Trini searched through her handbag to find her eyes, grabbing them out. "By the way, I have a puppy."
Noah gasped. "A puppy!"
Trini unlocked the door and a big golden retriever bounded up to her. "Hey Athena! How's my beautiful little girl been?"
"I'm in love." He said, staring in awe at the dog.
"This is Athena. I've had her for a year. She was a gift."
"She is a gift." Noah stated, grinning at Trini.
Trini opened her mostly empty fridge and grabbed out a diet coke. "You want something to drink?"
"You got anything that ain't diet? You are aware that they've done studies on that crap, and it's causing cancer, right?" He raised an eyebrow at the drink in her hand.
"If you want soft drink I have…. Coke Zero and Pepsi Max. And I really couldn't care less. My life, my rules," She replied, taking a swig.
"How 'bout juice? Got any of that?"
"Apple or orange? I got both."
"Apple!" He grinned.
"You're such a kid sometimes," Trini scoffed, but she poured him a glass and sat on the couch.
He grabbed the glass and chugged half of it happily, before sitting down next to her. "You got some pretty sweet digs here, Trini."
"It's not much…" She looked around. "But it's home."
"You sure you wanna come stay with me?"
Trini looked at Noah. "Of course I am. I don't want to be anywhere but by your side. And we're going to be married soon. You own the house, I only own an apartment."
"I just-I feel kinda bad? You called this place your home, Trini. That's not something I can take lightly." He ran a hand through his hair and looked around.
"Do you live in the same place as you did when you were a kid?"
(pls say no
it would help)
"God, no. I hated that house."
"But that was your home until you moved out. For all your life, you lived there. But it was only temporary. You were never going to live there forever. Because people have to move on with their lives. Start new chapters. And right now, I want to start a new one. With you by my side."
He smiled, wrapping one arm around her shoulders and side hugging her. "You're always right about stuff like this. How is that?"
"Maybe I just have a lot of experience with life," Trini replied. She smiled as Athena climbed into the couples laps.
He laughed, cooing over the dog happily.
