"We're not gonna hurt you. I know the place is kind of a mess, but… we weren't exactly expecting company." Teagan laughed weakly. Finn got started on cleaning the floor while Teagan prompted the woman to talk more. She didn't seem ready to talk about whatever happened yet, so he settled for something simpler. "What's your name? I'm Teagan and this is my twin brother, Finn." Finn waved when he was addressed.
The woman looks at Teagan, still terrified. Slowly, she pulls down the "collar" of her ragged gown to reveal a series of numbers and letters tattooed on her chest: 31121974-XA. She points at the tattoo, then at herself.
"Ah… that's… a very long name." Teagan replied awkwardly as he read the long string of numbers. He wasn't really sure how to pronounce a bunch of numbers. "How do you… say that? Do you have any nicknames that people call you?" He asked, looking back up at her. Finn finished cleaning and sat in a nearby chair to be present, but not overwhelm the woman.
The woman looks confused by the question and points to the tattoo again.
"Subject 31121974 dash XA."
Finn and Teagan looked at each other with matching confused expressions. "Uh… right. Well, Subject 311… 29… dash, no… um… where are you from?" Teagan asked awkwardly. He could at least gather that she didn't have a normal upbringing considering her 'name', which seemed to be some sort of identification number rather than a name.
The woman points in the direction of the lab. Suddenly, her stomach growls.
"Food." she says.
The twins watched where she was pointing, but neither really made the connection of what she meant by it. When she asked for food, Teagan got up, knowing that Finn couldn't cook anything to save his life. He headed into the kitchen, going under the assumption that she didn't have any allergies, and started to make something quick. Finn cleared his throat awkwardly and looked back to the woman. "So… did you run away?" He asked. "What happened?"
"Escaped." the woman replies. "From the men in white coats. The scientists. At the lab."
"Oh… what did they do to you?" Finn asked. "I guess they didn't treat you very well if you wanted to leave." He stayed where he was, not wanting the woman to feel threatened by him getting closer to her.
The woman hesitates, then turns, tearing off what's left of of her hospital gown and the bandages. Starting at the base of her skull is a row of bolts on both sides of her spine; and she was fully healed.
Finn flushed when she suddenly tore off her gown, and he seemed concerned about the bolts, but soon became more distracted by finding something to cover her with. He managed to find a blanket and wrapped it around her as well as he could. "S-So they were… experimenting on you? Something like that?" He asked, clearing his throat awkwardly.
Teagan then returned with a plate of bacon and eggs for the woman. "I hope this is fine. I don't really know what you like…"
She turns back to Finn and nods. "They would kill me. Bring me back. Over and over."
She turns to Teagan, and her eyes widen at the food. She starts to reach out a hand, then hesitates.
"Poisoned? Drugged?"
"That's… that's awful." Finn replied softly. He and Teagan hadn't had the greatest childhood, but nothing like what she had experienced. Teagan seemed confused at the question and shook his head, holding out the food to her.
"No, not poisoned or drugged. Just food. I can try a little if it makes you feel better." He offered.
The woman looks confused by those words.
"'That's. . . awful?'" she echoes.
She hesitates, then nods. "Please."
"Yeah, it's not good. They didn't treat you well." Finn replied. Teagan ate a bite of the bacon and eggs so that she could see they weren't poisoned, and then passed the plate to her.
Still confused, the woman shrugs. "I don't know what you mean by that still."
She'd spoken her first proper sentence since meeting these two.
Snatching the plate away, she backs into a corner and crouches, wolfing the food down.
Finn sighed, but didn't push the subject. She may not know what he meant exactly, but she'd known well enough that she didn't like being at the lab, and she ran away. They could work on the specifics later.
The twins watched her curiously as she ate, scarfing her food down as though it would be taken if she didn't. They were the same way, but just because they would take each other's food if they didn't eat fast enough. "Hm… um… do you know how old you are?" Finn asked after a couple minutes. "How many years you've been alive."
She looks up from her now empty plate.
"19." she says.
"That's nice. We're nineteen too." Finn replied, smiling softly to reassure her. "Do you like the food?" Teagan asked. "I'm not sure what they gave you back at the lab."
"I killed or stole whatever I ate." she replies. She gets up and starts walking around the house, exploring. Eventually she just drops the blanket; she didn't understand privacy. She'd never been given any.
"Ah… right." Finn and Teagan followed her when she started to explore, and when she dropped the blanket, they hurried to get it back on her. "Hey, um… you should probably keep this on, yeah? I'm sure we've got some actual clothes laying around that you can borrow, but they're not women's clothes…"
(I probably should've asked earlier, but do you have any triggers, even minor ones?)
The woman turns around, face inquisitive.
"Is there something wrong with how I look? Is it not normal to do this?" she asks. Her tone is curious, if a little serious.
(Uhh I don't like nail trauma but nothing else bothers me)
Finn and Teagan both flushed and averted their eyes when she turned towards them, clearing their throats awkwardly. "Ah, w-well… you look just fine, but usually it's better to keep your clothes on unless you're alone." Teagan explained.
"Especially out on the street and stuff. Some people… might get the wrong idea. And you could get cold or something." Finn added.
(Cool. So this can get dark as fuck and I won't have to worry.)
(And for those of you stalking this: major triggers in this RP later. Warning you now.)
The woman tilts her head, not quite understanding still.
"'Get the wrong idea?'" she asks.
"Eh… people might try to… take advantage, of you." He continued, looking uncomfortable. "It's just for the best to stay clothed, yeah? So, um… do you want to borrow some of our clothes? I don't know if you want to wear the hospital gown you had before. I'm not sure if they'll fit, but… it's worth a try."
