@Gentleman

(I'm stalking this. It sounds amazing, and I love it.)

Awesome. I'm glad you think it seems interesting.

@Moriarty

(Imma just drop this here. I don't usually do girl characters but I decided hey why not give it a try)

Name/Nickname— Greer Bensen
Age— 15
Grade— Sophomore
Gender— Female
Backstory— Greer was born into a wealthy family, and it was initially thought that she would easily finish high-school and go to college— but, her mother died right before she started high-school, and by the time she was finishing up her senior year, her father had turned to gambling and alcohol as a coping mechanism and lost all of their fortune. Greer signed up for the lottery in hopes of getting a second chance, and she got it.
Personality— Probably INTP. Greer has a good heart, but she's not really that sensitive. She keeps to herself, but if you ask her a question, expect the blunt truth. Sometimes she comes across a bit colder than intended and can hurt people's feelings. Being smart and logical is more important to her than having friends. She's loyal to her friends, though, and will do anything for them. Or at least, she would, if she had any. She's a tad chaotic and very adventurous most of the time. She loves technology and is the type of person who might blow something up by accident.
Strengths– She's very smart, honestly, loyal, and trustworthy.
Weaknesses– Very scatter-brained, chaotic, distrustful of others, and easily bored.
Appearance—
Build/height– About 5'6. Average build. Average width hips and shoulders, though she tends to carry most of her weight around her hips.
Complexion/skin-tone– Light skin, with a few faint freckles on the bridge of her nose.
Facial features/eye color– Medium blue eyes, with soft facial features and long eyelashes (though they're blonde, so you can't see them as well). Lips of average fullness, leaning more towards thin. She doesn't wear makeup.
Preferred outfit– Oversized hoodies and comfy pants. She might've been rich before, but she never really looked it, and she never cared whether people worried about it or not. She wears thin-framed green glasses.
Extra– Dirty blonde, wavy, waist-length hair, usually pulled back into a messy bun.
Other— This was really quickly done, so I'm sorry if it's wonky.

@Gentleman

That, my friend, is a good question. I didn't actually specify, but in my mind's eye, the country has faced a lot of setbacks due to ongoing wars, so despite this probably being in the future, technology on a public level has hit some major road-bumps. The government has incredible technology, the rich have technology that is far better than what most of us have today, but the lowest classes are probably lucky to have a television or a car. People living in slums and ghettos are even worse off, lucky to have electricity or running water. So do what you like. I'm sure the character will be great either way.

Also— Happy Memorial Day to everyone.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Name/Nickname—Samantha/Sam
Age—17
Grade— Freshman
Gender— Female
Backstory— Her father's dead (oof, cliche) and her mom and her have a bad relationship. She would have run away, but she can't because of her autistic brother, Miguel, that she loves more than anything.
Personality— A mix of sneaking out to party and burdened by responsibility.
Strengths– Sass, standing up for herself, empathy, fighting, dancing, running.
Weaknesses– Insecure, a bit lazy, is scared of authority,
Appearancehttps://www.pinterest.com/pin/811773901574523392/
Build/height– Pretty thin, about six feet tall, kind of small shouldered.
Complexion/skin-tone– Light for dark, dark for light.
Facial features/eye colorhttps://www.pinterest.com/pin/811773901574554294/
Preferred outfit– A good pair of jeans and any old shirt that isn't too loose.
Extra– Will find protectors or someone to protect. Just how she works.
Other— She hates being called by her full first name. Insist on calling her Samantha and you will get on her bad side. Obviously everyone will start by calling her Samantha.

@Gentleman

Short, sweet, and to the point. I'm already a fan of this character as well! We have a nice cast of kids here.

I haven't heard anything more from @Milano, aside from their initial post, so I'm wondering if they are still in or not. Regardless, we will likely begin tomorrow if that is alright with the rest of you. We will still fit Milano in when/if they eventually return.

Does anyone have any questions, inquiries, or suggestions?

@Gentleman

Also, I never specified this, but I probably should've. I initially imagined that the kids would be living in dorms at the school now, considering that I also imagined that some of them traveled some distance to be here. You may all use additional characters throughout if you choose, as well (I think I did say this before, but my brain sometimes refuses to comply), but it's not a necessity. Merely a personal preference. Now, enough of my worthless jabbering. If anyone needs to know anything or suggest anything, I am open for questions here in the thread or by direct/private message at any time.

