Skye didn't want to sleep in fact he knew that if he slept he would lose control of his aura. Rio sighed, "Sorry pal" he said reaching into Skye's shirt, and pulling out Skye's amulet. "Your aura will stay dormant, and you will sleep." he whispered into it. Skye glared at him, but soon relaxed and fell asleep.
Tobias watched Skye fall asleep, then glanced at the amulet in Rio's hand. Maybe I should go take a nap too, He scratched at his head. But… I don't feel tired… "Is that like the entity of his aura or something…?" He asked softly, pointing to the amulet.
"Something like that" said Rio putting the amulet in his pocket. He can yell at me later thought Rio, knowing full well that doing what he did was pushing it by a lot, and could very well destroy any trust that Skye had towards him. "So do you know who that man is?" he gestured to Steve.
"From what I can tell, I think Steve is Megan's father," Tobias said a bit hushed since he wasn't too sure. But…. I don't understand that whole ownership issue.
Rio raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything. Instead he went back into the kitchen, planning on heading outside.
Tobias stopped on in the kitchen where Steve and Megan were having some good chitchat and stuff and they slowly went silent.
"…What was that thing about me and ownership…?" Tobias asked, leaning on the counter.
The two of them exchanged glances but didn't say anything to him. "It… It was just something that happened a long time ago that we decided really not to worry about anymore," Steve waved a hand.
"Then who do I belong to?"
"I would think that you belong to you kid" said Rio, pausing as he came into the kitchen.
Tobias cocked his head.
"Well…." Steve blew a breath through pressed lips. "Let's put this behind us."
"So… What does that mean?" Megan put the pan in the oven. "Does that….?"
"If he wants." He glanced down at the boy.
I don't understand…
"I'll be outside with Kyara if anybody needs me" said Rio, "Skye's asleep on the couch, he should be out for a long while." he finished before heading out the back door. Watching Kyara for a second he soon flopped back on the grass.
All three of them watched Rio head outside and then Megan and Steve reverted back to Tobias.
"You see… If you didn't know already, you and Megan are brother and sister," Steve started calmly. "So… If you want, I can take you back into my own hands and get stress off Megan's back."
Tobias didn't really believe so soon that Steve was his real, biological father… Yet it only made sense that if he was her brother and that he was her father, it only had to make sense. But I've lived with Megan nearly all my life… And now he wants me….? What even happened to cause me to live with– with my own sister!? Tobias clutched his head and said dryly, "I don't want to talk about that right now…"
Rio flopped back in the grass,trying to think about what had happened. So this "marceo" wants to use magical energy as a power source. Skye tried to convince him otherwise. Now Skye is unconscious thanks to the fact that he's normally nocturnal… and Kyara can use her powers, and Firiko is still with Marceo…. he sighed, This is not going well….
"Take your time…" Steve smiled.
Tobias headed on outside with Rio and the girl. "Th…. I'm getting confused now…. So… If Megan's my sister, then that makes Steve my own father, and now he wants me to live with him…" This is so bizarre…
"Parentage is weird" said Rio simply, "At least it is for me, either way you should do what feels right. I mean, if you can trust him, then all you have to do is follow your heart."
"Follow my heart…..?" How am I supposed to know what's good for me?…. Steve I hardly know and I've been with Megan for so long, such change could…. Rupture my living….. "I don't know what my heart wants. I don't know what I want…." Tobias muttered, joining Rio in the grass.
"Then wait and see what happens" said Rio, "You can't really be expected to make a quick decision on short notice."
"That's true… But why was Steve so absent if he was my own father?… Was it because of the same reason those kids nagged at me?" Did he not like me? But the past was the past, and there was no use in clinging onto it. "I suppose I'll have to wait…"
"Maybe he had to deal with something that didn't even concern you," said Rio reasonably, "There could be a lot of reasons, but you won't know which ones are right until you ask" and I should really take my own advice
Tobias sighed. "I suppose I could just go and ask…" He rolled over on his side, away from Rio. "Yet again he could say whatever Steve wants to just to make me feel secure." I have a feeling it would be better to live with him, just to get stress off Megan's back, but I hardly know the guy….
Rio suddenly sat up, "Whelp sitting around pondering isn't gonna do much" he said, getting up and heading inside, "Hey Megan," he said poking his head in, "Do you have anything that needs doing?"
Steve glanced back and Megan shook her head. "Not really… I mean, I know you're always wanting to do stuff, but I don't have anything right now, no."
As she turned back to Steve, he said, "I was thinking it'd be best if I took Tobias back… He is my own… You know… I mean, I am his creator after all."
She shook her head. "But you gave me his ownership after you didn't want him."
"Maybe we should let him choose. He does have a knack for desicion-making, you know."
She cocked her head. "I suppose that isn't a bad idea…."
Rio listened to them for a few moments and then stepped in closing the door behind him, "You might wanna let the kid get to know you first before pressuring for a decision like that" He said, "And as much as I might not have any right to interfere, I know how confusing it can be to live with one person, and then have a parent show up out of the blue and ask if you want to live with them"
"That's…. Very true." Steve nodded. "It has been years, maybe even decades since I last saw Tobias." He rubbed at his eye. "And I understand that he doesn't know me…" Because I removed that from his memory to lessen the pain on him… "…Yet I'm not sure how to get him to become familiar with me."
"Maybe you can have him go to your apartment certain days of the week and on the other days stay here."
"However, we should ask if that's okay with him first."
"You could just hang out with him," said Rio thoughtfully, "I mean, just being there when you do simple things goes a long way" he remembered the uneasy times he'd had when his mom first came into his life. "Like I said before, I don't mean to intrude, but I was in this kind of situation when I was a kid…"
"It's nice of you to give us insight, since this issue is quite tough…" Steve sat up on a stool at the counter. "I am his 'father' after all… But to rebuild this bond will be hard."
Megan nodded, acknowledging Rio. "I do like that idea much better… Along with what I suggested, we could get Tobias used to you in no time… But father-son time needs to be cherished as much as we need it to happen."
Tobias wandered on inside, and saw them all in the kitchen. "….What's going on….?" He asked uneasily. I'm afraid…
Rio smiled reassuringly at the kid, before heading into the living room to check on Skye, and let them sort things out.
