Kat nodded stiffly in acknowledgement, taking a seat a little farther from Artemia and not taking her eyes off of her. Her jaw was tense, as if she was holding back a snarky comment.

(Braincells where ?? I’m sorry pff)

@spacebluelily language

(help that's a mood)

Artemia's expression softens a bit as she sees Branwen, but that disappears as quickly as it arrived. Niko stares boredly at Kat, still thinking that it would have been far better if Mia had sucked her soul, and he her blood. But alas, Artemia and her "morals" always ruined the fun. After a couple of minutes, a couple of maids enter, holding plates filled with food. They place them on the table, and disappear, only for them to reappear with goblets filled with wine, and grape juice for Branwen. The gargoyle takes a bite of her bread roll, and watches Artemia, who was staring–glaring would be a better word choice–at Katherine.

Kat glared right back at Artemia, unmoving. She was very tense, and she most likely would have started insulting Artemia if her life wasn’t on the line.

(we sure love tension)

The air in the room was so tense, that if Branwen wanted, she would be able to cut right through it. "So, this looks very yummy, doesn't it Kat?" she says with a nervous laugh. She glances toward Niko, and silently pleads at him for some help. The young vampire rolls his eyes but doesn't do anything. Artemia leans forward, her hands on the table. "So, red-headed stranger that broke into my mansion-" she gets interrupted by Niko who says "our mansion." Artemia merely rolls her eyes. "Yes, yes, whatever, you annoying pest." She turns her attention back to Kat. "What were you doing so far away from society, hm? Did you think that it would be fun to break into the home of a vampire?" She trails off, seemingly realizing something. "You led vampire hunters to our doorstep, haven't you?"

Kat opened her mouth to say something, then angrily snapped it shut again. She shook her head. “And what if I did? Yeah, that seems real smart of me. Get on the dangerous vampire’s bad side by leading a bunch vampire hunters to them. I didn’t even know where I was breaking into.” She looked furious now. “As for being that far away from society, I venture away from them, like, regularly. They’re all idiots.”

(Angry goblin…… with no braincells)

Artemia glared at her, not trusting a single word of what Katherine was saying. She didn't trust a mangy human like her, or any human, for that matter, not after what those beasts did to her little sister. Her hand were clenched in anger, and she looked down at her plate angrily. Nikolaos was right. She should've killed her when she had the chance. Deep breaths, Artemia. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. "I see…" was all Artemia was able to say.

Kat clasped her hands together, forcing a smile onto her face. “You know, I really don’t care much if you decide to kill me. I don’t care if you don’t believe me. I know I’m untrustworthy.” She drew in a sudden deep breath. She seemed to be holding in a lot of pent-up rage.

(I’m back with a short response because my braincells are dying one by one)

@spacebluelily language

(hahah that's such a mood.)

Branwen looked at Kat with wide eyes and frowned. "You're not untrustworthy…I-I trust you!"

The room turned quiet at Branwen's outburst, and Artemia had an incredulous expression. Nikolaos on the other hand, looked like a child in a candy store and was ready for a fight to ensue. "Παιδί, δεν την ξέρεις καν. Πώς μπορείς να την εμπιστευτείς?" Artemia asked as she leaned forward.

Branwen stared at her, her face revealing nothing. "I just do. And honestly, I find it insulting that you're badgering your guest with these questions." She grimaced and looked down at her unfinished plate, and pushed it away from her. "She stood up and glanced at her mother figure. "I've lost my appetite, I'm going upstairs." And with that, Branwen walks out of the dining room.

(translation: Kid, you don't even know her. How can you trust her?)

Kat’s expression went from anger to confusion as she watched Branwen. “Why does she trust me..?” She wondered aloud, then remembered that there were people in the room and cleared her throat, looking a bit awkward.

Artemia sighed, and for one second, it looked like she might apologize to Katherine, but instead, she stood up from her seat. She spoke to Nikolaos in Greek, before exiting the dining room. It was most likely that she was going to speak to Branwen. Niko stared at Katherine and sighed. "Feel free to finish your dinner. Or not, that's not my problem."

(Not me about to poke then realizing I’m the one who didn’t respond 😭)

Kat looked around for a moment, then sighed, standing up. “I think I’ll just excuse myself,” she said.

@spacebluelily language

(AHHH I'M SO SORRY)

"Suit yourself," Niko responded with a shrug. He didn't look up from his food, but out of the corner of his eyes, he watched her. He could call for a servant to bring her back to her room, but he decided it would be more fun if he didn't. Besides, he hoped that Katherine would get herself lost…stumble into one of their secret rooms….and get trapped down there with no food or water whatsoever. He was already excited at the mere thought of Kat getting lost and then dying.

(DW ABOUT IT)

Katherine walked off, and started wandering around. She had no idea where she was going, but she wasn’t about to ask for help. No, she could find her room on her own. Probably.

(me ignoring my oxo rps for no reason whatsoever)

Branwen sulkily started making her way back to her room. She had made a detour to the library to grab some books that she knew Artemia wouldn't like her to read. Something about her being too young or too dark, she didn't quite remember. But she was basically 14! That was old for gargoyles. She humphed as she brought the books closer to her and then stopped in her tracks as the lights started to flicker…before everything went dark.
