So, I found this prompt on Pinterest a little while ago and I would like to do a role play for it.
A King sends his best knight to rescue his daughter from a savage tribe of barbarians. Accepting the quest, the knight expects to find a delicate, frightened, young woman but instead finds a tough, stubborn, war-paint covered huntress that was accepted into the tribe shortly after her kidnapping and she doesn’t want to leave. What will the knight do?
Andrew’s RP Rules apply.
I would like to play the princess and I have no objections to this having romance in it.
Let’s keep this at a PG-13 at least.
I don’t mind strong language just not every other word please.
I understand life is hectic so no worries if you can’t reply but I would like you to be fairly active.
Try to avoid one word or one line replies. The more descriptive the better. I will do likewise.
(May I?)
(Sure! Do you have any questions?)
(Nope! Well, I have none at the moment.)
(Ok. Well, I guess I have one for you then; do you want to start blind or would you prefer a template?)
(I’d prefer if we didn’t do templates.)
(That's fine. I’ll put up the starter then. … It ok if we start with the king calling the knight?)
King Aldirc paced around his private study in deep worry. He was an older man with grey-streaked hair and a fair amount of wrinkles but he wasn’t getting weak yet. He was still a good warrior and considered to be a fair ruler but right now he had a big problem. His oldest daughter, Princess Gwendolyn, whom he felt he had failed, had been kidnapped and there had been no demand for a ransom. He sighed and opened the door, calling a messenger to bring his best knight to him.
(Yes, it is.)
Drake Bennett, one of the king’s best knights, was quite surprised when one of the king’s messenger’s approached him. Currently, he was talking to one of his fellow knights about the life of a knight and what they missed most about their families. Drake would never complain about anything, unlike other knights, who complain they didn’t get time to see their families. But that was how knighthood worked, so Drake dealt with it. He turned around when he felt the messenger tap on his shoulder. The messenger has told him the King needed him in his study, but, Drake had no idea where it was. So, he told the messenger to bring him to the king, and that’s what the messenger did.
The messenger led Drake in silence to the king’s study, only speaking when he announced the knight when they arrived. The walk hadn't been very long fortunately but it had given the king enough time to gather his thoughts. ”Come in, Sir Bennett.” the king instructed kindly, silently dismissing the messenger. ”I won't keep you in suspense with peasantries but know that you can turn down my request if you choose to. However, if you do I need your word that what is said between us must not leave this room. I don't want to start a panic.” Aldirc explained once they were alone.
Drake bowed slightly when he entered and looked at the king curiously. He had been brought to the king multiple times, but today was different. Drake could see worry in his eyes, giving him the impression that something was horribly wrong. What the king had said while he was listening to him, proved his thoughts. “Your Majesty, is everything alright?”
Aldric managed a small smile at the knight, proud and impressed by his intuition. ”To be truthful; no. It's my daughter. I’m sure you have heard the story of how she's a bit ill and that's why she hasn't been seen lately. But that's all that is: a story.” the king sighed, letting his worry really show. ”What actually happened is worse. Gwendolyn was kidnapped. She went out on a ride and was ambushed by a scouting party of barbarians.” he explained, pausing to keep calm. ”That is why I called you here. I need you to save my daughter. We know where they took her but I can not risk an all-out war.”
“Right, the story on how’s she’s a bit ill is the cover up, so others don’t start getting suspicious and start spreading lies that can ruin your reputation and your daughter’s.” Drake paused and looked straight at the king. Drake passed a hand through his sandy blonde hair and sighed. “Where did they take your daughter too? I need to know so I can leave as soon as possible. There’s no telling what those Barbarians are capable of.”
The king smiled, finally relaxing a little now knowing that his daughter would be safe again. ”The barbarians have a small settlement outside of our borders in the wilderness to the north. There is no doubt that is where they took her.” he explained pointing to the general location on a map. ”Thank you for accepting my request. I agree the sooner you head after them, the better. If you can bring my daughter back without raising any suspicion I think that would be best.”
