhm… right… we should probably get you inside, then have the embarrassing moment" he said softly, helping him up then moving to head inside.
(off to do some chores, but they shouldn't take too long. Brb)
(I'm back!)
Glenn blushed even harder and slowly got to his feet. "Right! Just… follow me, I guess." He cringed at his awkwardness and led Rykah up to his apartment, huffing in annoyance when he took what felt like a million years to open the door. His hands were shaking, and he didn't know if it was nerves or tiredness. "Uh… This is my place. Why don't you sit at the table and… and I'll make us some tea."
Rykah watched him fumble, still trying to process the whole thing. "Uhm… maybe I should make the tea, so you're not at risk of hurting yourself?" He suggested, trying to point out that the other was shaky and recovering from a collapse.
(This worked out so well)
Glenn glared at his traitorous hands for a moment before deciding Rykah was right. Burning himself would really be the cherry on top of this day from hell. He hesitantly sat down at the table, rubbing his eyes in an attempt to stay alert. "Tea is in the top shelf of the pantry and the teapot's on the stove. Um… Thanks, by the way. You really didn't have to do all this."
