Jess chuckles, stowing her phone away in some random pocket on her bright pink skirt.
"Good morning to you too, Ms. Punk."
Jess chuckles, stowing her phone away in some random pocket on her bright pink skirt.
"Good morning to you too, Ms. Punk."
"Ha." Kris takes off her headphones. "When'd you dye it, yesterday?"
"No, I dyed it two days ago- of course I dyed it yesterday." Jess snarks playfully.
"Eh, I don't know, wouldn't be surprised if you did it this morning. What's your first class today?"
Jess chuckles.
"I woke up at, like, 6:30. I barely had time to get clothes on."
She thinks.
"Boring is what it is, so I'm not going."
"Fair. I have history, I feel like skipping again."
Jess snorts.
"You can't call that whitewashed bullshit 'history.' It's little more than old dead white men telling us from the grave how hard they worked to make slavery legal again."
Kris nods. "We going anywhere or just wandering around?"
"Probably just wandering." Jess replies.
"Cool." Kris agrees flatly. "So." She taps on the table.
"So (sew) buttons." Jess says automatically.
"Huh?" Kris looks up confusedly, then pretends she understood. "Oh, yeah, ha. Uh, do you wanna get going now, orβ¦-"
"Yeah, let's get going." Jess says, slightly embarrassed.
She stands up and stretches, then looks around for a moment before pushing open the doors and stepping out of the school.
(the joke not landing is always awkward on both ends :'))
Kris follows. It was unpleasantly cool outside but she didn't say anything, just zipping up her jacket and stuffing her hands in her pockets.
(Yeah, lol)
Jess looks around for a moment before turning and grinning at Kris.
"So. Do we just want to wander around 'til we find a record store or something, or do we want to do something else?"
"Are you saying you want to go to a record store?" Kris asked, smirking.
Jess raises an eyebrow.
"Do you want this to be a date?"
Kris' stomach jumped but she didn't let that show. "What does that mean?" It was a fight to keep her expression neutral.
Jess grins.
"You're the one that implied you wanted it to be that, so I'm asking you directly."
"I didn't mean for it to sound that way." Kris replied, almost monotonously.
"Well, I want to go to a record store, so you can call this a date if you want, but I'm just there for CDs and vinyls. How does that sound?"
"Sure." The response had a sarcastic mask over it, but to her own shock, Kris realized she wouldn't mind if it were a date. She knew she wouldn't call it a 'first date' or whatever, just something in the back of her head. "I didn't know there was a record store in the area."
Jess grins.
"There's one. It's kinda hidden. C'mon, let's go."
Kris follows. She was surprised she hadn't seen it before. "Do you visit here often?"
Jess tilts her head from side to side, considering.
"Kinda. I was exploring around a while back, and stumbled across this place. I've found some gems in there, like one of the Beetles first albums near the back of a vinyl section."