Drake nodded as the king pointed the location of the barbarians on the map. He looked at the map for a couple of seconds before looking at the king once again. He was lucky he had a photographic memory, so he was sure that his memory was going to help him on this mission. “Of course, your majesty.” He paused and then sighed before continuing. “I’ll try my best, but I’m not so sure I’ll be able to bring her back without raising any suspicion, but I’ll try my best.”
The king nodded at the knight’s explanation. ”Very well, I understand. Just bring her home as safely as you can.” he instructed. ”Go now and prepare yourself. Gather whatever you may require. I wish you all the best of luck.”
Drake bowed as he stood up, and smiled slightly. “Thank you your majesty.” With that he left the king’s study and walked down the hall ready to gather what he needed on this mission. Of course, he would need weapons, so he decided to get the weapons first and then whatever else he might need.
The armory was fairly well-stocked with mostly traditional weapons; swords of a few varying styles, different types of bows, some shields, a few battle axes, and even fewer crossbows. There was also some armor to choose from if the knight felt he would need any.
Drake stood in place from the spot he was in once he arrived at the armory. He gazed at the different types of weapons and armor for what could be called a long time. Then, he snapped out of whatever trance he was in and grabbed a sword, a bow and arrows and then left the armory. He then gathered the other materials he needed and walked to the stables, in needing of a good horse.
Upon hearing the knight approach the stables, a young man turned to face him. ”Ah, hello Sir Bennett.” he greeted, continuing on his chores. Geoff was not much beyond a stable boy with curly dirty blonde hair and a steady hand for the horses he cared for. ”Can I help you with anything?”
“Actually, yes you can. I’m looking for a good horse, one that won’t try to drop me, or try to eat the things I have on me, like the other horses I’ve borrowed from the stable. I was wondering if maybe there was a horse like that, but if not, I’ll just borrow one of the horses I’ve borrowed in the past.”
”Of course, sir.” Geoff nodded and lead him past some of the other horses to a good looking Bay with a black mane and tail. ”Hey, boy.” he said gently to the horse. ”Today’s your big day.” He turned to Drake. ”This is Quarts. At least, that's what I call him, you can change it if you want. But he's a good horse; strong, fast and brave.” Geoff smiled, stroking the horse's muzzle.
Drake looked at the horse thoughtfully before saying something to himself. He cleared his throat and looked directly at the stable boy. “I’ll take Quarts; he sure sounds like a good horse, and, that’s exactly what I need today.”
”Oh, he is sir. I’ll get him saddled and ready for you.” Geoff smiled before darting off to grab the horse's gear. The boy was gentle but precise as he put the equipment in place. ”He’ll be a good companion. Sir, I know it is none of my business as a stable boy to ask a knight… well anything really, but I… I just care about these animals and… I don't mean to be a bother but you will take care of him, won't you?” he asked shyly as he slid the bridle on.
Drake smiled at the boy who was currently putting the bridle on Quarts. “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him. I can see that you really are attached to the animals at the stable, kid. Nothing will happen to him while I’m borrowing him. You have my promise.”
Geoff smiled back at the knight as he finished preparing the horse. ”Thank you, sir. Best of luck.” he said simply assuming that as a knight needing a horse and carrying weapons that Drake had some kind of quest to be on or something like that. He walked the horse out of the stable so the knight wouldn't bump his head when he mounted to be on his way.
The knight simply smiled and didn’t say anything else. Once the horse was outside, he mounted it and made his way out of the castle. He was sure that it was going to be quite a time before he reached his destination, but it would be all worth it after all. Saving a damsel in distress isn’t a thing that a knight got to do often.
(lol… little does he know…)
(Shall we do a time skip to when he finds her? That's when the interesting part starts. I can't think of anything to happen during the travel.)
(Poor lil knight.)
(Yeah, let us have a time skip!)
