Naizes ears twitched as she laid into banes lap
Bane pat lil Naize, scratching her under the chin. “I have to go soon Naize.” He said while stroking her back. “I’ll be back soon, and then we can play, okay?”
Lis laughs. "Hell yes."
She looks down at Naize and chuckles. "Little bean, we need to leave."
Bane lifted Naize out of his lap, setting her down next to him. He got up. “Alrighty Lis, it is your crazy idea, so you better lead the way.”
Lis laughs. "Wouldn't dream of following your lead."
She steps out of the house, inhaling the air and looking back at Bane, her face already brighter. She crooks one arm for Bane to loop his through. "Let's go."
Bane looped his arm through hers, ready to be dragged along. “Is this some type of tavern or like what? I’ve never done anything like this in my life. Never. It’s strange to me.”
"It's a bar and diner." Lis replies, starting forward.
They look at him out of the corner of their eye. "You're not serious, are you?"
Bane tugged at his necklace with his other hand. It looked like he was about to break it. “I’m serious. I've never experienced a relationship. Never had time to pursue one. And dad thought that anyone I knew wasn't good for me—regardless of gender.”
Lis sighs. "Well, I suppose it's a learning experience for the both of us then. You in the sense that you've never dated, me in the sense that I haven't dated in. . . what year is it?"
She shakes her head. "Seriously, I'm starting to hate your dad."
Bane giggled. “It took you till now to hate my father. I've hated him for years. And speaking of years, it’s 2022. I think—maybe not. I’ve been strictly sheltered by my father so my surroundings don’t effect how I work. I don’t know much.”
"Actually, hearing about him once made me hate him. I'm just hating him more now." Lis laughs.
She looks surprised. "God, I feel old now. Last time I dated was. . . what? Early 1960s? Late 1950s?"
“And you said you’ve been around him. Did you not pay attention to all he’s done? He put a chip in my neck, he’s beat me, locked me away, restricted me from doing anything but training! I don’t know how I delt with it for 25 years!” He’s panting now. He sighed. “Anyway, how old are you?”
"He never showed any signs of that, he always hid you away when I came by. But there were still signs that there was a kid there. I knew there was a kid there, I just figured you were too. . . introverted or something to want to come downstairs." Lis murmurs.
"Um-" she starts, then pauses.
"I honestly don't know." she says, surprised.
Naize paced the house, sickeningly lonely. She was bored and couldn't wait for bane, her a bigger brother, to get back. She caught a mouse and cleaned her gun
Bane sighed. “Dad is very good at covering his tracks. But now I’m here to spill them. I’m very social, not introverted.” He paused. “So what you're telling me is that you’re semi-immortal like me. Not able to age past a certain point—but can still die.”
Lis sighs as well. "I guess he is."
"I guess. Except, I actually don't remember how old I am. I suppose that means I'm a lot older than I look. . ." they murmur.
“I understand that to a degree. I mean, I'm not the age I look either. But it doesn't affect me. Dad is—like…3 billion years old, but you would never guess it.” Bane laughs. “Dad is stupid. I still can't believe he put a chip in my neck. I don't even remember when he did it.”
Lis chuckles. "Yeah. He's old. It's never affected me much, either, but it's worrying that I can't remember."
She shakes her head. "It was when you were very little, so that you couldn't remember."
"But why? What was the reasoning? I don't need to be tracked. You said I was little, so you must know something." He whined. He then changed the subject. "Maybe there is a way to get those memories back. Or maybe that's just the cost of living for a long time."
Lis shakes her head. "I wans't there during, but I was there after. It was. . . "
They can't continue, and are glad when Bane changes the subject. "I believe that's just the cost. Nothing was meant to live forever. I think the price of it is that you slowly forget everything that shaped you, left with. . . well, nothing."
They wipe away a tear on their face. "Dammit. That's enough heavy shit. Let's move onto something lighter."
Bane nodded his head, putting pressure on Lis' arm for comfort. "How about— Naize. The cute kitten. Well she looks like a kitten. Or where this place is, we've been walking for ever."
Naze's fur stood on end as she heard the four open. Growling heavily
Lis chuckles. "Damn, Naize. . . I'm glad we found her. But we should keep in mind that she's perfectly capable of killing."
"Well, actually, we're here." they laugh. They've stopped in front of hidden but well lit diner. She opens the door for them, and a few heads turn. Then greetings are called out, and then more heads turn. Everyone also notices the hellhound next to her, and ask about him.
Bane tried to hide himself. Well, the best a 6'5 hellhound could hide himself. He didn't like all the attention, let alone all the gazes. There was a reason he worked in the shadows. He was temped to walk right out of there from all the nauseous overwhelming of his senses.