@croccin-champagne

i've seen milano on, but i don't know if they've been paying much attention to this

also, are the characters going to be placed as roommates? and if so, would that be a two person a room pairing, or larger dorms? and if it was two, who would be left to create their own dormmate, assuming milano is still interested?

@Gentleman

That was something I was already considering. A good question. Thank you for bringing it up. I suppose that would depend on whether or not we want to pair male and female characters in the same dorm (something that I doubt would ever happen in real life, but this is not real life, so we make the rules). It would also hinge on whether or not anyone else wanted to make their own dorm-mate. As-is, we have three female characters and one male. If Milano is still planning on participating, the gender of their character may help us make the decision, unless we don't really concern ourselves with gender separation and just shove two random characters into each dorm. If Milano does not join, then perhaps we should disregard gender-separation worries altogether, as there will be an even number of us and it would be inefficient for two of us to have to create extra characters just for the sake of dorm-placement. Of course, my mind is arguing me, saying "No, you fool. Don't you realize how wrong that would go in a real-life setting?!" but I respond promptly with a harsh, "Yes, but this is not the real-life setting, therefore it will only go as wrong as we want it to. Good-day to you, sir."
All of that to say: I have no idea yet, truthfully. What do you think would be best? If Milano does not respond by tomorrow, we will likely begin without them (but, of course, welcome them if they happen to arrive), so perhaps we should consider how we will pair if they do show up, and how we will pair if they do not.

@croccin-champagne

well, in all honesty, there are multiple solutions there.

in a school full of rich kids, a few are bound to use their money to get their way. and i'm sure there are people higher up who would take those bribes. eris doesn't get along well with people, so, if need be, she could always have payed off someone to keep her dorm to her self. she could even have payed off her original dormmate.

it could always be placed up to a glitch in the system, too, a male ending up in a dorm with a female. though, there are colleges that have co-ed dorms, so it is something that could easily be accepted

These are very good and true points. Which do you think would be the best way to go about it? If they happen to be back soon, maybe the others will have some input on this as well, as to which route they think would be best to go. If you wanted Eris to be a loner, though, that could be a solution to the odd number of students if Milano joins, and Merritt could simply be roomed with one of the girls if Milano does not join.
I will be perfectly frank— I had no idea there was such a thing where colleges allowed males and females to room together. But that helps me win the internal argument with that side of my brain, so thank you for this information.

@Gentleman

(Okay so I'm just a stalker, but after reading this entire thread I did not expect you to start talking about arguing with yourself in your head, and somehow you managed to do it without breaking the weird formal and kinda serious tone that you always seem to be using (which is great by the way so I'm not knocking it) and I just wanna say that's impressive and funny. I like you already, dude. But I gotta know… do you actually talk like this in real-life? Because you sound like a forty-year-old English teacher. In a good way of course.)

I take this as a compliment, so thank you. If by talk like this you mean the words I use and speech style, then it varies, but usually yes, to an extent. I don't feel like the spoken word is nearly as formal as the written, and I make far too many meme references to be considered overly formal. That said, I have had to "tone it down" on a few occasions because my peers told me they couldn't understand the words I was using— and I truthfully never realized I was using complicated words. I've tried to fix that, because I don't want to confuse anyone, but I cannot control my love for the dictionary. Thankfully, nobody online has complained about my use of words, so I think I'm safe for now. But, for the record, I'm twenty-two years shy of being forty, and I'm most definitely no teacher. Such a job would give me anxiety.
So, I don't know.
I'm just a peculiar soul with peculiar behavior, wherever I go.

(I can join in if you want, I just was quite busy with school, my apologies.)

@Moriarty

I don't mind who my character is roomed with, but I already low-key ship some characters that aren't even mine. I don't know why I do this. I really don't ship characters that often or that easily but I guess sometimes I just get a whim. Even if it's pretty obvious I won't say which characters I ship. I don't even know if romances will be included in this RP anyway. XD
Sorry. Rambling.
