"Alive has nothing to do with it" said Rio, "Being mobile, does"
"Alive has nothing to do with it" said Rio, "Being mobile, does"
Megan shrugged. “Well… whatever you say….”
Tobias blinked to keep his glass eye damp. “Why did he leave me?…”
She froze for a second. “Y— You mean Steve?”
He nodded shallowly. “If he’s supposed to be my father, then why did he leave me?” Megan sat up a bit and sighed. “…You understand your linguistic issue, right?….” She grunted silently, knowing she would marginally regret telling him the mere truth. “Well… He wasn’t exactly in favor of that. And.. well, luckily, that issue is nearly over with, right?”
He glared at her like she was somewhat crazy, yet she spoke what she knew. “Really…?….” I…. I feel relieved in a way I can’t describe. It wasn’t as worse as I thought. Yet… “So.. is he coming back?”
“He plans to.” She smiled, but judging from his tone, faded quickly.
He'd better thought Rio as he tried to focus on not shifting to his true form as he could feel the scales popping up on his thighs..
Tobias waited a bit before a tiny smile appeared on his face. “That’s good to hear….” His words came out slow, and the look in his eyes was dull.
Megan stood up. “Maybe it’s time for you to go to bed for the night — you look worn out from being worn out…” She helped Tobias from his chair and ushered him carefully upstairs into his room. He climbed in bed and Megan covered him before he quickly turned off and fell asleep.
She gave him a long look and returned back downstairs. I’m happy the family is coming back together… although things would be much better if Mom were to still be here…. She shoved the thought away as she returned to the dinner table and began a conversation on a different matter; “I don’t understand why he’s so tired this early…”
"He has had a busy day" said Rio, "And having us around has to be a bit confusing…"
“I was thinking more physical exertion, but I guess Steve took a huge toll on his congnitive energy….” She tapped the side of her head. “But I suppose you’re right in a sense, too.” Megan shifted uncomfortably in her seat, stading up to clear the table and put leftovers away. “…Speaking of which, I hope Firiko is still hangin’ in there… It’s been a while since I last saw him.”
"He'll be fine" said Rio, "I know his twin, and his twin is the strongest guy I know, Firiko is the only one who Luma will shut up to when it comes to bad experiences, Firiko is tough, he'll survive till we get him out.
She chuckled. “I won’t argue then if you say so….” Megan finished with dishes and was about to go take a bath when there was a knock on the door.
Just by the pattern and harshness she could immediately tell who it was. Not now, please, I was just about to shower. Megan went and answered it, and Liam was standing there.
Rio watched Curiously, This had better not mean more trouble
(Oof Rio you got something coming)
Liam glanced around as he was let in. “Are your friends gone yet?”
Megan shook her head, the slightest annoyed. “No they aren’t, and it might be a while before they do — why? What’s so bad about them that you can’t stand? I’m just dying to know! They’re just friends!”
He smirked. “…So you say.”
“Yes,” She growled and folded her arms haughtily. “They’re friends.”
He bit his lip in anticipation. “Alright… So when do you want to have that dinner that was cancelled because of your so-called ‘friends?’”
She shifted a little. “Maybe in a month or two —“
“You know I’ll forget by then,” He said calmly. “How about next weekend?”
“That won’t work.”
“Then make it work,” He mocked her stance. “I don’t have any other open spots left anyways.” He lied.
Rio cocked an eyebrow before getting to his feet, "You have an issue?" he asked poking his head into the hall. "She asked you to leave her alone"
Liam flinched at Rio’s voice. “I ain’t trying to pick a fight….”
“Fine,” Megan rolled her eyes to avoid getting into some kind of altercation. “Next weekend sounds good—“
“At my place?”
“Sure thing, and goodbye,” She said quickly, pushing him out the door. “I’ll see you until then.”
Liam took another breath and Megan closed the door — forcefully enough to slam it, but not too much as to be rude. “Finally….” She breathed. I hate him on so many levels when he acts like that. “….He’s done with for now….”
"He sounds like a jerk" said Rio,
“Well, he didn’t used to be that bad,” Megan hissed, feeling a hot steam in her face. “But he’s getting too edgy at this point, and it’s really bugging me.” Last time we had a good dinner… that was years ago…. But now I’m thinking he’s seeing them in a different way that I don’t necessarily enjoy…
"Tell him to back off" said Rio, "Any self respecting guy would do at least that much for a nice lady like you. And don't take this wrong, I just think you're a nice person and should be treated as such just like anyone else!" That and no offense to her but I prefer guys…
“…Honestly I should’ve said that…” Megan rolled around on her heels. “But that’s an issue for another day… Right now, I need to take a shower.” She headed on upstairs and went on with it.
Rio sighed, Now to figure out what to do when Skye wakes up from his nap…
Megan finished her shower efficiently and got in her pajamas before coming back downstairs. "I'm heading up to bed. I don't know if you want to make sure Skye doesn't do anything strange or hit the sack yourself…" Either one sounds like a good idea…
I'll probably catch some shut eye" said Rio yawning.
(Time skip?)
(Oof yup sure.)
Tobias woke up on the typical week day and headed on downstairs. He got his juice out from the fridge and stopped. He shut the door and looked around the house. Megan? Has she gone to work already….? He passed by Skye sleeping on the couch and went back into the kitchen to sit down at the counter. Now's really not the time to have her go to early-morning meetings with all this stuff with that man going around…
Rio poked his head up the stairs. Attempting to detangle his hair he nodded to Tobias before heading to the living room, pulling out Skye's amulet as he did so.
Tobias nodded back as he said through a yawn, "I have a feeling you'll have to walk me to school," He rubbed his head. "I know it may not seem important as Skye, but… Megan will probably go crazy…"
Rio muttered something to the amulet and laid it around Skye's neck. "Yeah I can take you" said Rio straightening. "Probably best that I'm not here when Skye wakes up anyway…"
Tobias finished his juice. "How come? I mean, does it have to do with the whole aura thing, I assume?" He slid off the counter seat and got his stuff ready. I still wish they could get back where they belong before too long…
"No…" said Rio, "Its more I did something that forced him to get some sleep… and left him very vulnerable to me… so he might be a bit mad at me when he wakes up. Not that it isn't justified I just don't want him to do something right after he wakes up…"
