Trini said nothing, just held on to Noah like her life depended on it.
Trini said nothing, just held on to Noah like her life depended on it.
"Darling, we really should call the cops." Noah eyed Matthew warily as he held onto Trini.
Trini slowly pointed to her phone, which was poised to dial 911.
He reached for it and handed it to her. "Go ahead. I don't want him here any longer than he has to be, or I might just kill him."
Trini didn't take it. "I…I don't want to talk to anyone but you right now."
He nodded. "Give me second? I won't leave the room, not with him in here."
"Can we go back into the bedroom?" Trini asked, referring to the room they had previously been in.
"Yeah." Noah pressed call, making sure the window in the room was locked as he rattled off his address and a short version of what had happened. He guided Trini out of the room gently and locked the door, making sure Matthew couldn't run.
Trini climbed into the bed, cocooning herself. The warmth of the bed and Noah's oversized jumper made her feel safe, and she layed down.
"They're on their way, should be here within ten minutes. Officer Ryan made it first priority." Noah said as he sat on the edge of the bed, giving her space.
Trini closed her eyes, feeling content. "Noah…" She whispered.
"Yeah?"
Trini reached her hand out silently, hoping he would get what she was asking.
He took the hand, a little confused and squeezed.
She pulled him towards her, wanting him to simply hold her and make her feel safe.
Noah picked her up and placed her on his lap, wrapping his arms around her and cuddling her, resuming his humming.
Trini leaned into Noah. She wanted his warmth, his security, his safety.
He was glad he had gotten there in time, but all the possibilities of what could have happened if he hadn't were running through his head, and he held on a bit tighter.
She wanted to stay like this forever, in their little cocoon of love.
There was a knock at the door a few minutes later, and Noah sighed.
By then, Trini had fallen asleep, safe in his arms.
Noah stood, still holding her, and answered the door, letting the police in and directing them to the bedroom. He sat on the couch with her and waited.
Trini stirred slightly but stayed sleeping.
Noah watched the officers drag a barely conscious Matthew out in cuffs, shooting a venomous glare at the man. He promised Officer Ryan that he would come in in the morning to give a statement, and with one look at the sleeping Trini the officer agreed, and then the house was quiet again.
(would it be ok to skip forward maybe a week to them going to trini's apartment to grab her stuff?)
